Chapter 155
Chapter 155
Estelle chuckled, “Let’s talk about it when your grades come out. If you don’t do well, I’ll be too
embarrassed to come back
Henson snorted, “That’s not something you need to worry about. I won’t embarrass you!”
“I believe in you!” Estelle slung her backpack over her shoulder. “Even if I don’t come anymore, we can
still play games together every day.”
Henson furrowed his brow, asking, “What do you mean by that?”
Estelle glanced back at Henson and replied, “It’s nothing, please don’t overthink it.”
Henson’s eyes darted around for a moment before he suggested, “Once my exams are over, let’s go
horseback riding together.”
Estelle thought for a moment before saying, “After I finish tutoring, I need to find another job. I don’t
know if I’ll have time, we’ll just have to keep in touch by phone.”
“You’re really busy!” Henson pouted.
“No choice, I need to make money!” Estelle shrugged. “I’m leaving now, good luck with your exams!”
“Yeah, yeah!” Henson said with an impatient expression.
Estelle laughed and turned to leave.
When Jonathan returned that evening, Fabian informed him, “Ms. Macclain said today was her last
class. I settled her wages for the whole month and paid her.”
Jonathan’s brow furrowed with concern as he asked, “Did she quit?”
Fabian nodded in confirmation, explaining, “Ms. Macclain informed me that she found another job and
may not have the availability to continue tutoring after the summer break. She requested that I keep
this information from Henson for now.”
A fleeting expression of displeasure passed over Jonathan’s face, but he composed himself and
responded, “Understood. Thank you for letting me know.”
Feeling more upset as he thought about it, Jonathan picked up his phone and made a call.
Once connected, he directly asked, “Why didn’t you tell me you quit?”
Estelle didn’t expect him to confront her directly over the phone, hesitated for a moment, and then
replied calmly, “I told Fabian.”
Jonathan asked, “Who’s your employer?”
Estelle remained silent, her thoughts concealed.
Jonathan gazed out into the dark night before breaking the silence with a question, “What kind of job
did you find?”
Estelle’s response held a touch of defiance as she replied, “Do I really need to report that to you, Mr.
Lamont?”
Jonathan scoffed, a hint of frustration in his voice, “I’m ‘Uncle‘ when you need me, and ‘Mr. Lamont‘
when you don’t. You certainly know how to make a distinction.”
Estelle found herself at a loss for words, uncertain of how to respond. After a moment of silence,
Jonathan said softly, “Our issues have nothing to do with Henson. He really likes you, and it was hard
for him to accept a tutor in the first place. If he has to change tutors again, he’ll just throw a fit, and his
grades may be affected. If you don’t want to see me anymore, we can avoid meeting when you come
over. But there’s no need to take it out on Henson.”
Estelle blushed, embarrassed. “I didn’t involve Henson. I was just afraid you didn’t want to see me.”
“I don’t!” Jonathan blurted out.
He immediately felt annoyed with himself and purposely spoke coldly, “Well, that’s it. Let’s proceed with
the tutoring after the break‘ Then he hung up the phone.
Estelle’s brows furrowed as she stared at her phone, deep in thought.
Emily approached with a plate of cut fruit, a playful smile on their face. “What’s troubling you? Who was
on the phone?” Estelle’s expression remained tense as she asked, “Why is it that I can’t bring myself to
get angry at someone who infuriates me?” “At that, huh!” Emily’s eyes sparkled mischievously, tilting
his head with a grin. “If it’s a guy, it’s probably because you like him.” Estelle gasped and threw her Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
phone to the side with a disgusted look. She muttered under her breath, “I don’t like him!”
“Who is it?” Emily became even more curious
Estelle hesitated for a moment and replied, “A distant uncle!”
Emily immediately said, “Ah, a relative. Then it must be because you respect him!”
Estelle went speechless.
