Chapter 484
Chapter 484
Fresh off the set, Sasha's makeup was still camera-ready, and her lips were painted a vibrant shade of Marilyn red.
The color had smeared all around the straw of her bubble tea, which Dr. Chase, a man typically obsessive about cleanliness, seemed to ignore as he accidentally kissed the crimson mark on the straw. Then he took several more sips, nodding with satisfaction. "Not bad, not bad at all. Behave, and I'll treat you to another one next time."
After his comment, he ruffled Sasha's hair as if she were a mischievous kitten, causing her to bite her lip in silent frustration.
"Chase, you drank my bubble tea!" she accused.
With a quirk on his brow, he shot back, "I bought it for you. Can't I have a sip? You really are an ungrateful little thing."
Sasha, exasperated by his feigned ignorance, grabbed a napkin and furiously wiped the straw. "Did you even brush your teeth before guzzling down my drink? Your breath must be foul. How am I supposed to enjoy it now?"
Hearing her complaint, Chase, who had just straightened up, leaned in close again, his eyes—those damn seductive windows to his soul—fixating on her. "Brushed 'em right before I left. Want to check?"
As he spoke, his lips inched closer to Sasha's. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
She panicked and blocked his mouth with her hand. "Chase, if you dare kiss me, I swear I'll end you right here!"
His warm lips brushed against the palm of her hand; a low chuckle reached her ears.
"I'm just trying to make a point. Who said anything about a kiss? Though, if you're interested, bump up my salary, and I might consider it."
"Get lost!"
With a forceful slap to the back of his hand, she felt a sting of sweet retaliation.
Chase drew a sharp breath, a mischievous smile on his face. "With that fiery temper, a kiss would probably take years off my life. No thanks."
Then, he settled back into his seat and started the car.
Sasha glared at him, fuming silently. "One of these days," she thought, "this infuriating man would be the death of her."
Distracted, she sipped her bubble tea and opened WeChat on her phone, her irritation melting away as she saw Clara's message with her godson's ultrasound photo.
[Look, Sasha, here's your godson's pic. Handsome little guy, isn't he?]
Forgetting her earlier annoyance, Sasha smiled at Chase, holding up the phone. "Clara's having a boy. Look how cute he is!"
Chase's lips curved into a smile at her candid excitement. "You've got a godson now. How about treating me to dinner tonight to celebrate?"
Without hesitation, Sasha agreed. "Where to? Pick anywhere you like. My treat, in honor of the happy news."
"Alright," Chase said. "There's this new amusement park with a Ferris wheel restaurant. They say the view is incredible, and the food's top-notch. Shall we?"
"Perfect. I'll book us a spot."
As they worked out the details, Chase's phone rang with the hospital's number. He answered immediately.
"Chase, we've got a post-op patient in bed 28 with severe vomiting and a persistent fever. We need you here ASAP."
He floored the accelerator and sped towards the hospital. Once there, he ushered Sasha into his office, pressing her into a seat before donning his white coat. "Wait here for me. I'll be back as soon as I can."
Though Sasha was uncomfortable being sidelined, she understood the weight of his responsibilities. She had learned that such emergencies were part of the deal with Chase.
For once, she nodded obediently. "Go on, then. I'll use this chance to look over the script."
Dressed for duty, Chase threw Sasha a complex look before heading out to save lives.
