Chapter 522 Blame
Chapter 522 Blame
Amy felt that she had fallen.
In the past, she used to think that it was shallow and childish to always brag about who her father was and who his friends were. But now, she had become one of those shallow and childish people.
Nevertheless, it felt surprisingly good!
No wonder so many people liked to say something like this, it turned out that saying this was satisfying. Just like her right now, she felt refreshed and comfortable, absolutely great!
Donovan was stunned, suspecting that he had misheard her. "What did you say?"
"I said, Ewan Bennett is my brother," Amy repeated cheerfully. "He's my biological brother."
Dumbfounded, Donovan stuttered after a while, "Y-You're kidding, right? Your surname is Atkinson, and Ewan's surname is Bennett. How could he be your brother?"
"That's because I took after my father's surname, and he took my mother's surname," Amy answered. "What do you think? Do you think the crisis between Noah's grandfather's company and your family's company can still be resolved?"
Blood drained from Donovan's face, and his legs turned weak as cold sweat started pouring out of his pores and drenched his clothes.
How could this be true? How could Amy turn out to be Ewan's sister? Ewan was a genius, the grandson of the richest Worrick man in a Western country.
Although Noah was already considered a young talent in the eyes of many elders, he couldn't be compared to Ewan at all. Ewan was a legendary figure, a young man who was hired as a senior consultant by several multinational conglomerates at a young age.
Many of the conglomerate leaders that they would never meet in their lifetime treated Ewan as an esteemed guest and held him in high regard. He was a figure living in legends!
But now, the woman standing in front of them, whom they thought had only captivated Noah with her good looks, was claiming to be Ewan's sister!
"You're lying. You must be lying!" Donovan accused with a pallid face. "How could you be Ewan Bennett's sister? That's impossible!"
If Amy was Ewan's sister, why had she been so low-key? Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
He had mocked Amy more than once before, and the previous Amy had always remained silent, pretending not to hear him. If she was Ewan's sister and had revealed her identity, even if she flipped the table without any reason, no one would dare to say anything.
If she's Ewan Bennett's sister, she would have revealed her identity a long time ago, Donovan thought. Why wait until now?
"Whether I am Ewan Bennett's sister or not, you can check it with Noah Ellis," Amy said. "But it doesn't matter anymore. Since I've already broken up with him, we won't meet in the future anymore." She smiled and held Madeline's arm. "Maddie, let's go."
Returning Amy's smile, Madeline nodded and helped her leave.
As Donovan froze in the same spot, watching Amy walk away, he was dumbfounded, and after a long time, he finally shifted his gaze to Rebecca and Mathias. "Is it true what she just said? It can't be, right? How could she be Ewan Bennett's sister?"
Rebecca and Mathias both had the same unpleasant expression as him.
Mathias' company was also dependent on the Ellis Family. If Amy was Ewan's sister and there was a rift between Noah and Amy because of Rebecca, would Ewan spare the Ellis Family?
With Ewan's ability to turn the world upside down and the backing of those big conglomerates, it would only take a word from him to make the Ellis Family disappear from Dusktown.
Should the Ellis Family go bankrupt, Mathias' family would also suffer.
Meanwhile, Rebecca's expression was even worse than theirs. She thought that she had finally won, but little did she know that Amy would suddenly drop a bombshell.
If what Amy said was true, then her so-called victory was even worse than defeat.
Assuming that Amy was indeed Ewan's sister and Rebecca had interfered in her relationship with Noah, Rebecca reckoned that Ewan would stand up for Amy once he found out about this.
The Richardsons were already in a precarious situation, and if Ewan intervened, doom was the only ending that awaited them.
How is this possible? Rebecca wondered. How could Amy be Ewan Bennett's sister? She's nothing special except for being pretty.
Amy and her father lived in the oldest apartment building in Dusktown, and the building was dilapidated to the point that it would be classified as a dangerous building. Even though Rebecca never paid attention to what brand of clothes Amy wore, she and the others had never seen her driving a luxury car.
Instead, Amy always took a cab when she went out, which was why Donovan had made fun of her more than once.
In their understanding, no wealthy girl would live in an old, rundown house like that and not even own a car.
Furthermore, they had seen Amy's father before, and he was just an ordinary worker who owned a car wash near their house after his retirement.
Just to mock Amy, Donovan and the others had deliberately driven their cars to her father's car wash and made him wash their cars.
Was Ewan's father a car washer and they actually let him wash their car? Was this a joke?
Unable to accept this fact, Donovan took out his phone and called Noah. After the call connected, he asked, "Noah, Amy claimed that she's Ewan Bennett's sister. Is this true?"
"Who told you that?" Noah asked in return.
"I just met her and she said it herself." Suppressing his anxiety and fear, Donovan asked again, "Is Amy really Ewan Bennett's sister?"
"It should be true," Noah answered. "Amy never lies, and this kind of lie can be easily exposed, so there's no point in lying about it."
"Amy is Ewan Bennett's sister?!" Donovan exclaimed, trembling. "Why didn't you tell us such an important thing?"
If Noah had told them Amy's identity, they wouldn't have mocked and ridiculed her despite having the guts.
Here I am, wondering why Noah chose Amy instead of Rebecca, Donovan thought to himself. It turns out that Amy is Ewan Bennett's sister, and she's more valuable than Rebecca, the rich and beautiful girl!
Instead, Noah didn't tell them this news and just watched them make fools of themselves.
He's really too much! At this moment, Donovan even felt resentment toward Noah because he would never have offended Amy if Noah had told them about her identity earlier.
"I just found out, too," Noah explained. "And Amy didn't tell me but my mom. My mom arranged a meeting with her and things got a bit unpleasant between them. That's when Amy told my mom about her brother's identity."
"You only found out just now, too?" This information almost drove Donovan crazy. "Isn't Amy your girlfriend? How could you not even know who her brother is?"
"Amy didn't tell me. What could I do?" Annoyed, Noah pinched his temples. "Let's not talk about this now. There's something I would like to ask you. Did you send Amy the pictures of me and Rebecca together?"
