Chapter 143
Chapter 143
Jonathan smirked, “Are you missing your dad? Why don’t you send it to him yourself?”
“I’m afraid he’ll think I’m showing off,” Henson chuckled and snorted, “It’s been months, when is he
coming back? Even if I don’t miss him, I miss grandma and grandpa!”
“Almost there!” Jonathan laughed, taking the papers from him, “I’ll send it to your dad later.”
“Alright, thanks!”
As Henson excused himself and began to walk away, he suddenly turned back after taking a few steps.
“Oh, by the way,” he started, “is Ms. Macclain planning to quit?” This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
Jonathan looked up, “Did she say anything?”
“She mentioned that she’d only be teaching me for two more classes. Something doesn’t feel right. Did
you get on her bad side?” Henson frowned.
Jonathan was unhappy inside, “What trouble could I have possibly gotten into with her? I’ll ask her
later. You go to bed!”
“Okay!”
After Henson left, Jonathan’s expression turned serious. He couldn’t help but wonder what Estelle’s
intentions were. Was she deliberately creating a clear boundary between them?
And if she felt wronged by the incident with Manley’s birthday, why hadn’t she explained it to him?
Questions and uncertainties clouded his mind as he pondered the situation.
When he had the thing with Hattie, he was out all night, but she never asked a single question.
Even if they didn’t fall in love with each other, they were still sleeping together, didn’t she care what he
thought?
His anger simmered within him, a boiling cauldron of emotions seeking an outlet. He felt the need to
unleash his frustration on someone tonight, to release the pent–up energy in a burst of fury.
He picked up his phone and called someone, asking outright, “Is the Scott family trying to get involved
in the J City art park development project?”
On the other end of the line, Chuck, who received Jonathan’s call in the middle of the night,
immediately replied nervously, “Yes, the Scott family has already started investing and it’s Manley
who’s personally in charge.”
Jonathan’s face grew cold as he spoke with determination, “Spare no expense and ensure the Scott
family faces consequences. I want Manley to lose face.” Chuck, taken aback for a moment, nodded
and replied, “Yes, I’ll take care of it.”
Jonathan hung up the phone, and half of his anger was released, but he couldn’t take the other half.
He opened his contacts and found Estelle, wanting to confront her, but then he saw the previous
message she had sent him.
Telling him that it was over – she would move out as soon as possible.
For a moment, he didn’t know what to ask her.
The next day, Henson came downstairs for breakfast and found Jonathan there too.
He greeted Jonathan and sat down to eat his meal. Norah had gone on an international trip with her
classmates and had been gone for four or five days.
Halfway through breakfast, Jonathan told the servant, “Prepare white wine duck soup for lunch.”
Henson looked up, “Is Ms. Macclain staying for lunch?”
Jonathan’s face remained calm as he spoke, “You’re on the verge of your exams, and you haven’t even
bribed her properly yet. Strive to be at the pinnacle of the school.”
Henson snorted, “Why don’t you just offer a cash prize? If I make it to the top, you give her a reward of
10,000 or 20,000 dollars.”
Jonathan replied, “That works too!”
Henson laughed and said, “Well, when she gets here, I’ll tell her. Maybe she’ll be so happy she won’t
make me do any more papers!” Jonathan smirked, “I think she’ll probably make you do even more!”
Henson paused for a moment, then realized, “In that case, I won’t tell her!”
Jonathan wore a gentle smile, radiating warmth, and appeared to be in high spirits.
