She admired Tobias. In the past, Tobias had fallen asleep because of the sleeping pills. Now that he
was running a high fever, he could still sleep.
Tobias felt cold all over, and he was feeling dizzy. His whole body felt heavy and sluggish. The wound
on his arm also ached from time to time. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
He got up and reached for his cigarettes. He acted as if he did not hear Skylar's request to go to the
hospital. There was no acknowledgment or reply.
Skylar stopped Tobias from smoking and said worriedly, “Did you hear what I just said? Let's go to the
hospital. Don't smoke anymore. You are burning hot. I wonder if your wound is infected.”
Tobias looked at Skylar in that instant. In the past when he fell ill, no one had ever been that
concerned.
There were not many people in his life who were nice to him. When he got ill as a child, he could only
tough it out. Sheldon had been well taken care of since he was young. As a result, he had no idea how
to take care of others.
His mother had been so busy that she was hardly at home. There was once when he was so ill that he
had to lie in bed for a week.
He finally responded hoarsely, “Forget it. It will cause more trouble if you bring me to the hospital.
Given your current popularity on trending news, isn't it enough?”
Skylar was worried about him and reached out to touch his forehead. She then panicked. “But, look at
your condition now. You must be feeling pretty awful, don't you?”
Tobias put his arm around her shoulders and said, “I'm not that weak. Just let me rest at home for a
day, and I'll be fine.”
Skylar was still worried. It was typical for Tobias to ignore his health.
She pulled the blanket higher. Madelyn was off that day. Only Tobias and her were at home, and she
had been keeping vigil by his side. It was already late, and Tobias had yet to have his breakfast.
Skylar went to the kitchen to prepare some soup for Tobias. He had to eat something before he took
the medicine. Otherwise, it would cause gastric problems.
Tobias asked her, “I'm sick, but you are still going to work? I'm treated so poorly.”
Skylar had yet to see that clingy side of Tobias. She coaxed him as if she was coaxing a child, “Be
good. I'm going to make soup for you. You'll have to drink some soup since you are ill.”
Tobias had no idea where that theory came from. He could not remember what he ate when he got ill.
Plain pasta? Or just a piece of bread?
Every time Claudia talked about things in the past, she would blame herself for not taking better care of
her two sons.
Not every child had a blissful childhood.
However, Tobias never blamed Claudia because he knew their circumstances back then too well.
With so much debt and such difficult family conditions, it was good enough that they could live on.
There was nothing more he could ask for.
Skylar's phone rang, so she dried her hands on her pants before answering it. It was Kate.
She had also wanted to tell Kate that she would not be going to the movie promotional event that day
because she had something urgent at home.
When Kate spoke on the phone, she did it softly just in case Tobias was next to Skylar and he could
hear her.
