Chapter 138
Chapter 138
Wyatt cocked his brow. “I’ll look around here as well.” He acted as if he was going to open a cabinet. Ivy glared at him, ignored him, and kept flipping through the papers. Wyatt noticed a small, inconspicuous box on top of the cabinet out of the corner of his eye. Ivy walked on tiptoe and was almost there. The box fell just as she was about to hold it steady. It was too late to turn around. She closed her eyes tightly as she realized it was about to smash her forehead. Her heart skipped a beat. ‘Ugh! What bad fortune!’ However, the anticipated pain did not occur. Instead, a large, slightly cool hand with a faint cologne scent covered her head, and closed her eyes. The dull thud of the box falling and hitting the back of Wyatt’s hand was felt by Ivy, but he didn’t flinch. Her heart felt as if it had been hit by that box and fluttered slightly at that moment. Wyatt took his hand away. His voice was entrancing and soothing. “Fortunately, it didn’t hit you.” He handed her the box he was holding. “I don’t think they’ll hide it in such a prominent location. Would you like to take a look?” Ivy cast a glance at him before averting her gaze. She opened the box, and it was, indeed, empty. She wasn’t too disappointed and casually tossed the box to the side of the table before continuing to look around. She didn’t thank Wyatt and pretended as if the incident had never happened. However, when Wyatt continued to pursue her, she did not reprimand him. The second floor was a little gloomy, but the light streaming through the broken windows was enough to illuminate Ivy’s body. Her eyes were unmistakable. Her side profile had a smooth curvature, and her red lips were vibrant. The crowd was taken aback by her side profile alone. She was the kind of effortless beauty who had a non-negligible presence when she stood there, as opposed to others who needed to be dramatic to be noticed. She possessed an innate regality that could not be concealed. The more one looked at her, the more stunning she appeared.
Ivy, who was walking in front, was aware of the burning gaze from behind her. Every time she turned to look at him, he was looking down, looking for something. His solemn expression was unusual. The camera was also pointed at her on occasion, which was very annoying! Ivy looked around the second floor but couldn’t find anything. Vince dashed upstairs. “Uncle Wyatt, Ivy, let’s switch floors. We discovered nothing but five or six empty boxes.” Ivy nodded and was about to go downstairs when she caught sight of the wall across from them. Wyatt also narrowed his eyes as he looked over. It was, in fact, a map. Ivy’s eyes glowed. She dashed over and took a look at the staff member next to her. “Is this the one?” Her enthusiasm was palpable. Regrettably, the staff shook his head. Nope! Ivy’s eyes dimmed instantly. ‘I knew it wasn’t going to be that easy!’ She was about to descend when she heard Mirasol yell from the third floor. “I found it!” Everyone’s gaze was drawn upward subconsciously. Vince snorted in surprise until Brad exclaimed, “Director!” They then focused their attention on the commotion. The staff on the side directed everyone to the third floor. Mirasol appeared to have discovered the map. She was notorious for his poor interpersonal communication skills and was not expected to work so hard this time. Ivy went upstairs with them. Mirasol eagerly handed the treasure map to the director while Brad stood by the side, expressionless. This game is a complete waste of time! The director took it and solemnly declared that it was the real treasure map. Mirasol was overjoyed and jumped up and down. “Finally! This is my moment of glory! Isn’t it time to switch teams, Mr. Director?” Mirasol fixed aBelongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
piercing stare on Wyatt. Her emotions were scribbled all over her face. That was the case in the previous episode. The winner of the first game got to switch teams. “Uh…” The director frowned hesitantly. Wyatt, who was standing behind Ivy, spoke up abruptly and coldly. “This segment has been canceled for this episode.” Mirasol froze in place, embarrassed to the point of tears. Anyone could see what she was doing, but he didn’t give her a chance. Mirasol was immediately rewarded with the right to lead the next game by the director, who responded immediately. The online comments were never-ending. (I’m sure Mirasol was on a roll after her fall, but Mr. Reed just cut her off!) (Crippled Mirasol is so stupid it’s kind of funny.) (Everyone is chatting and having a good time. The only one who is serious about the treasure hunt is Goddess Ivy, but she hasn’t found anything. Poor little thing.) (Am I the only one who thinks Mr. Reed has a crush on Goddess Ivy? When he looks at her, his eyes are just too gentle!) Everyone proceeded to the next destination on the treasure map that Mirasol discovered. On the road. Vince snickered as he leaned in close to Wyatt. “How can you cheat like that, Uncle Wyatt? You simply altered the program without consulting anyone!” The director was unable to say no! Wyatt cast a sidelong glance at him. His voice was firm and cold. “I can also remove you from the show; want to give it a shot?” Vince choked and was rendered speechless in an instant. This was something his uncle could do! “You admire Ivy, but she despises you. You’re wasting your time!” Wyatt came to a halt in his steps and gave him a cold stare. “Huh, she doesn’t like you either,” he said, his tone icy and intimidating. “You should stop thinking about people you shouldn’t be thinking about, Vince Reed. This is the last time I’m going to warn you.”
Because Vince was his nephew, he was gentle with him. He would not be so gentle the next time. Vince was terrified and perplexed. For a brief moment, he was speechless and felt stuffy. He saw Ivy and Brad walking ahead, discussing the next game when he looked up. Ivy had no romantic feelings for him. Despite the fact that they had been through so much together and were such close friends, she had never considered him to be anything more than a friend. Vince would have remained patient if it had been any other woman, but Wyatt Reed was pursuing Ivy! Vince conceded defeat this time. Wyatt was overtaken by Vince. “Do you really like her that much, Uncle Wyatt?” Wyatt looked at him as if he were a moron. Vince inhaled deeply. “Well, it appears that you’re the only one around my Ivy who can compete with her. I’ll assist you because you’ve changed. After all, we have to keep the good stuff in the family, don’t we?” Wyatt didn’t bother listening to Vince’s ramblings. He noticed Brad and Ivy happily chatting and quickly caught up to them to interrupt their conversation. “Ivy…” Ivy shifted her gaze to the side. Her smile faded when she saw Wyatt. “Is there something wrong?” “Yeah, something’s wrong,” Wyatt said with a smile. Brad became aware of the situation and set out to find Vince, who had become disoriented. Ivy inhaled deeply. ‘What in the world does he want?’ It didn’t take them long to get to the next location. The final game consisted of an extreme sport. They were on a 100-meter-high cliff for bungee jumping, which was popular among thrill-seeking adventurers. Mirasol was delighted to see this. The director had the staff make a safety harness for each of them and tie it around their waists. Not far from the cliff was a hot air balloon. The director briefly explained the rules.
“Everyone will rush up to the hot air balloon and play a truth game. Mirasol will assign punishment based on the level of tacit understanding between each pair. One of the punishments is to bungee jump 80 meters away. If you don’t want to jump, you can accept one of Mirasol’s punishments, which she will determine.” This was the benefit of discovering the treasure map. Mirasol must have been delighted!
