Chapter 571
But… that made no sense! Lucas Gomez was Aria’s boyfriend! She was helping Aria just now, so if there was anyone Lucas was going to despise, it should be Aria’s sister, not her! RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Lucas stepped forward silently, but before he could speak, the assistant eagerly added, “Mr. Gomez, Aria was only trying to help her sister and take her to Finn Gordon just now, but her sister flat out shoved her away! Aria even sprained her ankle because of her!”
She was saying all this to encourage Lucas to take Aria’s side and help her.
And Aria was currently all misty–eyed. She looked heartrending as she tried to hold back her tears and say, “Don’t… Don’t listen to her, Lucas, My sister… She didn’t mean it. It was actually my fault. I was not careful and tripped over my own feet. That’s why I fell.”
But the more she acted that way, the more the public’s blame shifted onto Serenity, and the more spiteful and domineering Serenity seemed, while Aria looked like the innocent and angelic younger sister who was quietly enduring her older sister’s bullying.
This was exactly what Aria wanted. She wanted to use the fans and the public opinion to trample on Serenity. This way, no one could ever find any fault in her. In fact, if things developed the way she planned, even Jackson Valor could find no excuse to defend Serenity.
After all, she continued to think, right now, she was the kind and forgiving younger sister who would endure anything that Serenity throw at her, who would even defend Serenity no matter what!
But Lucas’s gaze only got more icy and penetrating. He looked Aria dead in the eye. His gaze made Aria feel like she could never conceal anything from him because with just one look, he could see through her and figure out every single thing she had in mind.
Although she was his girlfriend, she always felt that there was a huge gap between them, and that no matter how hard she tried to close that gap, he would never let her get any closer to him
Lucas’s thin lips moved slightly as he uttered curtly, “Of course you fell because you weren’t careful.”
Those words were like a slap on Aria’s face. A slap so hard that she could feel the burning sting!
The image of what she had seen that night flashed in her mind–when she had seen Lucas hugging Serenity at the entrance of
that restaurant.
Even though… Lucas had no idea that Serenity was indeed the little girl he was looking for, he was still somehow attracted to Serenity?!
“As for her,” Lucas said, pointing at Aria’s assistant who had been accusing Serenity just now, “I think there’s no need for her to work with you anymore.”
The assistant was stupefied. Had… Had Mr. Gomez just fired her?!
She broke out in cold sweat. Getting fired by the Prince of Entertainment Industry himself meant that she would have no future at all in this industry because no company would dare to hire her now!
But… But she had done all that to help Aria! She was only trying to flatter Aria just now!
She turned to Aria with a pleading look, but Arla had no time to think of her assistant now, because Lucas’s icy gaze which instantly saw right through her had thoroughly stunned her and made her shudder in fear.
Lucas turned to Serenity and asked her in a voice laced with concern, “Are you okay?
“I’m fine,” she replied in a flat voice. She then turned to Finn Gordon’s assistant, who still appeared to be in shock, and asked,
“Can we go
now?”
“Ah!” the assistant responded quickly, “Yes… Yes, of course!”
She then continued to lead the way as Serenity dragged Lisa, who was feeling guilty right now, and followed the assistant to
