Chapter 381
Chapter 381
“Why?”
“Because you tend to complicate things more than help. Just visit Chad at the hospital after work and
focus on your job at the office. I’m busy too,” Mia replied.
“Mia, you’re such an idler. What could you possibly be busy with?”
“My husband just got back yesterday and I haven’t even sorted out his laundry. I need to sort it out,
wash what needs to be washed and hang what needs to be hanged.” Mia sat on the couch, leaning
back, and began opening her husband’s suitcase.
“Even you have become a good housewife. I really need to reflect on my life,” Molly said.
“Go ahead. I hope you find your answers soon.”
The sisters ended their call. Each of them started dealing with their own business.
After Andre returned home, he found himself once again helping his wife with the rumors. That piece of
news had already spread far and wide. He couldn’t allow it to escalate further and be used by external
forces. When the time was right, Andre ordered his people to suppress the news.
Brian was still being investigated at the police station, so the Marshal family’s stock prices plummeted
again, causing Brian to age overnight.
Jillian noticed that something was amiss in her family. Ever since the Cedillo family stopped funding
their business, her life had changed drastically. In addition to her reduced spending, her relatives who
used to bow and grovel before her were now brazenly bossing her around. She even wanted to marry
someone powerful to share the risks. She wanted someone who could protect her and save the
Marshal Group. But what Jillian couldn’t accept was that no prestigious families were willing to accept
her anymore.
The men who had once hinted at marriage were now ignoring her. Even non-wealthy families were
unwilling to accept her. She had to resort to seducing a young man from a business family. Before, she
would never look twice at such people, as none of them could compare to Andre. But now, she had to
make every effort to attract him.
However, not long after their relationship, the man broke up with her.
“Why, our relationship is going well, and I am your type. Why do you want to break up?” Jillian asked,
feeling confused.
“My parents found out about us and they are against it.”
Jillian was filled with a rage, but she had to suppress. She knelt down gently, with her hand on the
man’s leg. She was looking pitifully at him with tear-filled eyes. “Why do your parents dislike me? I can
change to be the type they like for you.”
“Jillian, did you offend the Cedillo family?”
That question made everything clear to Jillian.
They were avoiding her not because the Marshal family wasn’t as prestigious as before, but because
Hansen was pressuring her indirectly. After realizing this, Jillian knew she couldn’t marry into a wealthy
family anymore, as they all feared the Cedillo family.
Not long after, she broke up with that man. Afterwards, she stopped meticulously choosing her targets.
Last time, when Andre instructed the Calder Corporation to terminate their collaboration, her father was
caught off guard. Fortunately, she had people who could help the company overcome this difficulty.
This time, her father found out that Wyatt and Mr. Marlow had been suspended. When he was taken
away, his face showed a hint of fear and the desire to escape. Jillian had a strong feeling of unease.
She had a premonition that her father was going to face trouble.
The day Andre returned to the office, he began to suppress the stock prices of the Marshal family and
called the chairman of Calder Corporation at the right time.
The Cedillo Inc. and Calder Corporation had an inseparable relationship. The words of outsiders didn’t
matter to Mr. Calder. The forty-something man only respected and listened to Andre.
When the Marshal Group was at its peak, it and Calder Corporation were both large corporations.
However, since Calder Corporation was originally a spin-off from the Cedillo Group, it relied on the
Cedillo Group and held a slightly higher position in the business world.
Even though the Marshal family had faced financial difficulties at the end of last year and its status had
declined, it was still a large corporation operating normally. If Calder Corporation wanted to acquire the
Marshal family, it would require some effort.
Luckily, Calder Corporation had Andre’s backing. As long as he was there, everyone in Calder
Corporation, including the chairman, would follow his orders.
Calder Corporation didn’t have that much money, but Andre had!
Andre’s goal this time was to completely wipe out the Marshal Group. And he was currently the
businessman with the most gold reserves and cash flow internationally.
Andre even regularly bought gold and stored cash for his little wife Mia. When Mia was pregnant, he
even transferred part of his assets to his wife’s name. Mia was now an unwittingly rich woman.
Of course, Andre had no plans to tell Mia, who was at home nurturing her unborn child. Andre was
afraid his wife would become too haughty that she could show off everywhere. He planned to tell her
when she became more mature.
When Andre got home from work, he found his suitcase back where it belonged and the presents he
had bought for his wife on the table. But where was his wife?
“Mia?”
“I’m here,” came the reply from the walk-in closet.
Andre walked over to find his petite wife changing clothes. She was dressed only in her underwear.
She put on a dress she found somewhere and then stood in front of the mirror to check out her figure
and belly. She looked at herself from the front, and then the side, with one hand resting on her belly.
Without looking at him, she asked, “Honey, don’t you think I still look beautiful even though I’m
pregnant?”
Andre said, “Mm.”
Mia nodded solemnly, “I think so too. That’s why I’ve decided to invest in a few nice outfits to match my
good looks.”
Andre took off his coat and tossed it carelessly onto the nearby couch, “Sure.”
Mia started to tease him again, “Honey, you should hang up your clothes when you take them off.”
After saying that, she picked up his coat and hung it up for him, patting his suit collar lightly. “It won’t
look as good if it gets wrinkled.”
Andre was thoroughly enjoying his current lifestyle. Out in the world, he looked serious and cold. When
people saw him, they were afraid of him and didn’t dare to approach him. But at home, when he looked
at his little Mia, his face would light up with a smile that was as warm as a spring breeze and his eyes
were always full of affection for her. He would indulge her every dream. Even when she criticized him
or teased him, Andre would always smile. Listening to his wife’s nagging was a pleasure, which was a
unique kind of happiness that only Mia could bring him.
After hanging up the coat, Mia, dressed in her new outfit, looked at her husband, “You’ve made more Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
money again? You have such a good mood. You’re still smiling even after hearing my criticisms.”
“Do you still have any money left?”
For the first time, rich lady Mia pretended to be poor, “If I say no, will you give me some?”
Andre pointed to the coat he had just taken off, “Your birthday is the password to my bank account.”
Mia joyfully leaped into her husband’s arms, looking at him with a beaming smile, “Honey, you’re really
handsome.”
Leaning against his tie cabinet, Andre held his little wife and asked her gently, “What makes me
handsome?”
“The way you hand over money is the most handsome.”
