Chapter 128: I Thought You Said You Didn’t Need Me
Chapter 128: I Thought You Said You Didn’t Need Me
“What do you want?” Hayden put down the chopsticks and asked in confusion.
“What do you think?” Joseph Beckham questioned back with a smile on his face.
Hayden blushed instantly as she lowered her head, muttering, “Can’t you wait until I finish my dinner. Why do you always have your mind in the gutter…”
Before she could finish talking, she raised her head and saw Joseph standing up and leaving the table. He looked tall under the lights.
“What are you doing?” Hayden was confused as she watched Joseph heading to the sofa.
Joseph picked up a sizeable purple gift box on the sofa, and he untied the bowknot on it on the edge of the table. When it was opened, inside it was a black-green cheongsam with dark red flowers pattern embroidered on the lapel. It was graceful and elegant.
“This is your attire for tomorrow on bringing Hans and the others to visit H Garden.”
Joseph’s tone was light, but she could still hear the teasing in his words when listening carefully.
Hayden was very embarrassed for making a gaffe. Ironically, Joseph aired her dirty laundry, “What did you say about me just now?” Joseph furrowed his brows, looking at Hayden in confusion.
Hayden took the clothes and ran into the bedroom behind the screen abruptly to avoid his gaze, “Nothing. I’m gonna try on this first.”
Joseph showed an ambiguous smile. Hearing the scuffing sound coming from the bedroom behind the screen, he walked into the room decisively.
Hayden was having her back towards Joseph when she tried to button up the cheongsam she just put on. She didn’t think much as he came in.
She lowered her head while asking in a muffled voice, “Why is this collar button so hard to button up.”
As she was frustrating, someone from behind gathered up her hair. And she was about to turn around. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
“Hold still.”
Hayden froze immediately, feeling his gentle movement. And she seemed to have a fluttering heart.
“Thanks.” She pursed her lips, pretending to be calm. She was scrambled and couldn’t button it as she got nervous.
“Let me help you.”
Joseph’s husky voice coming from behind was melodious.
Hayden lowered her head and could see his slender fingers at the two sides pinching on the button. He fitted the button into the buttonhole easily.
“Does it look good?” Hayden looked up at herself in the mirror. She was tall and slim and looked even gorgeous in this cheongsam.
Her skin was fair, and her cherry lips were red.
She felt blue for not getting any response from him. She looked at the man in the mirror.
In the mirror, Joseph was tilting his head slightly behind her and then walked in front of her. His right hand lifted her chin and gently turned her to him. Their faces were very close together, and he responded, “It’s splendid.”
Hayden could feel his warm breath at the side of her ear. She was rooted to the spot, feeling bewildered.
In the meantime, Joseph lifted her head higher and gave her a kiss out of the blue.
Hayden came back to her senses and tried to pushed him away.
But unexpectedly, as she just touched his chest, her hand was clutched tightly by Joseph with his other hand.
And immediately, he held her in his arms tightly.
Hayden felt that she was out of the air. She was blushing red, and her body was trembling from being nervous.
Joseph let go of Hayden and sneered when feeling her trembling in his arms.
“Blushing already?” He teased.
Instantly, Hayden felt very embarrassed.
“It seems that we need to practice more in the future.” He spoke with a smile.
“Get over yourself.” As Hayden said, she lowered her head, walked around Joseph, and headed out.
In the next moment, she was caught, followed by being lifted up.
“What are you doing?” Hayden was shocked as she struggled to get down.
“What’s the matter? Do you want to do it here?”
“You’re a rascal!” Hayden was speechless. He was indeed shameless.
In the room, Joseph carried Hayden into the bathroom. She was embarrassed, crossing her arms and feeling alert.
She was about to ask Joseph to get out, but Joseph spoke out first, “You take a shower first. I’ve something to deal with.”
As she watched him leave, Hayden knocked her head ruthlessly.
Hayden, what were you having in your mind?
When she came out of the shower, Joseph was just closing the laptop and then went into the bathroom.
Hayden let out a breath as she lifted the quilt and lay down on the bed.
Dazedly she felt someone lay on the bed beside her. And next, a strong arm fetched her into his arms.
“You’re here.” Hayden leaned on Joseph dazedly.
Her sound was soft as she had just fallen asleep, and it tickled his heart.
“Stay still.” Joseph furrowed his brows and stayed slightly away from Hayden.
But then Hayden seemed to be dissatisfied with the person besides moving away. She frowned with dissatisfaction, pouting her mouth, and leaned over again.
“Damn it.” Joseph reviled as he was about to make a move when Hayden rolled over and breathed soundly gradually.
He had no choice but to get out of bed and went into the bathroom again. It took a very long time for him to suppress the strange feeling in his heart.
…
Dark fell. Joseph held Hayden in his arms, looking at her sleep. He felt warm for the first time after being alone for a long time.
He once felt that people were born to be lonely and would always be on their own. Love was such an illusory, and he didn’t need it.
But he would be fortunate when he encountered it for real.
This woman had such magic that attracted him, making his world being less dull.
And it seemed that everything went fine with her around.
At that moment, Hayden in his arms frowned, and she seemed to have an anxiety dream.
“Noah…”
Joseph heard her murmuring and came back to his senses. He held her tighter and listened again, “Come to mommy…”
He looked dull with his eyes darkened, looking into his arms.
