Chapter 510
Chapter 510
"Sure, no problem." Her office desperately needed work, so she agreed without any hesitation.
"Thank you." Ewan sighed in relief. "I need you to figure out for me the reason why my sister and her boyfriend are breaking up. If the guy bullied my sister, please inform me about that, Miss Taylor. Also, did my sister get hurt other than the scratches on her face?"
"She sprained her ankle," said Madeline. "Other than that, she has a few scratches on her body, but they weren't serious. Don't worry, Mr. Bennett."
"I remember you have a doctor in your office, Miss Taylor. Can you take my sister for treatment before I come back?" Ewan added, "Before then, if anyone gives my sister trouble, please take care of her for me. I'll thank you grandly after my return!"
Madeline affirmed, "Sure, no problem!"
After the two discussed the details for some time, she passed the phone back to Amy. The siblings chatted for a long while before Ewan hung up reluctantly.
After the call between Ewan and Amy ended, Madeline soon received three hundred thousand in her account. A message came after, explaining that the amount was just a deposit, and a profound thank- you gift would be waiting for her after the job was done.
Madeline was speechless.
As expected from the so-called Midas of Wall Street, he was so generous with his money!
After she completed the job he requested, his friends and relatives would all be potential clients of Oasis Law Office, so she had to carry out this task perfectly!
In an instant, Madeline was all fired up. Besides that, she also thought that her younger son was a lucky star. He merely pointed at random, yet that pointing managed to get her a huge business deal!
She did not want to reveal too much in front of Amy, though. Eventually, she brought Amy back to camp and treated the wounds on her body. After making sure that Amy had eaten and gone to sleep, she returned to her tent and hugged Joel as she gave him a firm kiss. "Darling, you really are Mommy's lucky star!" © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Joel, who was already in his pajamas and lying on the pillow, looked at Madeline in bewilderment and sleepy confusion.
With a smile, she grazed against his tiny nose. "Daddy and I originally planned to hike the developed mountain opposite us, but you chose this one, and that's why we came to hike this mountain today. Then, we saved Miss Atkinson, and her brother entrusted her to us so that we can take care of her. This gave Mommy's office a huge profit."
"Wow!" His eyes widened out of joy for his mother; even his sleepiness subsided a little.
"Alright, the children should sleep now." At the sight of his son's money-loving behavior, Sebastian chuckled as he caressed Joel's tiny head. "Go to sleep. You'll get silly if you sleep too late. Let's continue the conversation tomorrow."
"Okay." Joel closed his eyes obediently. "Good night, Daddy. Good night, Mommy. Good night, Aldo!"
"Good night!" Sebastian leaned in and planted a kiss on each of his sons' foreheads.
"Good night, darling!" Madeline copied him and also kissed each of them.
Tired from the day's adventure, the two children quickly fell fast asleep.
Meanwhile, Sebastian and Madeline did some simple washing up and changed into their pajamas before lying down next to the children.
The tent had a transparent top, so one could see the blue sky and the sparkling stars while lying in the tent. Staring intently at the starry sky above them, Madeline felt herself immensely blessed.
In the past, she never had the luxury of time to go on a trip and steer clear of her thoughts by just lying on the ground, enjoying the beautiful scenery bestowed by nature.
She used to always be busy learning all sorts of skills and working hard to get a myriad of certificates. Of course, her efforts were not in vain. Of her various certificates, a lawyer certificate was one of them.
In fact, Ewan had referred to her as a lawyer because she had once helped Ewan's friend in court.
Litigation required too much energy. Since she needed to run the office and also look after her children, she rarely accepted cases anymore. She only took them to get used to things after acquiring her lawyer certificate.
However, she still liked being called a lawyer.
A lawyer! How cool is that? she thought.
"Why are you still awake?" Sebastian tilted his head to look at her. "What are you thinking about?"
"I'm amazed at the wonder of life." Madeline looked at him with her head cocked to the side, smiling as she said, "Before meeting you, I was busy all day every day. I never thought I would be so blessed that I don't have to do or think about anything, and I can just lie on the ground and watch the starry sky. Only wealthy idlers have this luxury. In the past, I never even dared to dream that I could become a wealthy idler someday!"
"Wow!" His eyes widened out of joy for his mother; even his sleepiness subsided a little.
Therefore, one should never give up on hope no matter what happened in life.
As long as they were still alive, perhaps one day, the trajectory of their lives would take a fantastic turn and it would lead them on the journey of their dreams.
"You deserved it. Because of your kindness, you sacrificed yourself to save Sam." Sebastian reached out and touched her soft hair. "Of course, it's hard work for a woman to raise two children. Now, you have a husband while the children have a father. You can now be a wealthy idler for the rest of your life."
"It's not a sacrifice," Madeline said, smiling. "Having Quincy and Joel is the best thing ever to happen to me. They're precious babies the heavens have blessed me with."
The second-best thing was that Sebastian turned out to be the children's biological father.
He was the best man in the whole wide world. Her luck was probably all spent on these two things, so in the past twenty years, she had to live in such hardship.
"But you didn't know you could be so fortunate before giving birth to the children," said Sebastian. "What if you gave birth to naughty and stubborn children? Or they might not be as smart and considerate as Quincy and Joel are. They might be born with defects. If it really were a good thing, Isabel would've fought you for that, so you wouldn't even have a chance."
Madeline smiled and shook her head. "Forget it, let's not talk about the past. I'm happy enough that the present is all right."
He nodded. "The future will only get better."
"Yes…" Madeline could not help but feel his hand and grip it. "It will only get better…"
She wholly believed that as long as this man was here, he would never let her and the children experience any hardship or injustice in the days to come.
In the future, every day would only get better!
This was Madeline's first time taking his hand of her own accord. At that, Sebastian's heart melted into a puddle and his emotions, usually associated with his sons, surged within him.
He wanted to take care of Madeline like he took care of Quincy and Joel. Even more, he vowed to make her the happiest person in the world.
"Yes… We'll be even happier in the future…" He leaned in and kissed her softly.
