Chapter 55 Murder
Chapter 55 Murder
"I got it."
Henry narrowed his eyes. Just as he had guessed, they were heading south.
Maybach sped up again. Lucas glanced at the navigation app on his phone. "I've got my men to
prepare some supplies at the rest station 100 kilometres away."
"Prepare more."
Henry's face turned cold. He knew very well what Lucas was talking about, but he still felt uneasy.
He felt even more frustrated as he thought of Luz. He didn't know how scared she was now. Thankfully,
Mia was with her.
"If you can't let her go so easily, you should start over with her after this."
Lucas couldn't help himself. Henry was a good person normally, but he tended to get stubborn when it
came to his relationship with Luz.
"Shut up. You'd better pray that nothing happens to her, or you're not going live this down."
"Bros before hoes..."
Before he could finish, Henry glared at him, so he shut up obligingly.
They do have to rescue the two women, or he wouldn't be able to stay in North City anymore.
Luz sat in the van, feeling more and more flustered. She had already scattered half a bag of flour, but
still, no one spotted her signal for help.
If this continued, she and Mia would be killed.
Suddenly, Henry's face appeared in her anxiety-ridden mind, along with all her repressed feelings for
him.
Mia noticed her red eyes and nudged her lightly. These people were clearly meeting with their boss, so
they should be fine as long as the van was still moving. Once they stop, though, they would be in grave Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
danger.
She clenched her fists again to try and get out of her bonds. They still have a chance before the van
stops.
Luz quickly swallowed down her complicated emotions and continued sprinkling the flour in hopes that
someone would notice and save them.
"Boss, there seems to be a traffic jam ahead."
The driver said uneasily while pressing the horn.
The man with the scar immediately poked his head out of the car and looked ahead before saying in
relief, "It's not a police block. There's a car accident ahead. Don't panic."
"Okay."
The man nodded, hoping to get through the spot where the accident was as soon as possible. As long
as they meet up with their boss, they would be fine.
Luz and Mia looked at each other and saw the renewed hope in each other's eyes. They doubled their
respective efforts to save themselves.
Henry's Maybach sped up to the highest speed, surpassing countless cars along the way. His perfect
driving skills and sufficient momentum left the other cars far behind.
The navigation system in the car announced helpfully, "There is slow traffic ahead for 10 kilometres."
"No way, there's a traffic jam?" Lucas groaned. His eyes had been working like a scanner the entire
time, surveying every suspicious van in front of them. At the speed they were going, they might be able
to catch up with the drug dealers, but now, with the traffic...
Hopefully, the van would be caught in the slow traffic as well.
"Where are the police?"
Henry frowned. He quickly turned the steering wheel and the car swerved into the emergency lane.
"About 30 kilometers behind us."
These policemen were more efficient than usual today.
"Ask them to contact the traffic police and clear up the traffic jam. Have they sent people to patrol the
front exit?"
"Don't worry, that's all done."
Lucas didn't dare to joke around. They were really going to be heroes today.
After getting the information he wanted, Henry relaxed his frown a little, but when his eyes fell on the
slow car in front of him, and he became more anxious.
Just as he was about to hit the horn to make the car in front move a little, he suddenly found a white
mark on the road, like flour sprinkled on the road.
Something flashed across his mind and he slowed down a little. Just as he expected, there was
another white mark in front. He raised his eyebrows. "They are still on this highway, not too far from
us."
Lucas was shocked by his sudden words. "How do you know?"
Were he and Luz telepathic or something?
"Look at the road ahead."
Henry stretched out his hand and pointed. The flour would have been blown away after some time, so
since he could still see it clearly, it was clear that the flour had just been poured.
"You got that from that?" Lucas was impressed. On a road with so many kinds of trucks, the white
marks could be anything. He thought that Henry was thinking too much.
"I believe in my intuition."
With a cold voice, he stepped on the gas pedal, and the Maybach wove between the cars, following the
trail.
Luz Boone, you better be safe!
Luz hoped that the traffic jam would last forever, but it seemed like the fates were against them today.
The traffic cleared up quickly and the car began to pick up speed again.
"Boss, we got through."
The driver said excitedly as if their escape was already guaranteed.
"Take the next exit. Boss is waiting for us there."
The man with the scar pointed to the sign next to him. Luz and Mia's faces turned pale. They were less
than 30 kilometres away from the next exit. Once the van leaves the highway and reaches wherever
the drug dealers were meeting, the two of them would be in trouble.
"What should I do? Am I really going to die like this?" Luz thought desperately.
Mia's wrist was bleeding, but she didn't dare to stop for a moment. Hopefully, the police knew the
general direction they were heading and had stationed blocks on every exit off the highway. If they did,
then they still had a chance to escape.
Luz grabbed more flour. Their journey was going to end anyway, so she wasn't worried about wasting
the flour.
It would be impossible for the cars behind to not notice if she threw out handfuls of flour at once unless
the drivers were blind.
It would only take the van about 20 minutes to drive 30 kilometres. She threw out a handful of flour just
as the can swerved. With nothing holding her steady, Luz found herself flung to the side by the
momentum.
She felt a sharp pain at the side of her head. She must have had a concussion, but when she saw the
toll in front of the van, she quickly sobered up.
D*mn it, they were already at the exit. They were close to the meeting spot.
Mia's eyes were also filled with anxiety. She tugged hard at the ropes around her hands and scraped
off quite a lot of skin, but finally, she managed to free her bloody hands.
There was a hint of joy in Luz's eyes, but she quickly hid it and leaned towards Mia.
"Slow down, do you want people to suspect that you are running for your life?"
