Chapter 117: Can Money Solve Everything?
Chapter 117: Can Money Solve Everything?
A youth of 1.83m walked over from the other side of the corridor as the onlookers gave way to him. He looked youthful but he exuded the seriousness of a middle-aged man.
Hayden was stunned and came to her senses. She grabbed him and said softly, “Why are you here?”
Benjamin looked at Hayden as he assured her by patting the back of her hand and said, “I’m here to watch a thief accusing others of theft. You just had to accuse a pitiful young girl of theft. If this matter was to be exposed to the press, I’m sure the entertainment industry will not welcome you anymore, Ms. Lopez.”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Madison’s face started to turn pale, “Who the hell are you? Isn’t there anyone else in the ST Hotel?”
“It’s not important who I am. What’s important is Ms. Lopez you kept saying that Lillian stole your necklace. What made you so certain that it was Lillian who stole it?”
“The security camera showed that she entered my room at ten o’clock last night.”
“So you should be in your room when Lillian entered your room.”
Everyone exchanged looks when they heard this. When the film crew checked into the hotel, everyone knew that this crew had the habit of meeting around ten o’clock at night to discuss the script. During this time, the actors’ room should be empty. That was why it was strange that Lillian would run out looking terrified after she entered Madison’s room.
“What do you mean that I was in the room? I only went back to my room at eleven o’clock.” Madison’s expression changed and accused, “You should find a better means of covering this up.”
“Better means?” Benjamin scoffed as his handsome face was full of contempt, “This is what I wanted to say to you, Ms. Lopez. You should find a better means if you want to have a secret liaison with a man.
Don’t think that you can take advantage of the linked balconies to sneak around. Then after you were discovered, you started to accuse the person in order to hide your guilt.”
There was a rumbling when these were said.
Madison and a man?
Hayden came to her senses as if she realized something. There was a disagreement between Viola and Madison and she heard the exchange as she walked past the room. Viola was saying that Madison was unprofessional. As soon as they started to have the meeting on the script, she would suddenly disappear.
When Benjamin said this, she finally thought through this. She must have snuck out during the meeting as all the balconies were linked. As to where she snuck to and for what, it was also clear now.
Madison was pale now and said anxiously, “What nonsense are you saying? You must be responsible for your words. Be careful that I sue you for slander.”
“There’s no hurry to sue me. I’m bored and have nothing to do. I asked the film crew and your movement was rather strange. During the period that your necklace went missing, you were not with the other actors in the director’s room discussing the script. What was even stranger was the producer was also not there.”
When the word ‘Producer’ was said, the commotion became even louder. They all looked astonished at Madison and were full of disdain and disgust.
The producer was a well-known actor who had retired and worked behind the scenes. He was already married and thus was having an affair with Madison.
“You… shut your mouth.” Madison’s face turned blue and pale.
“What was even stranger,” Benjamin grinned, “was that the hotel’s information showed that around 9 o’clock, the water of your bathtub had been running continuously.”
More and more information was revealed which was far more substantial than Madison’s verbal accusations that Lillian stole her necklace. Someone already started to secretly film the scene.
Hayden looked at every hotel staff and frowned, “Keep all your cell phones and stop all recording.” Everyone kept their cell phones obediently.
Hayden looked at the deflated Madison and asked, “Ms. Lopez, can we speak privately?”
Madison clenched her teeth and agreed grudgingly.
“Ms. Downey, I won’t go along since the things are now sorted out.” Benjamin went back to his innocent and harmless manner. His youthful looks were totally different from his detective-like mannerisms a moment ago.
Hayden was bewildered but didn’t question him since she had to settle Madison’s matter and nodded, “You need not go. Thanks for this.”
“No worries, I’m just helping out. Go ahead. I’ll explain to Lillian on what happened.”
“Okay,” Hayden answered and left.
After Hayden left, several hotel staff and Benjamin remained in the corridor. They were waitresses and Lillian’s colleague who ran happily to Benjamin’s side.
“You’re so smart. How did you discover all these?”
“Madison’s expression changed so drastically! I already noticed that there was something between her and the producer. You are so intelligent to have thought of this!”
“…”
The three to five young ladies looked at Benjamin with admiration. They practically regarded him as an expert investigator.
A tall and slim figure stood at a corner of the corridor for a long time and stared at Benjamin with cold apprehension.
The situation became easier to deal with since the truth had been exposed. Hayden and Madison spoke openly since the entire incident was personally caused by Madison. After Lillian saw her in the room with the producer, Madison was afraid that she would leak out the incident. That was why she wanted to blame Lillian for a theft, firstly to drive her out of the hotel and secondly, to blame her if one day this incident was exposed.
Hayden was disgusted when she found out the truth of the matter. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
“Ms. Lopez, do you know that your accusations nearly cost someone her life?”
Madison’s was expressionless as she said without remorse, “I didn’t expect her to attempt suicide. Now that the matter has come to this point, I… will just name a price. How much will it take to shut your hotel staff?”
Hayden was stunned as she replied, “Do you think that money can resolve everything?”
“What else then?” Madison started to get fired up again, “I already said that I’ll compensate with money so what else do you want? Regardless, if today’s incident spreads online I’ll make your hotel responsible for it and sue you for all my losses.”
When Hayden saw her attitude showing no regrets, she clenched her fists, took a deep breath, and said coldly to Madison, “I’m afraid that once this goes onto the internet, you’ll be so busy with the
reporters and even have to deal with the producer’s wife that you won’t have time to sue our hotel.”
Madison’s face turned pale instantly.
