Chapter 510

Chapter 510

He pinched his brow and pulled out his phone to make a call. In a short while, Joshua was taken away.

Meanwhile, Cynthia had turned down the person Sean had arranged for her and was about to borrow a phone to call Captain when she saw Captain driving toward her. His eyebrows were furrowed as if he was worried about something.

The car pulled to a stop in front of her.

Matthew stepped out of the car and looked her over from head to toe, asking, “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine.” Cynthia shook her head.

“And Joshua?” Matthew asked further. With such a severe gunshot wound, the situation could turn perilous if not treated in time.

Cynthia answered straightforwardly, “Sean took him. He said he would get the best doctor for Joshua”

Upon hearing this, Matthew was somewhat relieved

He knew who Sean was, and with him involved, there should not be any significant issues.

That’s good. Get in the car.” Matthew’s worries abated once he was certain of her safety

“Alright.”

Once in the

Cynthia Inquired whether Matthew had been injured. Receiving a negative response, she felt relieved.

They drove toward Nexuria.

Queneska Island was a five to six–hour drive from Nexuria. With no nearby airports or high–speed rail stations, talding the highway was the quickest option.

Since getting into the car, Cynthia had felt a strange unease that only heightened after they hit the highway.

Matthew noticed her state. “What’s the matter?

“Nothing “Cynthia took a deep breath to steady herself and shifted her focus elsewhere

“I’ve left the matter of Queneska Island to them. Yerick and his gang have been apprehended. As for the bombs on Queneska Island and the ship, they’ve destroyed the switches, and they will make sure they are all defused.” Matthew thought she was worried about this and informed her.

“Good,” Cynthia responded, her tone somewhat flat.

She did not ask Captain how he knew there were bombs under Queneska Island.

The organization had the most advanced micro–scanning drones. A quick scan of the terrain would reveal whether there were any buried bombs.

“Cynthia”

“Are

re you scared?” Matthew glanced at her, the car still moving forward.

Given Cynthia’s past experiences, it was unlikely that she was scared. However, her current state was off, which led him to Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

question

Cynthia noticed her odd behavior as well. She shook her head. “No, I am just wondering what kind of deal Joshua made with Sean. Considering Sean’s character, he would not help someone without a significant incentive.”

She had noticed when they left that Captain’s and Sean’s teams were evenly split. Without either side, the operation would not have been so smooth

“We’ll look into it slowly once we get back. You should rest now. I will wake you up when we reach home.” Matthes

worried about her state.

Cynthia initially wanted to decline. However, she had not had proper rest in the past few days. With the danger now past and her nerves no longer on edge, fatigue was beginning to set in.

She agreed and closed her eyes to rest.

Matthew was focused on driving throughout the five to six–hour journey. He received a call from Jimmy along the way, confirming that Cynthia was unharmed and en route back. After the brief check–in, he hung up the phone. By the time they reached Nexuria, it was just past five in the afternoon

Cynthia and Matthew stepped out of the car together. She had not slept much on the way, having awoken around two. The two of them rode the elevator up in silence, perhaps due to the overwhelming events they had just experienced or perhaps because both had matters weighing on their minds.
