Chapter 121
Chapter 121
Ivy landed steadily in Wyatt’s arms and did not appear to be phased by the commotion. Wyatt’s dark and deep eyes glowed with warning and contempt, sending a chill down Xian’s spine. Wyatt allowed neither Xian nor Flint to respond before turning to leave with Ivy in his arms. Xian’s face was pale and stiff. His body became tense, and he experienced a sense of defeat. Flint sighed as he observed this. Although he was young, he had spent some time in show business. As a result, he was unambiguous about certain points. Nobody stood a chance against Wyatt Reed. “Xian, inform Agatha of this.” Wyatt escorted Ivy to his car’s backseat. He detected the strong odor of alcohol on Ivy and frowned unconsciously. Despite this, he gently brushed the strands of hair from her brow and sat beside her quietly. He regarded the glowing yellow streetlights in the darkness, which felt as lonely as he did. Wyatt dared to hold Ivy’s hand only when she was unconscious in order to prevent her from shrugging him otobreathing was regular, and he could withstand disturbing her. Wyatt cast a glance at Xian, who stood at the club’s entrance. His eyes grew cold as he considered, ‘What qualifications does he need to compete against me? Shameless!’ Someone knocked on the car window in less than twenty minutes. Ivy was instantly roused while Wyatt raised his eyes. She scanned the area, baffled. She was puzzled as to why she was here. She froze for a split second when she saw Wyatt. Her brows then knitted together tightly. “What brings you here?” Wyatt spoke in a calm tone. “I was just passing through on my way to do some business.” Ivy had no recollection of being in the club; how did she get to Wyatt’s car? She appeared to have forgotten about this segment. Wyatt saw Ivy’s befuddled and dazed expression and immediately concocted a lie without batting an eye. “I had just gotten out of my car, but you clutched me and insisted on getting into mine. I was
powerless to stop you.” “Impossible!” Ivy reacted angrily when she heard that. Wyatt locked his gaze on her in silence. “There is a dashcam video. Would you like to see it?” Ivy remained silent for a half minute. Wyatt’s righteous appearance made her feel insecure. ‘Could it possibly be true? Was I so intoxicated that I couldn’t tell who the enemy was?’ Ivy suddenly lost her confidence. “There is no reason for the trouble. Perhaps I was simply drunk and desired to vomit in your car.” Wyatt’s lips twitched. His heart began to sink. He was enraged, but he was at a loss for words. “Even my drunk self despises you,” Ivy continued. “You should turn around the next time you see me.” Before Wyatt could respond, the person outside the car knocked on the window again impatiently. Ivy shifted her gaze to the side. She jumped out of the car and turned to get into Sebastian’s car without another word. At this point, Sebastian’s exceptionally handsome face was filled with coldness and contempt. “Do you have nothing better to do, Mr. Reed? My sister went out for a drink, and you continue to bother her?” Wyatt cast a glance at Ivy’s figure and drew his gaze slowly away. His voice was hushed and icy. “She’s mingling with a slew of men. Aren’t you concerned?” Sebastian laughed coldly. “Worried about what? My sister is free to socialize with as many people as she wishes! How is it possible for a successful woman like my sister to have fewer than a dozen silent men on her side?” Wyatt’s face immediately became glum. His eyes were brimming with rage, but he desperately needed to restrain himself. That was because Sebastian was Ivy’s brother. Wyatt could not possibly beat him up even if he desired! Sebastian seized the opportunity and burst out laughing. “You wanted to drink with my sister, Mr. Reed? Unfortunately, my sister’s taste in men has
significantly improved, and thus you are no longer qualified!” Following that, Sebastian slowly turned around and entered the car, paying no more attention to Wyatt Reed. Mr. Santos then immediately started the car engine and drove away. Ivy returned home and slept soundly. Outside light seeped through the curtains and onto the floor. Simba had switched the room’s sleep mode to active mode. Simba sat lazily on the balcony swing at the moment. Its four tiny paws trembled and shrank in response to its fearful yet joyful feelings. Ivy was awakened in the morning by Agatha’s phone call. She fumbled helplessly around for her phone. “Did you and Windy agree not to let me sleep in every day?” Agatha’s calm tone was tinged with concern. “Wyatt Reed abducted you last night. He did not harm you, right?” Ivy was startled to consciousness. “He what?” ‘Didn’t I enter his car on my own?’ “Indeed, Xian, the good-for-nothing, did not dare to refuse Wyatt Reed, but I immediately contacted Sebastian. Nothing happened in the interim, right?” Ivy’s brows arched. ‘That son of a bitch! Wyatt Reed dared to deceive me?!’ “No, my third brother arrived shortly after that.” “That is great.” Agatha hung up following a brief conversation. Ivy, on the other hand, was enraged and gritted her teeth. ‘Was I duped by him?!’ Ivy was awake, and the maids brought her some hangover tea. Ivy ate breakfast and then assisted Simba in reaching ABC Corporation. Ryan altered Simba’s program, but Shaira Winter must know how to reverse the alteration. Ivy could not bear the thought of Simba liking the people she despised. Ivy walked over, and the receptionist immediately approached her with a respectful smile. “I’m delighted to have you here, Ms. Morgan. Mr. Saver was unaware that you would be visiting today. Allow me to inform him immediately...” Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Ivy gestured with her hand. “Oh no, I’ve come in search of Shaira Winter. Is she present?” The receptionist took a brief pause. “She is, ma’am. Kindly take a seat in the lounge.” Ivy arched her brows and sighed in relief. ‘Great! Now I can put an end to this stupid problem that’s been bothering me!’ Ivy stroked Simba’s soft fur as she entered the lounge. “You must be assertive in the future. You cannot simply agree when someone requests a modification to your program. You must learn to reject him, all right?” Simba nestled aggrievedly in her arms. “However, Papa is the most handsome man on the planet! Mama. You have to admit the truth!” Ivy wished she could simply grab Simba by the neck and teach it a lesson. At this point, the lounge door unexpectedly opened. “Ivy, you’re here!” Shaira Winter was dressed in a white lab coat with a messy bun in her hair. Ivy raised her head in delight, but before she could greet Shaira, her smile instantly froze when she noticed the two newcomers. Liam Saver and Wyatt Reed entered sequentially. One smiled while the other remained expressionless. Ivy inhaled deeply. ‘It’s as if a bloodthirsty vampire is haunting me!’ Liam pushed his gold-framed spectacles up. “It’s been quite some time, Ms. Morgan. Congratulations on your safe return.” Ivy laughed. “I appreciate it.” Liam noticed that Ivy had no intention of greeting Wyatt, and to alleviate the awkwardness, he coughed and said, “Oh, it just so happened that Mr. Reed was in town for a meeting. We figured you’d be interested in hearing about the progress of the AI project, so we’ve come here to discuss it with you. After all, you’ve been in charge of this project for the entirety of its duration.” He believed that this was the best explanation and that his justification was flawless. Ivy stated emphatically. “Hadn’t I already handed over this project before my accident?”
Liam managed only a feeble “oh.” Wyatt abruptly opened his mouth just as everyone thought the atmosphere was beginning to become awkward. His tone was gentle and reassuring. “Are you feeling better now after drinking so much last night?”
