Chapter 82
Chapter 82
Even when Candice had reached the hotel, she wasn’t feeling any better. That was why she didn’t
notice the atmosphere between Alex and Sonia.
After letting them know, she then returned to her own room. She didn’t switch on the light and sat in the
room for a long time. Then she gave Yvonne a call.
Yvonne was probably busy at the time. She was still gasping for air when she picked up the call. She
didn’t even realize that the person calling was Candice and simply asked, “Who is it?”
“It’s me.” Candice said as she stood by the window, looking at the pouring rain outside. When Yvonne
heard her voice, she was stunned. And then, she asked hesitatingly, “Why did you suddenly call me?”
There were very few mothers who would ask their daughters why they would call them in such a
respectful
tone.
Candice closed her eyes and faced the room that was filled with darkness. “Nothing. Just want to know
how you’re doing lately.”
Yvonne stopped, becoming somewhat embarrassed as she mumbled, “Not that good. Peach is in the
hospital
again.”
Upon hearing her tone, Candice fell silent.
Yvonne then carefully probed her. “How are you doing lately, Candice?”
Candice then said with a stiff expression, “I’m on an out-of-town assignment in Stugan City.”
“Oh, you’re on a work trip,” Yvonne said and then asked, “Can you transfer me some more money?
Peach,
she…”
“Her father was asking me for money.” Candice didn’t let Yvonne finish and cut her off.
She turned around and pushed open the window, letting the wind and rain inside. She then asked, “Did
you give him all the money I gave you in the past?”
Yvonne explained bitterly, “What else can I do?”
Candice hung up, suddenly feeling helpless.
All these years, she had given Yvonne a large sum of money, thinking that Peach was still so little, and
that
Yvonne was her mother.
Who could have known?
Candice felt her head hurting. She slowly went to wash up before going to bed.
She then wouldn’t know that Sonia and Alex were still giving each other the silent treatment.
Sonia felt sorry for herself. After Nina and Ava had humiliated her, not only did Alex not protect her, he
had
even sided with Candice and told her to leave.

She was his girlfriend.
When Sonia recalled Candice, there was a hint of hatred in her eyes.
She closed her eyes, growing somewhat nervous. She hadn’t felt the type of inferiority she had when
facing Candice for a long time after she got together with Alex.
Alex was still working in the next room. Sonia walked over barefooted. She stood by the door. When Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
she saw Alex wasn’t responding, then she walked in.
She squatted down, extended her hands, and held him by the waist. She then said as she sobbed,
“Alex, do you despise me?”
Alex’s hands that were striking away at the keyboard stopped as he said, “No.”
When he said that, his eyes were still on the screen. He didn’t so much as glance at Sonia.
Sonia could see his expression with her eyes. She was feeling frustrated but didn’t dare to show it in
front of
Alex.
She calmed down a little and then raised her eyes to look at his screen. She asked, “What are you
working on?”
“It’s nothing.” Alex said as he put in the last digit and then switched off the computer. Then he looked
down at
Sonia.
His voice was deep and gentle, with a shade of helplessness. “Don’t think too much about it. Aren’t you
tired
after everything today? Get some rest.”
“I want you to accompany me,” Sonia whined as she held him.
Alex’s hands froze a little and then patted her arms as if consoling her. “I have work.”
Sonia bit her lips and said, “Why do you have so much work?”
After that, she worried Alex believed that she wanted to do something with him. She quickly added,
“Work’s
important, but so is your body.”
