Chapter 509

Chapter 509

Brushing Sean aside, Joshua spoke to Cynthia, “You should go first. I have some business to discuss with him.”

“He’s not a good man,” Cynthia wamed.

“Ms. Yates, isn’t it impolite to speak of someone in their presence?” Sean chuckled, one hand in his pocket.

Cynthia responded flatly, “And isn’t it worse to take advantage of someone in a difficult situation?”

Sean raised an eyebrow in intrigue.

He was genuinely curious about Ms. Yates, who seemed to understand him so well

“Why are you showing so much hostility toward me? I just saved your life,” Sean asked, dragging out his words.

Cynthia stayed silent.

She was loath to admit it.

However, it was indeed the case.

“Do you think you were the one who saved her?” Joshua suddenly chimed in.

Sean maintained his smile. He silently cursed Joshua as a cunning swindler, playing mind games even at a time like this. Quickly, he changed his words, “No, you were the one who sawed her.”

“You go first,” Joshua suggested, feeling a dizzy spell coming on. His vision was growing dark, and his ears were buzzing. He knew he could not hold out much longer “Once I’m better, I’ll contact you. He still needs me to do him a favor. He won’t leave me in the lurch.” After saying this, he nudged Sean with his elbow,

Sean, not knowing what Joshua was up to, nevertheless spoke up. “He’s right.”

“You’re really not coming with me?

“I have things to do.”

In his curt response, Cynthia detected a coldness in Joshua’s eyes. She wanted to insist on taking him to the hospital. However, given their current relationship, it seemed inappropriate. Since he was resolute, she did not press further.

Continuing the conversation would only delay Sean’s efforts to get Joshua medical attention.

In the end, she told him, “Call me if you need anything and don’t trust Sean blindly. He’s as cunning as you are.”

“Alright, I’ll red your advice.” Joshua just wanted Cynthia to leave quickly, as he was losing his strength.

Cynthia nodded.

She took a few steps, then turned to look back, but eventually, she left.

Although Sean was a psychiatrist, he had many friends in the medical field. Even if Joshua’s fever was severe, they could treat

“Your ex–wife is really interesting. She keeps bad–mouthing me in front of my face,” Sean commented, hands in his pockets, “Hmm,” Joshua merely responded, his gaze lingering on Cynthia until she disappeared from sight.

Sean chuckled, about to make a sarcastic remark, when he saw Joshua faint.

“Joshua!” He managed to catch him just in time. Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

As he was about to say something, he felt a damp spot where he caught him, and remembered their previous mention of a

Suddenly, a sense of foreboding arose within him.

Pulling his hand away from Joshua’s back, he saw blood on his palm. His eyes scammed the yacht, spotting a few drops of blood where Joshua had just been standing.

Sean gritted his teeth, ready to berate him, “Joshua, you are quite troublesome. No wonder you were rushing your ex–wife to leave, even thoughs you were clearly reluctant.”

Sean had thought that Joshua was a man of his word. Now, it seemed like it was all a nose to get Cynthia to leave.
