You, Me and Our Genius Twins

Chapter 592 Hard To Protect Oneself

Chapter 592 Hard To Protect Oneself

An hour later, Martha and her four daughters were expelled from the Griffin Residence.

The villa gate slowly closed behind them, and the five women stood in the windy moonlit night, suitcases of all sizes piled at their feet, feeling particularly desolate.

"Mom." Cynthia grabbed Martha's arm, her voice trembling, "What should we do? Where do we go?"

Because they were girls, Old Mr. Griffin was especially stingy toward them. In other families, favored children would receive businesses and properties from their elders before they even came of age.

But Old Mr. Griffin hadn't given them anything.

Being evicted from the Griffin Residence, they didn't even have a place to live.

With things having come to this point, Martha had already calmed down. "Let's find a hotel to stay for now, and we'll buy a house tomorrow."

"Buy a house?" Cynthia's eyes lit up. "Mom, do you have money?"

"Yes. But not much." Martha said coldly. "Once we buy the house, we won't have any money left..."

Her gaze swept across Cynthia and the others' faces. "Starting from tomorrow, all of you will find jobs."

Cynthia and her sisters looked at each other in confusion.

Find a job?

Cynthia frowned. "Mom, how much money can we earn from working?"

They were the young ladies of the Griffin Family. Although they were girls and not favored, Old Mr. Griffin cared about his reputation. They had been raised in luxury since childhood.

Their lives had already been planned out. Before marriage, the Griffin Family would support them, and after marriage, their husbands' families would support them.

They had never thought that there would come a day when they would have to go out and find a job.

Martha's gaze once again swept across their faces one by one. "With my money, I can only afford to buy a small apartment, a place for us to live. Other than that, I can't help you. How you live your lives from now on is up to you. If you don't find a job, you won't have money to eat. You have to figure it out yourselves."

The sisters looked at each other, feeling as if their future had turned dark and bleak.

"It's all because of you!" Charlie couldn't help but get angry. She forcefully hit Cynthia on the head with her hand. "If it wasn't for you provoking Lucas, he wouldn't have suddenly come to our house and gone crazy. We wouldn't have been kicked out by Grandpa and Dad!"

"That's right!" Quinn chimed in, "You made a mistake on your own, and now it's affecting all of us. It's all your fault!"

Cynthia bit her lip, her hands and feet icy cold, her face pale.

She didn't expect things to turn out like this.

She disliked Skylar, but she didn't want to offend him either.

She disliked Lucas, so she came up with a clever plan.

Apart from expressing her dislike for Lucas in front of Skylar, she didn't do anything.

If Skylar helped her get rid of Lucas, everyone would be happy.

If Skylar didn't do anything to Lucas, she wouldn't lose anything.

If Skylar took action and failed, getting caught by the police, she would only have said a few bad things about Lucas in front of Skylar. Other than that, she didn't do anything. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

It was Skylar's own decision to go and kill Lucas, and it had nothing to do with her.

She wouldn't face any consequences.

In her opinion, this was a foolproof plan that wouldn't implicate her no matter how things developed.

Dreams were full, and reality was harsh.

Her so-called foolproof plan, which she thought would leave her without any worries, had unexpectedly turned her and her mother into homeless individuals.

Lucas kept saying that he wouldn't acknowledge his ancestry or inherit the Griffin Family's wealth, but overnight, he changed his mind. He said that as long as he kicked them out of the Griffin Family, he could let his son acknowledge his ancestry and inherit the family's wealth.

Therefore, her grandfather and father happily kicked her and her mother out of the Griffin Family.

She had always thought that she was the precious Miss Griffin of the wealthy family. Even if her father didn't like her, it couldn't change this fact.

Now, she realized that she was too naive.

Whether she was a Miss Griffin or not wasn't determined by blood relation but by her grandfather and father's decision.

If they wanted her to be, she would be.

If they didn't want her to be, she wouldn't be.

So now, she was expelled from the Griffin Family and was no longer Miss Griffin.

Her sisters blamed her for dragging them down, looking at her with resentful eyes.

Even her mother blamed her.

What should she do in the future?

When she was Miss Griffin, she had many suitors, but none of them had a better background than the

Griffin Family. They all hoped to climb up the social ladder by marrying into the Griffin Family.

Those men didn't love her; they loved her family background.

Now that she was expelled from the Griffin Family, those people would definitely avoid her and no longer consider her important.

Among her suitors, Skylar had the best background.

But now, he was in prison...

As the word "prison" flashed through her mind, the sound of sirens suddenly came from a distance.

The wailing sirens grew closer and closer, as if they were approaching their direction.

Her heart suddenly tightened.

Are the police coming this way?

Are they looking for me?

No.

It can't be!

She only mentioned a few times in front of Skylar that she hated Lucas. The decision to kill Lucas was Skylar's alone. She didn't do anything; even the police couldn't do anything to her!

The police car came speeding and stopped near Cynthia.

Several police officers got out of the car, and the leading officer showed his credentials to Cynthia. "Cynthia Griffin, we suspect you are involved in a murder-for-hire case. Please come with us to assist in the investigation."

"No!" Cynthia's face turned pale as she vigorously shook her head. "You've got it wrong. I haven't done anything."

"Come with us!" Two female police officers grabbed her arms from both sides and pushed her into the police car.

"Mom! I'm innocent. Mom, help me!" Cynthia cried in fear, struggling and calling out to Martha.

Martha took a few steps forward with her mouth opened, but she couldn't say anything.

She understood very well that she couldn't protect her daughter anymore.

Whether it was Mario or the Harts, or even the Gavin Family, they wouldn't let her off the hook.

She thought she was clever, but who was the fool?

Skylar was fond of her, and she incited him to harm others. Skylar was mentally unstable, but the Gavin Family was not.

She manipulated Skylar like a pawn. How could the Gavin Family not despise her? How could they let

her escape?

If she were still married to the Griffin Family, she might have found a way to protect Cynthia, but she couldn't even safeguard herself now. What could she possibly do to confront the Gavin Family?

Helplessly, she watched as the police took Cynthia away. Her heart ached, and she tightly clutched the arms of Quinn and Charlie.

Quinn and Charlie trembled in fear, their faces drained of color.

After a while, she shifted her gaze to her remaining three daughters and sternly warned, "From this moment on, you are not allowed to take any action without my permission. Do you understand?"

Quinn and Charlie nodded desperately while Jordan clenched her fists tightly, her head hung low, neither nodding nor uttering a word.

The night was enveloped in darkness, and Martha failed to notice her distress. She closed her eyes, took several deep breaths, and then opened her eyes. "Let's go. We need to find a hotel to stay for now."
