After looking around, Skylar felt a bit disappointed. “Grandma Viola cleaned the second floor but didn’t leave any useful information. Let’s check downstairs.”
“Can I take a look at the porcelain you restored?” Joe asked.
“Sure, you can pick it up. There are no traps underneath,” Skylar replied, glancing back at the porcelain.
After they finished talking, she suddenly noticed that there seemed to be a few more books on the shelf. She quickly walked over to examine them while Joe carefully observed the porcelain. He couldn’t help but admire Skylar’s talent.
At 15, Skylar’s restoration skills were extraordinary, and he knew hardly anyone in Jipsburg could do what
she did.
He noticed a sticky note attached to the bottom as he was about to put the porcelain back.
He was about to mention it to Skylar, but seeing her engrossed in her reading, he decided not to disturb
her.
He discreetly peeled the sticky note off. The note had words written on it. At first, he thought it was just an introduction to the porcelain. Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
But as he read the words, his expression changed dramatically, and a flicker of alarm crossed his face.
Yet, within just a few minutes, he regained his composure and slipped the note into his pocket. He gently set the porcelain down and walked over to Skylar.
Looking down at her as she focused intently on the book, a mixture of emotions flickered in his eyes- concern, reluctance, and a tinge of sorrow.
Skylar continued flipping through the new books, unaware of Joe standing beside her. She recognized these books from the library, but they held no valuable information, leaving her somewhat let down.
Skylar sighed with a hint of disappointment as she turned to Joe and said, “Let’s go.”
She had expected him to be engrossed in examining the porcelain. Yet, there he was, standing right
beside her.

Joe’s gaze was intense as he looked at her. Skylar felt puzzled under his scrutinizing gaze. “Is there something on my face?”
She touched her cheek, unsure if there was anything amiss.
Joe quickly averted his eyes. “Nothing, let’s go.”
Skylar shrugged it off. Joe’s thoughts were often hard to read, and he might simply be feeling bored.
After leaving Viola’s house, Skylar led Joe through the small village. It wasn’t large, but they could explore the entire place in about half an hour.
That evening, they settled for a simple bowl of pasta for dinner. With the television at home broken, they sát in the yard afterward, lost in thought while occasionally glancing at their phones.
Joe was preoccupied, his expression serious as he typed away on his phone. Seeing this, Skylar decided not to interrupt him.
Instead, she sent a quick WhatsApp message to Alexander, letting him know about Viola’s recent return. Alexander replied promptly.

“If Viola hasn’t been kidnapped, then those letters… Skye, we need to reconsider this matter. You don’t
have much time left.”
Skylar felt a wave of concern wash over her as she read Alexander’s message. If Viola had indeed written. the letter without any coercion, it meant what she had said was true.
She couldn’t continue to be involved in the negative events surrounding Jipsburg City, and she needed to divorce Joe. After pondering for a moment, she contacted Aiken for an update.
Aiken responded just a few minutes later. “I just learned that Madam Viola returned to the countryside five days ago and left three days ago. She should be in Jipsburg now. We should be able to locate her in about three days.”
Skylar hadn’t expected Aiken to act so quickly. He had already found out that Viola had returned to the countryside. It seemed they would find her soon–as long as they located Viola, all her questions would finally have answers.
