Chapter 80
Chapter 80
Sofia’s POV
I was picking up another set of identical long brushes with thin smooth looking bristles, inspecting it for
a few seconds before turning around and placing it in the cart with was almost filling out with all the
things I had gotten, thanks to Micah who had been really helpful throughout the start of the whole thing.
“Do you need a new cart, ma’am?” Micah asked and I took a few moments to ponder on the question
before shaking my head and shrugging a little.
“I’m not so sure. Do you think there’s still something else that I haven’t taken?” I asked him and he
nodded his head immediately, walking forward fast and pointing towards the top of the high shelf. I
craned my head around and sighted what he was pointing at.
It was a bunch of spray paints in different colors and sizes.
Would I even be needing that now? I seriously doubt at this point, I mean, I am supposed to have
gotten a hand of the regular style of painting perfectly or almost perfectly before I can think of moving
towards graduating into making use of spray paints.
“I don’t think I’d be needing those yet. Perhaps whenever I get back to restock, I'll get lots of spray
paints.” I said to Micah before turning around and glancing up at Ethan who was standing a few feet
behind me.
“I think I’m done here.” I said to them with a small lift of my shoulders and watched as both men
nodded their heads almost at the same time.
“I’d take this over to the counter then, ma’am.” Micah said in the next second and I nodded my head
immediately. “Yes, please.”
I watched as he pushed the cart away and as Ethan fell into step behind him, to probably go ensure
that the whole thing I had gotten would get checked out and priced without me getting cheated.
I was left alone with Ryan and I pushed my hair out of my face and turned around, staring up at the
different types of things high up on the shelves, craning my head around to be able to get a good look
at the things and feeling Ryan’s gaze press into my body, making the skin around my neck prickle with
perspiration beneath the turtlenecked gown I had on. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
I turned around after a few moments to see Ryan eyes on me. He was still watching me and didn’t
bother to hide or drop his gaze the moment our eyes locked. I started to make my way towards him
slowly until I was standing a few feet away from him.
I dragged in a deep breath and shook my head a little in other to get my hair off my lips without the use
of of hand as I stared up at him.
This was it.
I was going to get to thank him for helping me out yesterday.
“So, uh, yesterday’s night, thank you for what you did… your helping me out and everything.” I said to
him after a moment, puffing out a slow breath and finally averting my gaze away from his because it
was naturally hard for me to hold a person’s gaze without my eyes unconsciously wavering.
Ryan remained quiet for about a minute before starting to speak, his voice sounding really low, than
usual. “You’re welcome, ma’am.”
I nodded my head and tugged on the hand of my bag, not knowing what to say to that, and so I decided
to take a slow step back, creating more space between us and moving my weight from foot to foot as I
stared up at him.
“Are you alright though?” He asked after a few more seconds of the silence between us starting to drag
out and I nodded my head immediately, not wanting him to think deep about what has been happening
to me.
It really isn’t as it seems.
“I am. There’s no problem and there’s nothing wrong.” I said to him and lifted my shoulders a little,
lifting my left fingers and brushing my hair out of my face before placing my hand against my side.
“Let’s go settle the bills.” I said to Ryan before he could say anything else and slid past him, enduring to
keep some space between us as I made my way down the narrow part between the shelves, knowing
fully well that he had fallen into steps behind me after a few seconds.
“Oh my god, are you Mrs Ricci? The new wife of the Mafia lord?” The tall lady named Ama asked
slowly in bewilderment as she stared at tne details my black card had brought out for her on the
system, staring down into my face unbelievably and then glancing past me to Ethan and Ryan before
realization dawned on her face.
“Oh my, I’m so sorry Mrs Ricci, I swear it, I had no idea it was you all these while, please forgive me
ma’am.” She started to say after about a second and I huffed out a breath, knowing this was going to
happen even before it had happened.
It was like it was an unspoken rule for everyone to be afraid and so respectful to me, all because I was
the wife of Luca.
“It’s fine, Ama.” I said to her and stretched my hand out for my black card which she handed to me
immediately, her face having a guilty expression on it.
“I would have offered you a drink and a seat, plus special treatments assuming I knew who you were
ma’am, I’m really sorry, ma’am.” She started to say after a moment and I waved my hand dismissively.
“It’s really fine, don’t worry about it.”
——-
I stepped into the house once the door got pulled open by Ryan, who I had been finding it hard to make
eye contact with after the little conversation we had right there in the middle of the mall.
The door got pushed closed behind me and I figured out that Ryan had gone back down to fetch the
stuff from the car. I had wanted to get some things from the whole thing, but they had refused and said
Luca won’t be pleased if I carry some of the stuff.
I made my way deeper into the house and was about to climb up the stairs leading to the second floor
of the house when I sighted Luca on the other side of the stairs, in a dark suit, looking huge and
powerful as ever.
I blinked once and gulped instantly the moment he started to ascend the stairs oh so slowly. His eyes
were locked on mine and after he descended two more set of stairs, I averted my gaze and
unconsciously took a step back.
He finally got to the foot of the stairs and stood before me, completely looming over me and even with
the heels I had on, my head was only reaching the middle of his chest.
I parted my lips and breathed out a slow breath, my eyes staring straight into the tiny hole in the middle
of one of the buttons on his suit jacket, trying to will my fast beating heartbeat to slow down.
“Sofia.”
His voice came out low and deep, from the deepest part of his throat and I felt a small shudder run
down my body as goosebumps pricked on my skin, beneath the sleeves of the gown I had on.
I was still staring into a hole in his button and had refused to glance up at me because I didn't know
what I was going to do if I had to lock eyes with him, with how I could feel my knees slightly wobbling.
I let out a startled stuttered breath as soon as I felt cold fingers wrapped around my jaw and in the next
second, before I could wrap my head around what was happening, my jaw was being tugged up and I
was staring into Luca’s eyes, noticing how tiny dusts of gold were floating around in his eyes.
My breath was trapped in my throat and it felt like I was about to sink into the deep abyss of Luca’s
eyes, and the feeling of his firm grip on my jaw was making my brain feel overheated with different
kinds of emotions all at once.
“Did you get everything you need for your paintings?”
I faintly heard him ask and I nodded my head a little – since my head could barely move, and my mouth
had chosen that moment to not function properly anymore.
He was staring down at me and I noticed the instant his eyes ghosted over every part of my face before
sliding down my body and lingering down there – before finally returning back to settle his gray eyes on
my face, and I noticed the way his eyes now had something that resembled heat brewing behind them.
