Chapter 887: The Third Wheel
“Brendon… I’m here in Steland to relax. I heard you were here, so I came to see you,” Shannon explained softly, her voice delicate. “Are you free for lunch? I’d like to invite you.”
Brendon glanced at her indifferently. “I already made plans with Ranita for lunch, so I’m sorry.”
“Oh…” Shannon was not giving up. “I just arrived and don’t know much about Steland or its local cuisine. If you don’t mind, can I join you?”
“Ranita is from Steland. Ranita, could you show me around for a few days?”
Ranita thought Shannon was really thick-skinned. Were they that close? How could she shamelessly ask to be shown around?
Ranita pressed her lips together. “Miss Murphy, I’m sorry, but I’m quite busy! If you want to explore, why not join a tour group?”
“The tour groups here are very professional and will surely make you feel at home.”
Hearing this, Shannon’s eyes reddened, and she looked pitifully at Brendon. “Brendon, what about you?”
“I’m not familiar with Steland either, so I probably can’t help you,” Brendon also refused. He didn’t want to fall out with the Murphy family but didn’t want too much contact with Shannon either.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
“Shannon, do you have any other business?”
Shannon was at a loss, standing there awkwardly, looking pitiful with her pale face.
Instead of leaving, Shannon pouted. “Brendon, even though we broke off our engagement, we grew up together as friends. Can’t you speak nicely to me?”
“Ranita is reasonable and surely won’t mind,” Shannon bit her lip, looking extremely pitiful. “Brendon, are you going to leave someone behind?”
Ranita was speechless.
They had broken off the engagement, yet Shannon still clung on under the guise of friendship. Her skin was really thick!
Ranita glanced at Brendon and then at Shannon, calmly smiling. “Miss Murphy can come if she wants!”
“Ranita…” Brendon frowned, clearly disagreeing.
“It’s okay. Miss Murphy is right; you grew up together. Even if the engagement is off, you’re still friends!” Ranita raised an eyebrow at Brendon. “It’s just a meal; it’s no big deal.”
“Really? Ranita, you’re so kind!” Shannon smiled warmly, her eyes sparkling like a mountain elf’s, making her look incredibly endearing.
Shannon’s appearance was very deceptive.
“Brendon, see? Ranita agreed! Take me along!” Shannon moved closer to Brendon, excitedly grabbing his sleeve.
Brendon frowned and stepped back a bit. “Shannon, mind your manners.”
“Sorry!” Shannon bit her lip and stepped back, looking pitiful as she explained, “I’m used to it! I didn’t think… Sorry Brendon, sorry Ranita.”
“I’ll work on changing that!”
Brendon frowned, his expression darkening. “Wait outside for a bit; I have something to finish here.”
After sending her away, Brendon placed his hand on Ranita’s waist and asked sternly, “Ranita, what are you thinking? Why bring such a third wheel?”
“How are we supposed to have any romance with her around?”
