A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 812: Acting Spoiled

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Ranita always had Brendon in her heart. As soon as he spoke, she hurried over to him, showing concern. “Is it your wound again…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Ranita was pulled over.

With one hand, Brendon pressed the back of her head and kissed her.

His lips pried hers open, invading deeply.

“Mm-mm?” Ranita instinctively grabbed his arm but was afraid of touching his wound, so she let him kiss her.

After the kiss, Brendon’s cheeks looked a bit rosier.

“It does taste quite nice.”

“You…” Ranita was both shy and annoyed, glaring at him. “If you do this again, I won’t talk to you.”

“Don’t be like that! I just couldn’t help it; you looked like you were enjoying your food so much.” Brendon said pitifully, “Do I look like I’ve lost weight from hunger?”

Brendon indeed looked thinner.

It had been four or five days since his surgery and coma. Brendon hadn’t been able to eat anything until today when he could finally have some liquid food. It was quite pitiful.

“When you get better, I’ll bring you delicious food every day.”

“Really?” Brendon asked, “Does that mean you’ll stay and take care of me until I recover?” He shamelessly asked, holding her wrist and looking at her pitifully. “Is that okay?”

Ranita changed the subject, “I’ll go tidy up a bit.”

After taking out the trash, Ranita returned to find Brendon arguing with a nurse. The nurse immediately complained to Ranita, “Family member, please persuade the patient to cooperate with his medication.”

Brendon held his waist protectively, acting like a delicate woman. “Ranita, she wants to take off my pants.”

Ranita: …

After understanding the situation, Ranita looked at Brendon awkwardly. “Can’t you listen to the nurse? You just got over a fever; you need to continue your medication.”

“An IV drip would suffice,” Brendon said helplessly. “I’ve been seen naked; aren’t you at a loss?”

What did she lose!

Ranita gritted her teeth, “Stop talking!”Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“I’ll go talk to the nurse.”

Due to Brendon’s strong opposition, the external fever-reducing medication was ultimately refused. Perhaps because Ranita was there, Brendon was in a good mood.

Ranita even had someone deliver a bouquet of fresh flowers, making the hospital room feel a bit more lively, especially with those golden sunflowers.

“Why are you staring at me?” Ranita felt uneasy under his gaze and raised an eyebrow, asking him speechlessly. “If you keep staring, I’ll leave.”

“You’re beautiful.” Brendon coughed twice, his cheeks turning red. “Looking at you makes me feel much better.”

“Stop talking!” Ranita quickly poured him some water. “Drink some water.”

Brendon obediently nodded like a little puppy. “Did you add honey for me?”

“Where would I get honey here?” Ranita huffed. “It’s good enough that you’re getting water.”

“When I wasn’t feeling well before, you’d always make honey lemon water for me.” His words made Ranita pause; he still remembered.

During the three years they were married, he had fallen ill a few times, though never seriously-just colds and coughs. Ranita always worried more about him than herself.

“If you really want it, I’ll ask Caleb to bring some.” Ranita’s face turned somber as if she had thought of something unpleasant.

Seeing her reaction, Brendon’s heart sank.

Those years of marriage must have been an unhappy past for her; otherwise, she wouldn’t change her expression at its mention.
