Chapter 485

Chapter 485

Two hours had ticked by, and Chase was still nowhere to be seen.

Once more, the Ferris Wheel Restaurant called.

“Ms. Sasha, when will you be arriving? We'll have to cancel your reservation if you’re not here within the next thirty minutes.”

Sasha glanced out the door and replied, “Alright, if I’m not there in half an hour, go ahead and cancel.”

After hanging up, she stepped outside.

She had filmed here before and knew exactly where the operating room was located.

Sasha made a beeline for the elevator, which ascended to the tenth floor before halting.

Just as she was about to head toward the operating room, the sound of a woman's soft sobs echoed through the corridor.

“Doctor, our surgery was a success, so why did she still pass away? That poor girl.”

Sasha froze in her tracks.

She recognized the voice. It was Chase’s junior, Amanda.

She could piece together what had happened: the patient they had been trying to save must have died.

But hearing Amanda cry in front of Chase made an inexplicable ache bloom in Sasha’s chest.

Her fingers curled involuntarily as if trying to suppress the unease welling up inside her.

That was when she heard Chase’s voice.

“Amanda, what’s wrong?”

Amanda’s voice was weak. “Doctor, I think I haven’t eaten in a while. I might be hypoglycemic.”

Then, she collapsed into Chase's arms, unconscious.

Without hesitation, Chase scooped her up and dashed out of the stairwell.

He caught sight of Sasha standing at the door.

There was no time for explanations. All he could manage was, “Sasha, head home. I’ve got things to handle here.”

As Sasha watched their retreating figures, her eyes began to sting.

She muttered a curse at the dog of a man.

Then, she boarded the elevator and left without looking back.

Pulling out her phone, she dialed the Ferris Wheel Restaurant. “Hold my reservation. I’ll be there in thirty minutes.”

When Sasha arrived, a long line snaked outside the restaurant.

Couples waited side by side, with only Sasha standing alone.

The hostess looked at her with surprise. “Ms. Sasha, just you tonight?”

Sasha’s gaze was icy. “Is there a problem with dining alone?”

“No, of course not. It’s just unusual. Right this way, please.”

The hostess led Sasha to the Ferris Wheel, where she ordered the most extravagant meal on the menu.

Sitting solo in the Ferris Wheel, Sasha admired the city’s most stunning night view while indulging in a lavish dinner, her spirits finally lifting.

She snapped a photo with her phone and shared it on social media.

After ensuring Amanda was settled in her room with an IV drip and under the watchful eye of a nurse, Chase was ready to leave. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

“Amanda grabbed his sleeve, her eyes pleading. “Doctor, I haven’t eaten all day. Could you bring me back something to eat?”

Chase frowned slightly, his voice firm. “I’ll get you some soup from downstairs. Rest up.”

Then, he turned and walked away.

The nurse eyed Amanda, her smile warm. “Dr. Amanda, Dr. Chase really looks out for you. You two seem like a match made in heaven, unlike that Sasha. She's totally out of sync with him.”

Amanda offered a faint smile. “Don’t say that. They are officially a couple.”

“A boyfriend isn’t a husband. Besides, Sasha is always out filming, and her relationship with Jackson is all over the place. It's a shame for a man like Dr. Chase.”

At this, a cold smirk crossed Amanda's lips.

Chase left the room and was about to call Sasha to check if she’d gotten home when he saw her latest social media post.

She was riding the Ferris Wheel alone, enjoying the night scenery alone, drinking alone.

Was she planning to down that whole bottle of wine by herself?

Chase gritted his teeth with annoyance. “Sasha, you really think you’re something, don’t you?”
