Chapter 53 Mom’s Surgery
Betty was shocked at the news, her face pale.
The next second, she rushed out as if she had gone mad.
“Betty!” Kerwin caught up with her, grabbed her wrist, and asked, “What happened?”
He wheeled Betty around, but the next moment, he saw tears flowing over her face. He was taken aback.
Betty screamed like a madman. “Let go of me! Mom needs surgery! Let go!”
Kerwin’s face darkened. He didn’t release Betty but locked her in his arms and bellowed, “Betty, calm down! Your mom’s surgery can’t be delayed. It’ll be too late when you come there. Let me ask Peter to arrange for it.” Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“No need…” Betty unconsciously refused his help, but she paused when she saw his face clouded
over.
“Betty! Why are you so stubborn? Don’t you want your mom to get stabilized?” Kerwin snapped. But
his voice turned soft when he saw Betty’s pale face and watchful eyes. “I’m your husband. At this time, could you please rely on me?”
Could you please rely on me?
Betty seemed to hear something astonishing. She looked up at Kerwin dazedly.
She didn’t expect Kerwin who was so proud would say such words to her.
He implored her to rely on him.
Seeing Betty regain her composure, Kerwin fished out his phone and called Peter, “Hi, Peter. Go to the hospital. Betty’s mom suddenly needs surgery. Arrange for it and pay the medical bills.”
When Kerwin said on the phone, he hung his head low and fixed his gaze on Belly.
Betty cast down her eyes, like a child who did wrong. She didn’t refuse his help this time.
Kerwin hung up the phone, took Betty’s hand, and said in an undertone, “Let’s go. I will take you to
the hospital.”
With that, he took Betty out.
When they reached the hallway, Betty thought of something and said anxiously, “Kerwin, your wheelchair…”
Jason told her that Kerwin faked disabled to let his brother’s guard down. If someone saw Kerwin standing, he might get into trouble.
Kerwin came to a stop and gave Betty a sideways look A faint smile spread over his face. “Are you
afraid someone finds out my disguise?”
Betty nodded her head and took the wheelchair out. “Sit. Let me wheel you out.”
Sitting in the wheelchair that was pushed by Betty, herwin felt much better.
Betty cares about me, right?
They got into the car and the driver drove them to the hospital.
It was a short journey, but Betty was so anxious that she couldn’t wait to reach the hospital.
Suddenly, she felt warmth from her hand
Taken by surprise, she turned around and saw Kerwin holding her hand.
Betty’s hand was cold and herwin’s warm hand that was holding hers reassured her.
The car reached the hospital. Once the car pulled over, betty couldn’t wait to get out of the car and forgot Kerwin who was taking disabled
When she ran to the operating room, Peter saw her and rose to his feet quickly, ‘Mrs. Martin.”
At that time, a nurse came out. Betty came over to her. “Nurse, what’s going on with my mom.
The nurse said briefly, “The surgery is too urgent and the patient takes more risks. Anyway, I wished it went well.”
With that, she left anxiously.
Betty slumped on the floor.
Her mom needed surgery to recover. However, her mom was in bad condition and the success rate of surgery was low, so she decided to let her mom have surgery after medications.
She didn’t expect her mom’s condition to worsen all of a sudden and needed surgery. The success rate of urgent surgery must be lower.
The more she thought about it, the more she was worried. She curled up on the floor and shivered with fear.
If her mom could not pull through… What should she do…?
“Betty, I’ve told you. Don’t sit on the ground.”
When Betty was worried, a low and husky voice came from behind her. Before she realized what had happened, she was sitting on Kerwin’s lap.
“Kerwin…” Betty was stunned.
Looking at Betty’s pale face and feeling her cold body, Kerwin felt as if his heart had been stabbed by a knife. He wiped off the tears on the corner of her eyes and whispered, “Don’t worry. I’m here.”
Such a brief sentence set Betty’s racing heart at rest.
Betty felt exhausted. She didn’t avoid getting his help this time, but nodded her head, curled up in his arms, and watched the signal light of the operating room.
Betty’s body was leaning against him and her fragrance greeted his nostril. Kerwin felt his heart melt because of her.
After some time, Betty finally saw the signal light turned off.
Betty leaped to her feet, rushed to the door, and saw the tired looks of the doctor and nurses.
“Doctor, my… My mom…” Betty stuttered.
The doctor put on a faint smile, “Congrats. Miss White, we made it. Your mom will wake up
tomorrow.”
Her mom could wake up?
Betty felt as if relieved of a heavy load. She wanted to smile at the doctor and say thanks. But her knee went jelly suddenly and she fell.
But she didn’t fall to the cool floor but a warm and strong chest.
Betty raised her head and Kerwin’s handsome face came into her view.
He wheeled himself timely and took hold of her steadily.
Kerwin’s cold face was tinged with a touch of a smile. His big hands touched Betty’s head and stroked her soft hair. He whispered, “That’s great news.”
When she heard that, tears that stood in her eyes rolled down immediately.
Betty felt both relieved and joyful. She reached out and flung her arms around Kerwin’s neck. She smiled and cried. “Yeah. That’s great news…”
