Chapter 109
She had been ruining her health just because she wanted to see the increase of money in her bank account?
She must be out of her mind!
Glaring at her, Frederick was really rendered speechless!
As Alicia fiddled with fingers, she deeply felt that she had been despised. She lowered her head a little more and started trying to explain.
"The economy is bad nowadays, and it is difficult to get a job. If you chase me out of your place one day when I am old, or when the company contract expires, no one will want to hire me anymore. What if I get fired and I'm left with no money? Can you imagine how miserable I will be? Hence, since I have the ability now, I must prepare for it..."
In fact, what she said was realistic. At this point, she really felt like jumping off the building. She would not be able to dance for quite some time as she just had surgery.
Thinking of this, she couldn't help but reach her hand out to feel her wound.
Only then did he notice the hospital gown on her body. Frederick thought that she was not feeling well, therefore he stood up in a hurry and queried in a soft voice.
"Why are you still standing there? Go back to bed and lay down quickly."
After a pause, Alicia was a little confused and thought to herself, "What's with the sudden change of attitude? Wasn't he going to argue with me?"
Alicia climbed into bed in no time. She looked quite pitiful with her eyes drooped.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Sitting next to her, Frederick tore the notebook into tiny little pieces and tossed them into the trash can.
Alicia blinked a few times before she could react. Then, she glared at him with her widened eyes. Her grips tightened as she held the quilt in fury.
After tearing it up, Frederick returned the pen and the notebook to her as he asked, "What are you staring at? It's just a book. Are you going to get mad at me for doing that?"
"No..."
After putting away the notebook, Alicia felt enraged and thought, "Why did he ruin my notebook? I have to do it all again from the start! Just by calculating my finances, many of my brain cells have died!"
She didn't dare to say anything or show any expression on her face. Thus, she just kept it to herself.
However, Frederick could guess what was going on in her mind just by looking at her eyes. He raised his hand and poked her in the head twice.
"Take good care of yourself and don't think too much about it! I've requested for you to rest for half a month." "What?" Her eyes went round as she let out a sharp shriek. Alicia was extremely furious. She had checked with the doctors and found that she could be discharged from the hospital in four days. Why would she stay here for half a month?
She couldn't afford to stay sick.
She was boiling with anger. But when Frederick gave her a cold look, she eventually suppressed it. However, her cherry-red lips pouted angrily and her face was full of disappointment!
Noticing that she was extremely furious yet she still remained silent, Frederick squinted at her.
"All right! Don't complain secretly, I will take care of all the expenses! Take good care of yourself and don't try to come up with mischievous ideas! I'll give you one hundred thousand dollars as compensation to comfort your fragile little heart, okay?"
"Really? You won't break your promise, will you?"
Staring at him, Alicia was actually not at ease as she really needed money. Any delay might affect her father's treatment.
Frederick casually took out a check and signed 100,000 dollars for her.
"Can you be relaxed now?"
Alicia received the check and nodded obediently. With this money, she could finally feel a little relieved. Besides, no one told him to apply for leave on her behalf without her permission. Thus, it was not wrong for him to compensate her!
She carefully put the check into the notebook and placed it under the pillow. She giggled, "My glass- made heart has been repaired thoroughly! I have to get well as soon as possible. I can't let my husband down, can I?"
She knew that she had to get better as soon as possible. Alicia cheered herself up secretly as her biggest concern was settled. All of a sudden, she felt exhausted and yawned.
"I'm so sleepy. I'll sleep for a while! Hubby, if you have work to do, you may attend to it. I'll be obedient and take good care of myself. I won't trouble you!"
After laying down for a while, he heard an even yet soothing breathing sound.
Usually, Alicia would always feel extremely tired as she was tensed up every day. She rarely had the time to rest well. However, since she didn't feel stressed and that she had taken the medicine,
she fell into a deep sleep in an instant.
Sitting next to her, Frederick was quite surprised.
He hated gold diggers, but why did he feel sorry for her?
His slender yet rough fingers caressed her velvety-soft hair, sweeping them across her serene little face. This stirred up Frederick's heart a little.
He was unwilling to leave her alone. Instead, he logged into the company's system at the table and continued to deal with all kinds of business.
No one disturbed Alicia, thus she was still sleeping soundly. After Frederick came back from buying lunch, she was still sleeping in the same position without any movements...
After placing the food down, he took a nap too. Then, he got up and headed out to answer some phone calls to handle some matters. When he came back, he realized that she was still sleeping while it was almost three o'clock in the afternoon. Frederick felt that something was wrong.
He walked towards her to check the temperature on her forehead and touched her hand. He was puzzled as everything seemed normal.
How could she sleep for so long? Was there anything wrong with her?
He gently nudged her and called her softly, "Ally?"
She was disturbed in her sleep. She moved her body and wriggled a little. Then, she grabbed the corner of the quilt, burying her head into it.
"Yes, I can't get sick... I have to eat well!"
"I must get well soon. I can't get sick. I can't request for leave! I have to work..."
"No! I can't eat too much. I can't be fat or no one will like me!"
"...Give me a chance! Please, don't chase me away. Don't fire me!"
"Don't, don't..."
Hearing her muttering, Frederick paused for a moment. His heart ached for her as he thought, "Silly girl! Why do you force yourself so hard just to earn little money?"
Seeing that she was still in a daze and dead asleep, Frederick sensed that something was wrong. Thus, he pressed the bell and called the doctor in.
"The wound is slightly infected, causing her to have a mild fever. Moreover, the patient may be under too much stress, causing her to be tensed. She can't recover fully if she is always anxious. She must always be in a good mood and not feel too stressed! She will be discharged soon if she takes a good rest."
After injecting the antibiotics into her body, the doctor gave him some instructions before leaving.
When Alicia opened her eyes, the sky was getting dark. Her throat felt uncomfortable when she got up. "Hubby? Ahem..."
"Are you awake?" Frederick came forward and poured her a glass of warm water.
Feeling wronged, Alicia pursed her lips and mumbled, "Honey, my throat hurts!"
"You are having a fever. It will be strange if it doesn't hurt! I told you not to run around but you didn't obey me!"
He pinched her chubby face and turned around to pour her some honey water. "The doctor has injected antibiotics into your body. You should be fine by tomorrow. Let's see if you can still pretend
to be strong."
As soon as he handed the cup over, his cell phone rang out of the blue...
