Chapter 79
Chapter 79
Sofia’s POV
The car started to suddenly slow down and I blinked my eyes open a little and stared sideways, throw
the car’s window, and then I noticed that we were almost approaching the mall and thst the car was
about to pull into one of the empty spots in the parking lot. I sat up in my seat and smoothed my bed
down with my fingers before reaching for my bag and picking it up to sling it over my arm while my
phone was carefully clutched in my right hand. The car finally pulled into the parking spot and the
engine finally stopped running after a few seconds.
I watched as Ethan and Ryan stepped out of the car almost at the same time, and Ryan quickly walked
to the back of the car to pull the door open for me.
“Thank you.” I said in a quiet voice as I stepped out of the car and shifted to the side for the door of the
car to be pushed close. I pulled on the length of my gown on noticing that it had ridden upwards,
flushing in embarrassment a little, on realizing that Ryan’s eyes had dropped towards my thighs for a
fleeting moment.
It was like the world was suddenly against me when it comes to anything involving Ryan, because I had
no idea why Ryan was always the one to always witness all my embarrassing moments.
I started making my way towards the front of the mall and by the faint footsteps which fell into steps
behind me, I knew without any doubts that Ryan and Ethan had already fallen into steps behind me.
Like I had expected after all.
I paused at the entrance of the glass door and stared at myself in the glass walls around the front of the
mall, Ryan and Ethan were like tall looking statues behind me. The door of the mall was pulled open by
the gate keeper of the mall and I smiled at him a little as I walked through the doorway and stared
around the whole surrounding of the hallway as soon as I stepped in.
As weird as this might sound, this was like the first time I was stepping foot into a mall as big as this.
And my gosh, it was really big.
I continued to walk further into the mall before pushing on my tracks on realizing that I didn’t know
where to go, where to look and where to start searching for things from. I slowly turned around until I
was looking up at the two bodyguards who were standing a few feet behind me.
“Is there a problem, ma’am?” Ryan asked first and I turned my head towards him and shook my head
before starting to speak. “Um, do you know your way around here?”
“Yes, I do ma’am. What do you need help with?” He asked almost immediately and I puffed out a
breath and moved my weight from foot to foot before starting to say, “Well, I want to get all the
necessary equipment for paintings and every other thing that I am going to need for it.”
“I don’t really know a lot about that, ma’am.” Ryan supplied an answer after waiting for a few seconds. I
watched as he turned his head around until he was staring at Ethan.
“You know your way around here, man?”
Ethan shook his head once and that was that, perhaps I was going to have to meet one of the helpers
here in the mall and ask them to show me around.
“Where are the um, the helpers?” I asked the two men who were still staring down at me and continued
almost immediately, “Like the assistants… or, they’re supposed to be some assistants here, right? The
ones who are supposed to be around when…”
I was still explaining what I meant to the bodyguards when I felt a presence beside me and quickly tore
my gaze away from Ryan and Ethan to look sideways, and my eyes landed on the body of a woman…
and damn, she is tall.
She had some height on me despite the fact that I had heels on and I had to stare up at her before I
could be able to stare into her face. I figured out that since none of the guards were panicking, that she
wasn’t harmful one bit.
“Good day ma’am.” The woman started to speak before I could begin to question her for coming to
suddenly stand tha close beside me.
“Hello,” I murmured in reply as I took a small step backwards, creating some space between us.
That was when I noticed that she had on the same uniform that the man who had pulled the door of the
mall open had as well.
“I am Ama, and I am here to be of help to you.” She paused and smiled brightly at me, but I figured the
smile was the same type she gives to everyone, for the sake of her job, and not because she genuinely
meant it.
“So if there’s any confusion you’re encountering, any questions you’d love to ask me, you can go
ahead and we’d try our best to make your shopping moments here a memorable one.”
I swallowed emptily and nodded my head a little at her, pushing my head back from the front of my face
and trying mybbest not to feel insecure about the amount of height she had on me.
“Thank you? Ama.” I started to say as I kept on slowly moving my weight from foot to foot, right before I This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
continued. “I do need your help, for some guidance and some advice on some choices for some
equipment which I am going to be shopping for today.” I started to say, hoping I was sounding as
matured as possible and also making some sense at least.
Knowing and seeing how Tall she was at the moment, she might have already unconsciously started
looking down at me.
“Oh alright ma’am. Is there anything like a particular subject or subjects in particular that you’d like us
to start from, like the main reason or reasons for the whole things you want to purchase today.” Ama
asked and I nodded my head once before replying, “Yeah, there is. Painting. I want to get equipment
which I can use to start painting.”
“Alright ma’am, I’d get someone who’s going to accompany you to the spot where you’re going to use
to get the whole painting stuff which you’re going to need.” Ama explained with her hands clasped
before her and hesitated for a few moments before continuing after a few seconds.
“Is there anything else you want to purchase?” She asked and I shook my head immediately.
“No, there isn’t. That’s the only thing I’d like to get.” I replied to her before adding after a fleeting
second, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. I’d get someone to come over here in a few minutes, if you can patiently wait right
here for me.” She started to say again and I shrugged a little.
“I don’t mind.” I replied to her and we exchanged a few more words before she was turning around and
heading towards a part of the mall which looked like the parts where only people who walked in the
mall are allowed to go through, because the whole people in that part of the building were in the sand
uniform although some were in different colors.
I turned my head around and took in the whole scenery, watching the way little children were running
around and having fun with themselves. I noticed that they were a bunch of children and a woman, but
some guards were accompanying them so I figured that they were probably from the mafia too, it could
be Luca’s mafia or one of the neighboring ones.
The atmosphere around the inside of the mall here was quiet and somehow cool, but there were some
people who were speaking with each other and their voices were echoing around a little. Some children
were running around and their squeaky footsteps were echoing around the mall. I wondered if it was
safe for those kids to be running around without any guidance, and if there isn’t any kind of threat
hanging over the head of their fathers which they could unknowingly get to suffer for.
A bunch of poor children.
But then, that was the thing about the whole mafia thing. If you’re in a mafia and you give birth to a
child, you’re undoubtedly birthing that particular child or set of children into a world of danger and it is
your complete right to protect that child or children at all cost — because you weren’t forced to birth the
kids, you chose to birth the child probably because you needed to birth an heir for your whole
possessions and inheritances, and to also take over your position in the mafia.
The woman named Ama finally came back and I turned my head back around to stare up at her, and
noticed the person standing beside her side almost immediately.
“I am so sorry for the delay ma’am.” Ama started to say and I shook my head instantly, “It’s alright.” I
replied and watched as she pointed at the guy standing beside her. He was around the same height as
she was and he was also in the same uniform which she was in, but whereas hers was in a black and
white color, his was in a red and black color.
“This is Micah, he’s going to be the one to help you with everything you’re going to be needing today. If
you have any other questions, just refer it to him, he’s going to help you out with it.” She continued and
i bedded my head at her before glancing towards the saud Micah.
He had a slender build and I could tell that he was still in his teenage years, or was just in his early
twenties.
He smiled a little at me the moment he noticed me watching and he reminded me so much of my
brother at that very moment.
I felt my heart start to sink and clog up at that very moment and I moved my bag off my left hand to
right arm, puffing out a deep breath and taking an unconscious step backwards.
“Thank you for your help, Ama.” I remembered to say to Ama and we exchanged a few more words
before she turned back around and returned back to the direction in which she had come from, leaving
Micah behind. I watched as he lifted his hands and rubbed it together against each other before
bunching up his shoulders and I had a hunch that thie was his first or second time doing something like
this, and that he was a little bit nervous.
“If you don’t mind ma’am, I’m going to be leading the way right now.” He started to say, his words
coming out jumbled together and rushed, but I managed to pick out the words just fine.
“Please.” I said to him in reply and he started walking straight ahead. I waisted for a few moments
before falling into step behind him, knowing that Ethan and Ryan had already fallen into steps behind
me almost immediately.
We headed deeper into the mall and started to pass rows and rows of different kinds of things which
were either filling out large cartons and large plastic boxes. I watched in fascination as some people
who looked like young teenagers were standing around a type of game which I hadn’t seen before, and
they were all playing together. There was a guard which I noticed standing a few feet away from them,
watching their every moves and it reminded me so much of my childhood whenever I’d be out with
Angelo– my younger brother, the two guards were always going to be hanging around a couple or feet
away, monitoring us and watching our every moves, for our own safety, that is.
