Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO By Woody Rain Chapter 54
Chapter 54 Mom, I’m Married
When Kerwin had dinner with Betty, he received several calls from the office.
Betty was a bit ashamed, thinking that Kerwin had stayed with her for over half a day. She said, “Go to work. I can take care of my mom myself.”
Kerwin looked at Betty. When she gulped down the food, her mouth was stained with some sauce, so he reached out to wipe it off her face.
“I’m leaving. I’ll come here tomorrow,” he said in a low voice. “If you need anything, please tell
me.”
Betty nodded. Seeing Kerwin sitting still, she frowned. “What’s up?”
Kerwin looked at Betty thoughtfully. His fingertip was stained with the sauce previously on Betty’s face. He put it into his mouth and licked it. “Well, you looked very earnest when you nodded.”
Betty was so astonished when she saw Kerwin lick his fingertip that she didn’t listen to Kerwin.
Have we been that close to each other? How could he do that?
Betty would think he or she was dirty if someone else did that. But Kerwin was different. His gesture looked alluring since he had slender fingers and thin lips.
“Earnest?” She blushed, averted her gaze, and asked.
“If you are in need, will you really ask me for help?” Kerwin looked at Betty who was avoiding his eyes. A touch of displeasure flashed across his eyes. He cupped her chin and forced her to meet his. gaze. “Betty, I hope you really take me as your husband.”
Husband?
Betty looked into Kerwin’s eyes as bottomless as a pool, feeling dazed.
“I will.” She cast down her eyes. “I promise I’ll tell you first if I’m in need.”
Only then did Kerwin curve his lips into a satisfied smile. “Good.”
He released his grip on Betty’s chin, turned around, and left.
Watching his receding figure, Betty suddenly called out to him, “Kerwin!”
He turned his head and saw Betty’s blushed face. She said awkwardly, “Thank you.”
Somehow, Kerwin was very delighted at her thanks. A smile lifted the corner of his lips. “Don’t mention it.”
Betty stayed in the hospital that night. Thankfully, Kerwin changed her mom’s ward into a private one, so she could move a small bed in and have some sleep.
The next morning, the coughing sound woke Betty up.
She opened her drowsy eyes and found her mom had come to herself.
“Mom!” Betty leaped to her mom’s bed. “How are you? Are you feeling well? Do I need to call a doctor?”
“I’m okay.” Sherry’s face was still pale. Her eyes glinted with pleasure. She ran her fingers through
Betty’s hair, her eyes trembling. “Betty… Betty… Let me have a close look… It’s been a long time…”
Betty’s eyes ran with tears. She choked with sobs. “It’s been two years… Mom… You’ve slept for two
years.
On that terrible night, she not only lost her virginity but two people she loved deeply.
One was her beloved man, Jeffrey Martin, who vanished into the air suddenly.
The other was her only family, Sherry White, who was stricken with a severe illness and fell into a
coma.
Sherry gave a wry smile, coughed, and held Betty’s hand. “I’m sorry. Betty, I’m not a good mother. These years, I am burdening you so much. You…”
Sherry paused when she saw the diamond ring on Betty’s slender figure.
“Betty.” Sherry got excited, “You… You got married?”
Betty froze for a moment and laughed. “Yes, mom. I’m married.”
Sherry didn’t have a successful marriage, so she always wished Betty could marry a good man. Therefore, Betty didn’t hide her marriage from her mom.
“I’m so happy for you…” Sherry wept for joy. “Is he Jeffrey? Did you get married after graduation?” Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Betty trembled slightly.
Her mom was unconscious for two years, so she didn’t know what happened two years ago.
She pursed her lips. “Not him. Jeffrey and I broke up.”
Sherry was surprised and said hurriedly, “Betty. I’m sorry. I don’t know that… It’s okay. It has passed. Now you already have a happy life, right?”
Betty nodded with a smile, trying to conceal the bitterness in her eyes.
Sherry took a close look at Betty’s wedding ring and revealed a happier smile. “Seems he’s a reliable man.”
Betty’s eyes flashed.
Mom wants me to marry an ordinary man instead of a rich and powerful man. So, she’s very happy when she sees the simple type of wedding ring on my finger.
However, if she knows I marry Jeffrey’s uncle who’s rich and powerful, what will she do?
Forget it.
Betty planned to buy dinner for Sherry. Suddenly, knocking sounds were coming from the door.
Betty stiffened.
Her mom didn’t have friends in Chicago. Who would visit her at this hour?
Betty went to open the door and saw Kerwin and Peter. Kerwin was sitting in the wheelchair, while Peter was taking a fruit basket and meal boxes.
“Kerwin?” Betty was taken by surprise.
“Betty, who?” Sherry asked.
Betty was at a loss for what to say.
Hearing Sherry’s voice, Kerwin raised his brows and opened his mouth. “Mrs. White, I’m here to see you.”
Betty flushed, opened the door, and let them in.
Kerwin wheeled his wheelchair to Sherry’s bed. Seeing Sherry look at him with an astonished look, he put on a faint smile and said politely, “Mrs. White, I am Kerwin Martin. I should have visited you earlier, but this plan was delayed as I heard you were not so well.”
Sherry looked at Kerwin and then Betty whose face was red. Then she realized something. “Ah. You’re Betty’s husband? Well, you’re different from what I imagine.”
Kerwin smiled faintly without making any reply. He gestured for Peter to put down the meal boxes and fruit basket. “Mrs. White, I guess you haven’t had lunch yet. I prepare some homemade dishes for you.”
Betty walked over, opened the meal boxes, and saw the homemade dishes cooked by Lillian. She started feeding Sherry carefully.
Sherry had been unconscious for two years, so she couldn’t eat anymore after swallowing some food. She looked Kerwin up and down and said, “Your name is Kerwin Martin, right? Could I ask what your occupation is?”
