A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 811: Feeding Porridge

Ranita scrambled backward, but her lower back was held in place, causing her hands to fall onto his waist.

Brendon groaned.

“What happened? What’s wrong?” Ranita asked nervously. “Where does it hurt? I’ll call the doctor right away.”

Brendon’s lips were already pale, and now sweat appeared on his forehead.

He reached out and grabbed Ranita’s fingers, his voice weak. “The wound hurts…”

“The wound hurts?” Ranita lifted his shirt and saw a red stain on the bandage around his waist.

“It’s bleeding! I’ll get the doctor.” Ranita’s eyes reddened with worry as she looked at Brendon. “I must have accidentally touched you.”

“Nonsense,” Brendon retorted. “The wound bleeds every day; it’s not your fault.”

Ranita didn’t believe him.

Brendon had a dedicated team of doctors and nurses who came immediately when called. After checking, the nurse changed his dressing and reassured Ranita, “The wound hasn’t scabbed over yet, so some bleeding is normal. Don’t worry.”

“If there’s any problem, just ring the bell.”

After the nurse left, Brendon gave her a ‘see, I told you’ look, his voice still weak. “Ranita, don’t worry.”

“I’m hungry. Have dinner with me.”

For a patient like Brendon, she didn’t need to buy dinner herself. Caleb had already arranged everything. She had a three-course meal prepared by a five-star chef. Brendon could only eat liquid food, so he had porridge.

It was very thin white porridge.

Fortunately, it smelled delicious.

Brendon had an injured waist and abdomen, and one arm was also hurt. He could only struggle to hold the spoon with his left hand. Ranita couldn’t bear to watch and took the spoon from him, blowing on it before handing it over. “See if it’s too hot.”

Brendon lowered his head and bit the spoon, smiling foolishly. “It’s not hot.”

After eating more than half a bowl, Brendon said obediently, “Today’s porridge tastes especially good.”

“Smooth talker!” Ranita paused, her eyes reddening as she looked at Brendon and choked up. “It’s all my fault for getting you involved.”Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Isn’t that in the past?” Brendon reached out and held her wrist. “Seeing you in danger, how could I not help? What kind of man would I be?”

“Besides, you haven’t fulfilled our agreement yet!”

Some men just need a little sunshine to shine brightly, their tails wagging high.

“What agreement? I don’t remember any agreement.” Ranita fed him the last bit of porridge and wiped his mouth with a tissue.

Her meticulous care made Brendon feel incredibly comfortable.

Brendon raised an eyebrow. “You forgot, that night…”

Don’t mention it!

Thinking about that night made Ranita want to find a hole to crawl into.

“Stop talking.” Ranita hit him lightly, making Brendon look at her pitifully without saying a word, expressing his grievance with his eyes.

Ranita was exasperated.

She went to the corner to finish her own dinner, which was still hot and looked delicious. Seeing her enjoy her meal so much, Brendon kept looking her way.

“Your food looks really good.”

It was the first time Ranita had seen Brendon so envious. She teased him on purpose. “It is delicious! Assistant Shen said it’s made by a five-star chef; the taste is amazing.”

“Oh dear, you’re so pitiful, lying there drinking porridge.”

Brendon didn’t say anything, just kept watching her eat. When she finished and started drinking soup, he suddenly waved at her. “Ranita, come here.”
