Revenge Against My Ex-husband

Chapter 154 You're A Grandmother

Chapter 154 You're A Grandmother

Right when Margaret called Edric, Edric was ringing her up as well.

He was clearly aware of why Irene did not want him to meet Eden and why she was reluctant to

remarry him. On one hand, it was because she misunderstood him and believed that there was still

something going on between him and Lily. On other hand, it was because of Margaret's attitude

towards her.

For the former, he could prove to Irene with his actions that he would never have any connection with

Lily anymore. As for Margaret, he supposed that her attitude towards Irene could be changed.

The main reason why Margaret treated Irene badly in the past was that Irene could not bear children.

Now that Irene had given birth to Eden for the Myers family—or in other words, she had brought them a

successor—Margaret would probably stop giving Irene a hard time.

With this thought in mind, Edric took out his phone and called Margaret. Unexpectedly, Margaret was

also calling him at that moment; hence, he was unable to reach Margaret. Edric then called her again

using the landline telephone, which was answered by Loraine.

"Is this Mr. Myers speaking? You've finally called. Mrs. Myers was getting anxious for not being able to

get in touch with you! Give me a moment please, I'll ask her to come to speak on the phone."

"Okay," came a curt reply from him. Edric knew that Margaret would be anxious since he didn't inform

her before leaving for Mencodia. Besides, he had been ignoring many calls from Margaret as he was in

a bad mood for the past few days.

After a short while, Margaret's voice brimming with anxiety rang from the phone. "Edric, why have you

been ignoring my phone calls? John told me that you went to Mencodia, but you didn't tell me about it.

So why did you even go there? You—"

"Mom, I have something to tell you." Edric didn't want to listen to Margaret's rambling anymore. He

interrupted her and said straightforwardly, "Eden is my biological son, and that makes you a

grandmother now."

There was a few seconds of silence on the other side of the phone. Soon after, Margaret raised her

voice. "What did you say? You are trying to lie to me just so you could remarry Irene, aren't you?"

Edric felt both exasperated and amused. It was not surprising that Margaret would doubt him. After all,

she had always been unsupportive of the idea of him reconciling with Irene, and it was only natural for

Margaret to think that he was making up a story.

"Mom, I am not lying; this is absolutely true. If you don't believe me, I can swear on my life for this. If I'd

lied to you, when I go back, the plane I'm on will—"

"Alright, alright, I believe you!" Margaret hurriedly interjected. "What's going on? Didn't Irene say that

the child belonged to some other man? How could that boy be your child?"

"She lied to me on purpose. She didn't want me to know that Eden was my son," Edric replied.

"Then why did she tell you now?" Margaret questioned.

Edric said, "Mom, it's difficult to explain it on the phone. I'll talk to you about it next time. There's only

one thing that I want to ask you for now. Since Eden is mine and Irene's, do you still oppose me from

remarrying Irene?"

"Well..." Margaret was in a dilemma. Every time she recalled Irene's bad attitude towards her, she felt

rather reluctant to live under the same roof as Irene.

Moreover, Lily was already with Edric now. If things worked out, she would have another grandson, and

Edric would have no choice but to marry Lily. Between Lily and Irene, Margaret would rather choose

Lily to become her daughter-in-law.

She mentioned, "Didn't Irene leave for Mencodia and refuse to remarry you?"

"As long as you promise to treat her well in the future, she will surely come back with me," came a reply

from Edric.

"Let's talk about this another time. Bring Eden back first, will you? He is a descendant of the Myers

family, and it's only logical for him to join his own family as soon as possible," Margaret still had doubts

in her heart. She knew Edric's character well; he could do anything for Irene. If everything was a lie

from him solely for the sake of remarrying Irene, she'd better not get too excited and exhilarated about

it first. Only if Eden was back in Haverland and that they have gotten a paternity test could she be

completely assured about it.

However, Edric was adamant to make things go his way. "I will definitely bring Eden back, but you must

promise me that you will never make it for Irene again. Otherwise, Irene will never allow me to meet

Eden, nor will she be willing to remarry me."

"What? She won't let Eden meet you?" Margaret was infuriated upon hearing this. "Eden is a part of us.

Who does she think she is to not let Eden meet you? I'll come to Mencodia this instant and get Eden

back for you!"

"Mom, wouldn't you be making things worse if you do so? I can handle this matter myself, so please

don't come over. Otherwise, if you anger Irene, she'll bring Eden to another place, and I won't be able

to find them again. And when that happens, you would not be able to see your grandson ever again."

"Fine, I will stay put here, happy now? However, it's a must for you to bring Eden back to me. The

grandson of the Myers family would never be allowed to have a different surname. Do you hear me?"

"Fine, let's not talk about this anymore. That's all for now." After finishing his words, Edric ended the

call adamantly. If he had known better, he wouldn't have called Margaret. Margaret was simply

unreasonable. Even at this point in time, she was still trying to force Irene and Eden into everything. It

seemed like he had to rely on himself to persuade Irene!

After ending the call, Margaret felt a lump in her throat. It was such shocking news! All of a sudden, she

had a grandson. Moreover, he was given birth by Irene, whom Margaret always thought was infertile.

What should she do with this information? She was at a loss.

On second thought, she felt delighted. She had a grandson now! The Myers family had a successor

now...

However, it was yet to be confirmed whether or not this child was truly a Myer.

No! Margaret felt that it was better for her to go and witness everything with her own eyes, as she

couldn't just choose to listen to Irene's words alone. Now that Edric was crazily in love with her, he

might be cheated by her. Indeed, it was better to go and see for herself. If the child Irene brought with

her was really her grandson, Margaret wouldn't hesitate to bring him back and raise him on her own.

But if everything was untrue, she could then prevent Edric from being taken advantage of.

In Mencodia.

Nathan was setting off to the company. On the way there, he was reminded of Rowane who was now

recuperating in the hospital; thus, he turned to the hospital instead. They had already lodged a police

report for what happened that night. The police investigated the scene but had not found anything

suspicious. The security cameras nearby were broken and no evidence could be gathered at all. The

police then left after going to the hospital to understand the entire situation.

When Nathan arrived at the hospital, Rowane who was in the intensive care unit, had not woken up

yet. Nathan stood outside the glass door and looked at Rowane who had an oxygen mask on.

Who on earth would think of harming this young woman? Was it for vengeance? Or was it a plotted

murder?

If her relatives knew about her current state, it was impossible to imagine how worried they would be.

Taking in the similarities of her face to Irene's, Nathan felt a heavy feeling deep in him. He then asked

the driver to hire two nurses to take care of Rowane and left the hospital.

"Hello. Where are you, my son?" Margaret couldn't wait to meet Edric as soon as she got off the plane.

"Mom, are you also in Mencodia right now?" Edric was surprised.

"Of course, how could I not come when such a serious matter happened? Quick, tell me where you

are!"

Edric smiled bitterly. Margaret was impatient as always. However, little did she know that everything

was not as simple as she thought it was. "Mom, how about you settle down in the hotel first? I'll meet

you right away."

When Edric arrived at the hotel, Margaret's patience was already running thin. "Why did you come

alone? Where is my grandson? Why didn't you bring him here?"

"Mom, it's more complicated than you could even understand. Eden does not know that he has us as

his family. Irene didn't tell him, and now, she is going to marry Nathan," Edric told Margaret everything

with details.

Margaret was outraged when she heard this. "This woman is trying to give my grandson to someone

else! How could she do that? No, I will never allow my grandson to see someone else as his family!"

"Mom, can't you let me solve this matter by myself?" His relationship with Irene was already greatly

affected because of Margaret. He didn't want Margaret to do anything extreme that could only make

things worse.

"You wouldn't be able to solve this alone. I have to be the one who deals with it." Margaret certainly

didn't want to listen to him. "I have to meet my grandson first!"

"Eden is sick. Besides, you shouldn't be so rash with your decisions. Eden doesn't know that I am his

father and that you're his grandmother. Stop trying to trigger him by addressing him as your grandson."

Edric frowned disapprovingly.

Margaret felt displeased with the thought of Edric defending Irene. It seemed that she had to take

matters into her own hands; she certainly couldn't count on Edric. First of all, she had to make sure

whether Eden was actually Edric's biological son, and that was the main thing that must be confirmed

as of that moment. She came up with an idea.

During the early hours of the following morning, Margaret arrived at White Mansion as an uninvited

guest alone without Edric's knowledge.

"What made Mrs. Myers come all the way here, I wonder?" Britney asked the servant to serve Margaret

tea. She had a smile on her face, but there was no sparkle of warmth in her eyes.

Needless to say, she knew who Margaret was—a bad-tempered and snobbish woman who was not

easy to get along with. Now that Margaret visited them in person, it was as clear as daylight that she

already knew what happened.

"I'm here to visit my grandson. Why don't you let my grandson come meet me, Madam Britney?"

Margaret said in an honest and frank manner.

"I'm afraid you've made a mistake, Mrs. Myers." Britney faked a chuckle.

"It's no mistake. Irene's child is my grandson. Didn't you know?" Margaret sneered. "It's impossible that

such a secret could be hidden from someone as percipient as you, isn't it?"

Britney tittered and said, "I'm too old for that now, and I have long ignored those youngsters' affairs."

"You'd really just leave them alone? Are you telling me that you're just going to stand there and watch

as Nathan, the future heir of the White family hangs out with a divorced woman?" Margaret barked with

a look of disdain. "Irene is just someone that Edric doesn't want. Wouldn't your family feel irksome with

her entering your household?"

"My opinion is different from yours, Mrs. Myers. I find Irene rather perfect!" Britney chortled as she

continued, "Of course, it's not an absurd matter that you dislike her. After all, what happened in the past

certainly isn't something to be proud of..."

Margaret was visibly startled by her words, and she instantly felt mortified. Edric's divorce and the fact

that Lily, a mistress became his lawful wife was no longer a secret for Britney.

"Madam Britney, sometimes I do wonder. Why does someone young and handsome like Nathan wish

to be tied with a woman that has a child? Perhaps, was there some undisclosed problem with him, that

he has to look for Irene who already has a readily born son?" In order to make her look less awkward,

Margaret began humiliating Britney.

Britney was a lady with manners. She chose not to snap back, although her expression did become

colder. Nevertheless, Joanne, who was beside Britney, was consumed by rage at once. "Mrs. Myers, I

know you are notorious in San Fetillo and it turns out you certainly are! However, you're here in the

White family in Mencodia now, not in San Fetillo. My grandmother and I are not some pushovers like

Irene either. If you wish to pitch a tantrum, you should've done it at the right place. Am I right, Mrs.

Myers?"This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

Molten lava flowed through Margaret's veins while she was being lectured by Joanne. With a cold

smirk, Margaret said, "Who are you to butt in when the elders are speaking? It's really eye-opening

how the White family educates their people! Where's your manner? How could a younger person

interrupt the elders?!"

"I wonder where your manner is too, Mrs. Myers!" Irene and Nathan appeared with Eden in their arms.

As soon as they entered the door, they heard their conversation. A wave of inexplicable

anger immediately rose inside them. Margaret was really arrogant. She used to treat Irene as such

before; but now, she had the audacity to barge into the White family to make a scene. Who did

Margaret think she was?!
