Chapter 120
Chapter 120
Ivy's face became stiff for a brief moment after Eva's words fell. Ivy then broke into fits of laughter. "What difference does it make to me whether Wyatt is willing or not? It's not as if I'm going to comply." 'Where did Eva get her confidence? Why should I be concerned about my private life solely as a result of Wyatt's wishful thinking?! How confounded and absurd is that?!' Eva was enraged upon hearing that. "Within a few days, Don Reed will personally propose to your Morgan family a marriage alliance. This marriage partnership will only benefit both families. Where else will you come across another affluent family comparable to our Reed family?" Eva already felt as if they had made a significant concession by reintegrating Ivy into their family. Who gave Ivy the right to be a snob? Ivy was a divorced woman, and regardless of her family background, any other gentry would be suspicious. Why was Ivy still selective at the time? Given that Eva had already extended an olive branch to Ivy, Ivy should accept it. Ivy's smile began to fade and her eyes became cold. "I advise you not to make a fool of yourselves by coming to my door," she said, her voice clear and cold. " Even if I am forced to marry a random stranger on the street, I will not marry your family! Do not disrespect me!" Eva's cheeks flushed with rage. "Do you believe you are capable of making that choice?! Wyatt averted disaster! Without him, you would have died long ago!" “So what?” Ivy regarded her with indifference. "So, what if he does? You may come and see if I am capable of making that decision for myself if you dare." Ivy made her feelings known and was forthright about it. "Also, no one has the authority to tell me how to conduct my private matters. I will not abandon any of my thirteen suitors," she concluded sarcastically. Would the Reed family be so forgiving as to tolerate this for the sake of a marriage alliance?
Ivy was suddenly overwhelmed with gratitude toward Windy and Agatha for throwing this party. Ivy was powerless to intervene if they insisted on coming to her door to make a fool of themselves, having already said everything she could. “Hmph! I was hesitant to accept you, Ivy, but Wyatt has been enchanted by you! He dispatched Piper to who knows where and even stated that he had to be with you! To be sure, even if you kneel and beg me, do not even consider entering our front door in the future!" Eva's body shook with rage. Eva would never get along with Ivy, even if Wyatt married her. Ivy's lips were hooked. "That is fantastic! Please keep an eye on your son and inform him to stop bothering me." Ivy then turned around and returned to the other room. Eva took several deep breaths before she was able to control her emotions remotely. As she passed by Ivy's private room, Eva took a photograph without hesitation. Ivy sat with a group of young hunks and appeared to be very ambiguous. Eva was pleased with this and forwarded the image to Wyatt. This time, Wyatt should be able to see who Ivy was and whether she deserved his affection. Agatha regarded Eva's back with a slight frown. She squeezed Ivy's wrist and shifted her gaze to the outside. "That old hag appears to be secretly filming us right now." When a young actor next to Flint heard this, he immediately rose and shut the door. Agatha returned the gesture with a grateful smile. Ivy took a sip of wine and replied matter-of-factly, "I purposely left it open for her to film us." Agatha looked at Ivy baffled, and Ivy quickly explained what had just occurred. Windy was so enraged that he desired to teach Eva a lesson, but Ivy eventually convinced him. "They're so conceited!" Ivy arched her brows and shook her head. “Yup.” Her phone lit up just as the words left her mouth. It was an unfamiliar number, and Ivy picked it up subconsciously. “Who is this?”
“It’s me. "Where are you?" Wyatt's cold, deep voice was audible. His magnetic, raspy voice carried an undercurrent of suppressed rage. 'Wyatt Reed actually called to inquire as to my whereabouts?!' Ivy thought. This was the first time she had seen this number. Ivy was not in a rush to hang up and mockingly laughed. "Did Mrs. Reed not inform you of the location?" It couldn't be more self-evident. Eva most likely told Wyatt everything about Ivy and even added additional frills solely to slander Ivy. Ivy, on the other hand, was unconcerned. There was silence on the other end of the line. Just as Ivy was about to hang up, she heard Wyatt's restrained voice, as if he was trying desperately to contain his emotions and calm himself. "Don't stay out too late, and drink less." Ivy was taken aback for a moment when he said such words. All of the curse words she had prepared could no longer be uttered. Her chest felt heavy and stuffy as if it were being pressed against a boulder. Ivy knitted her brows gently and replied in an unkind tone. "Who gives a damn?!!" Following that, she hung up. 'This bitch's son. Wyatt Reed is a man who never follows the rules!' Agatha swirled her glass of wine and frowned slightly. "What kind of bullshit is Wyatt Reed up to? Is he truly interested in reuniting with you?" Windy pressed her lips together. "It's difficult to say. Our Ivy's net worth has shifted dramatically, so who is to say whether he is truly sincere or has a motive?" Agatha considered it. "With the Reed family's wealth, he has no reason to scheme for the assets of others, right? However, I believe that Wyatt..." Windy shook her head and grabbed Ivy's arm immediately. "You must maintain your stance! You cannot make the same mistake twice! It makes no difference what he desires. We are not going to want him!"
Ivy nodded appropriately and stated emphatically, "Of course!" 'I am not that dim-witted,' Ivy thought. Windy and Agatha coerced Ivy into drinking a lot. Ivy felt as if her head were heaving and continued to nod off. Fortunately, Agatha remained conscious and arranged for everyone to be transported home. Only Xian and Flint remained, and neither consumed a drop of alcohol. Agatha cradled an inebriated Windy and pointed to Ivy. "I've contacted Sebastian, and he will arrive shortly. Take her to the entrance, you two." Xian and Flint duly complied. As they carefully led Ivy outside, one of them supported her and the other held her purse. When they reached the door, they were greeted by an unfamiliar chill and a deep voice emanating from the right side of the lobby, near the club's entrance. “Let go.” Xian came to a halt in his stride when he noticed Wyatt approaching from the side. His face shifted. 'I'm curious as to how long he's been here.' Wyatt had arrived within a few strides of them. He looked at the drunken and dazed Ivy in Xian's arms and felt his chest churn with powerful emotions. Instantaneously, his face became hostile, and his eyes became pitch-black. Xian, who was still a new model in Agatha's company, had yet to establish a solid foothold in the industry, and thus was unable to fight Wyatt. Regardless of how adamant Xian was about not giving up the woman in his arms, he was forced to relinquish control. Xian was apprehensive. His face was similarly rigid and icy. "Ms. Morgan's brother, Mr. Reed, will be here shortly." As a result, he could not simply let Wyatt Reed take Ivy. “I told you to let go.” Wyatt's voice was icy as if he didn't want to speak another word. With overwhelming authority, his cold gaze swept over Xian's face. The gulf between these two men was self-evident with a single glance and no words. They were opposites.
Xian's face was slightly contorted. Flint, who was standing on the side, took a step forward. "Xian, help Ms. Morgan in reaching the sofa." He pointed to the sofa in the lounge adjacent to the lobby. Xian took a brief pause. He was about to cross when he felt a strong breeze. Suddenly, his arms felt empty, and a powerful force violently pushed him away. He came dangerously close to falling and stumbled back, his face pale and terrified.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
