Take Me Away

Chapter 107 Spencer Is Family

Chapter 107 Spencer Is Family

After breakfast, Spencer drove Fiona to D University. He made sure that everything was in perfect

condition and that Fiona had sat down before locking all the doors and starting the car. He also leaned

over and fastened her seat belt for her.

He was driving the off-road car in rush hour.

As they were about to cross the intersection before D University, Fiona quickly signaled to him to stop

the car. "Just drop me over here. It's fine."

Completely disregarding her request, Spencer stepped on the gas and raced to the entrance of the

university.

"How about I drop you at the teaching building?" He grinned as he stopped the car near the entrance.

"You are nuts." She unfastened her seat belt and stepped out of the car.

"Hey!" Spencer leaned over and looked through the passenger seat window as he called out to her.

"Do well in your exams today and don't forget to call me."

"Okay, I will. You can go." Fiona waved to him. Then, suppressing her unwillingness to let him go, she

walked towards the teaching building, carrying her backpack.

Keeping one hand on the steering wheel, Spencer watched as Fiona disappeared into the crowd. He

grabbed his phone and dialed a number. "Follow her closely and report to me if anything happens."

"Yes, sir."

"Also keep an eye on Celine and update me from time to time." Spencer frowned.

"Understood, sir!"

He hung up the phone, started the car, and drove to the base.

Fiona entered the teaching building for her finals. The classroom was noisy. Sophia and Ella waved to

her as they'd already saved her a seat.

"Fiona!" Standing in the last row of the classroom, Sophia signaled for Fiona to come over. "Come over

here!"

"Okay!" Fiona smiled and walked towards them.

Ella stood up and welcomed Fiona to her seat with a grin. "Here comes our savior! Come sit down.

Would you like some water?"

Fiona giggled. "Ella, stop sweet-talking me! I'm not used to it!"

"Well, you'd better get used to it then!" Sophia sat next to her and batted her eyelashes. "Are you

hungry? Did you have your breakfast? Can I take a look at your test paper later?"

"I'm not hungry. I had breakfast. And yes, you can take a look at my test paper later." Fiona smiled at

her.

"Then we won't have any difficulties." Ella raised her eyebrows and laughed. "I can only pass the test

only by copying."

"Are you upset that we copy your answers?" Sophia asked with concern in her voice.

"No, of course not." Fiona shook her head. "Although learning it yourself will help you a lot more, I won't

force you to study since I know you hate mathematics. And if I can help you pass the test, I'll do

everything I can for my friends."

"Oh, Fiona, you have such a big heart." Sophia leaned over and gave her a hug.

Fiona raised her eyebrows. "Oh, I don't think I do, because..."

"Because what?" Sophia prompted with a frown. "Well..." Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Fiona paused dramatically. "I don't think you'll get good marks even if you copy from me!"

"Humph!" Ella crossed her arms and snorted. "Looks like you've changed a lot lately."

"Yes! Well, it looks like you've become more cheerful now. You're even joking around with us! I don't

know who inspired this change in you." Sophia shot Fiona a crooked smile and winked at her.

Fiona was shocked. "Have I really changed?"

"Of course, look at you. You are laughing way more than you used to and you seem more lively now.

It's amazing." Ella thought for a while before she spoke. "You are much closer to me now than when I

first met you."

"Yeah, that's exactly how I feel."

Fiona frowned as she thought to herself, 'I've become more cheerful? Has Spencer changed me?'

As she was contemplating this, the bell rang.

Professor Steve entered the exam hall, adjusted his glasses, and walked to the stage with a package in

his hand. "Everyone, put your books and materials away! Let's begin the exam."

The students groaned in unison.

As soon as Fiona got her copy of the test paper, she scanned through the pages and felt like it was

much easier than usual. After all, it was only an elective course and the professor was an amazing

teacher.

"Why is this seat left empty?" Professor Steve walked towards the seat in the first row. "Are there any

absentees?"

"No, Professor Steve. Have you forgotten? Ryan went abroad for higher studies a few months ago. It

used to be his seat," one of the students replied.

Fiona turned and looked at the seat, feeling a little empty inside.

"Okay, let me distribute the remaining test papers!"

For a long time, there was complete silence except for the rustling of papers and the gliding of pens

across the sheets.

Fiona's problem-solving speed was quite slow as she feared that Sophia and Ella wouldn't be able to

copy if she finished writing her answers too fast.

Two hours later, the bell rang. The exam had finally come to a halt.

Some students looked happy while some frowned, and some others were just relieved that it was over.

"The exam is over!" Sophia stretched her arms. "You are amazing, Fiona! I saw that you completed the

last question as well but I had no time to copy it."

"I didn't copy it, either." Ella pouted. "These math symbols are like symbols of some ancient language.

They're the most complex things to copy."

The three walked to the dormitory, giggling and talking.

Fiona spent the next few days preparing for her review. Since they were in an art college, they didn't

have as many written exams as paintings and artwork to be submitted.

She also texted and called Spencer as he'd instructed. He had become a part of her routine. During the

day, Spencer was usually occupied, but at night, he was free and called Fiona whenever he could.

Fiona had never come across a man who was so good at making a romantic phone call. It felt nice to

be able to talk to him.

He always called her name. When she asked him why, he proudly said that he just liked saying her

name over and over again.

Sophia laughed every day after she got George's photos and phone number. When Fiona asked her

why she still hadn't contacted him, she smiled and told her that she was too excited and needed to

calm down before she called him.

It was the weekend. Sophia and Fiona were preparing for their final internship in ZR Company. Getting

out of the car, they were happily laughing as they walked.

"Fiona, will you be working here on the internship during the holidays?" Sophia asked her curiously.

"If I have plans for the holidays, then no. Otherwise, I don't mind working during the holidays."

"That's cool," Sophia said enviously. "I won't be able to work once the exams are over. I'm going home

for the holidays. My dad doesn't want me to miss the holidays!"

"That's great. You can spend the holidays with your family." Fiona shrugged, feeling a little lonely.

"You have family too, Fiona!" Sophia smiled. "Spencer is your husband. Isn't he the closest family

member you've got?"

'Family? Spencer is family?' Fiona was tongue-tied. She had never thought of him as family before. It

indeed seemed like her relationship with him was of that sort after all.

"Why do you look so shocked?" Sophia laughed teasingly and poked her waist. "Didn't you call me just

a few days ago and said he'd admitted having feelings for you and that he loved you? I think you would

be feeling ecstatic. It means you won't have to go to I Country Royal Art School."

"What?" Fiona's cheeks turned red.

As they were about to enter the ZR Company building, they heard a car honk behind them.

They turned around and saw a high speed sports car screech to a halt right before them. Charles got

out of the car wearing an expensive suit.

"You are early!" Charles said as he smiled at them.

"Good morning, Charles!" Sophia greeted him.

"Good morning, Mr. Wen!" Fiona said hurriedly as well. Then, she saw the door of the passenger seat

open.

"Honey!" A woman's seductive voice came from the car. A gorgeous well-dressed woman with wavy

hair and long legs walked out of the car in her kitten heels. She came over to Charles and wrapped her

arms around his.

She was the spokeswoman of the company's winter jewelry show. She was a big star who was

stunning and charming.

"Who are they?" she asked Charles, rolling her eyes in disdain.

"They are our employees," Charles said curtly.

"Well, let's get going."

"Yes." Charles nodded. Fiona and Sophia exchanged looks. Just when they were about to relax,

Charles said, "Let's go together."

Sophia smiled and dragged Fiona along.

"I really don't know who's hooking up with whom," she whispered to Fiona. She pointed at Charles and

the spokeswoman in front of her. "Those two are up to no good."

Fiona couldn't help but smile when she heard Sophia's comment. At that moment, Charles turned

around and saw Fiona smiling. He suddenly felt like the woman in his arms was nothing compared to

Fiona's beauty.

The four of them stepped into the elevator, but none of them spoke. Fiona felt cramped and awkward

standing behind Charles.

"Fiona, I texted you. Why didn't you reply? Didn't you save my number?" Charles asked out of the blue.

As the elevator went higher, the atmosphere felt cold.

Sophia quietly tugged at Fiona's sleeve with a shocked expression

on her face.

The spokeswoman looked at Fiona, her eyes filled with contempt.

"I..." Fiona was nervous and didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry."

Charles didn't look at her, but she could feel his anger. "Sorry for what?"

"I..."

"Give me your phone!" Charles interrupted her.

He had caught her off guard. Fiona froze and didn't know what to do.

The elevator came to a halt at the design department's floor. Sophia dragged Fiona out without even

saying goodbye.

The elevator doors closed slowly. Charles looked at Fiona as she disappeared into the corridor, feeling

unhappy.

Sophia was about to ask Fiona about the conversation in the elevator, but before she could, Jason

grabbed her arm and pulled her away. So, Fiona walked into Celine's office and started to clean her

desk, but frowned when she found a design draft on her table.

It was the necklace with a maple leaf that she'd designed.
