Natalie couldn’t understand why Jeremy couldn’t grasp her decision.
Many people would open up their innermost thoughts in front of Jeremy, yet he couldn’t see her decision or the specific reasons behind the end of their marriage.
“Our issues…” Jeremy’s expression grew colder and darker.
Whatever the initial cause of what happened between him and Annabelle, it was clear that he was indeed wavering. Though Natalie was straightforward and innocent, it didn’t mean she was unaware of his past relationship with Anabelle. He knew this.
But he had only cheated on her that one time. 1
“It won’t happen again. Nath, it’s time to come home,” Jeremy said in a deep,
resonant voice.
At the mention of “home“, Natalie’s tears flowed freely. “Our home is gone, Jeremy. I admit I may be petty, but our relationship ended the day we divorced.”
She knew exactly who she was and who Jeremy was, so their relationship couldn’t be repaired. Jeremy’s body tensed, his features sharpening with
intensity. The room fell into a heavy silence.
Suddenly, Jeremy took a step closer to Natalie. The room, already small, now felt even tighter. There was only a single step between them.
Natalie could hear his breathing. He was angry.
Wiping her tears away, Natalie looked at Jeremy with red eyes and took

another step back. She increased their distance and said, “We need to move on.
At that moment, she was more certain than ever that their relationship was confined to the past, with no future left.
The past between Jeremy and Annabelle wasn’t the only barrier. Natalie also had her own understanding of the old Jeremy.
Since their marriage, Jeremy had gradually changed, and she no longer
recognized him. And she had changed as well.
So, they were both different now. The end of their marriage was due to both Jeremy and her.
Jeremy lowered his gaze to Natalie. “We need to move forward. Everything that happened in the past can be forgotten. Let’s start fresh now.”
Natalie started crying again. “Jeremy, can you please stop this? I really don’t know how to face you anymore.”
Jeremy reached out to wipe Natalie’s tears. Natalie suddenly took a step back. Jeremy’s hand froze in mid–air.
At that moment, a knock came at the door.
A deep, gentle voice followed. “Is anyone there?”
The simple words revealed the identity of the visitor.
It was Austin.
Jeremy’s expression darkened instantly, and his demeanor became menacing. Natalie glanced at him quickly before rushing to open the door. “Mr. Powell, I’m
here.”
As the door opened, Austin’s face appeared. He glanced inside with a neutral expression and spotted Jeremy.
Jeremy also looked at Austin.
Their gazes met, and the atmosphere immediately became tense.
Natalie regretted opening the door. She had been crying, and her eyes were still red. She had let Austin see her in such a state, and Jeremy was still there.
“Mr. Powell, is there something you need? I have… a friend here,” Natalie said, taking a deep breath.
Austin looked away and turned his gaze toward Natalie. Noticing her red, swollen eyes, he frowned slightly and said, “There’s an event at the studio tonight. Do you want to come?”
Natalie hesitated for a moment, thinking about the unresolved situation with Jeremy. She nodded quickly and said, “Yes, I’ll come. I’ll just get ready and head over.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for you, and then we can head over together,” Austin said. He had no intention of leaving. Instead, he stood by the door.
Jeremy was visibly irritated by this. He glared at Austin with anger.
Austin seemed oblivious to Jeremy’s hostility and simply leaned against the side of the door!
