The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 139

Chapter 139

Ivy was not afraid of heights, but seeing the bottom of such a steep cliff made her heart tremble. She could feel her legs trembling as she approached the hot air balloon. Aside from the two professional explorers, Vince and Brad, the majority of the others shared Ivy’s reaction. Wyatt was cool and steady, with little emotion. The cliff seemed to have no bottom, and the lush woods felt like an abyss. The sensation of being suspended in the air was wobbly and extremely unstable as if they were stepping on clouds. Fortunately, the security measures in place were highly effective. Ivy would not even take a step if she didn’t have to! She vowed to herself that she would avoid Vince in the future! The cameraman did not follow them and instead relied on the cameras and drones of the participants to film. Mirasol’s face was pale as she screamed and gripped the railing. No one knew if she was truly terrified or if she was faking it. Her screams instantly dispelled everyone’s fear. “Are you scared?” Wyatt’s magnetic and clear voice could be heard from the back of the room. Ivy came to a halt in her steps and denied it. “Of course not!” From behind, Wyatt snickered. She wanted to retort when Ivy heard it, but she wasn’t in the mood. Mirasol was on the verge of breaking down. “I’m terrified, Mr. Reed.” Wyatt only gave her a stern look and didn’t say anything. Vince couldn’t stop himself from speaking. “Quit howling like a banshee! If you keep yelling like that, our conversation will be rendered inaudible. Would you like to dub all of our voices?” Mirasol’s cries came to a halt. Except for Flint, everyone else was wealthy and important people they couldn’t afford to invite. Mirasol’s eyes welled up with tears as she complained, “I’m just too scared.” “If you really can’t take it any longer, just ask the director to pick you up,” Brad suggested, thinking it was very thoughtful of Mirasol.

“It’s okay...,” Mirasol sobbed. “I’ll just keep going.” Flint remained silent and only gazed into the distance. The director’s voice could be heard over the hot air balloon’s speakers. “Mirasol, you can begin right now!” Mirasol took a deep breath, stood up, and pulled out the placards she had prepared. She took a look at Wyatt and Ivy. “The first one is dedicated to Ivy. If you don’t want to respond, you can bungee jump.” This was clearly a prepared question. Ivy cocked her brow. “Sure.” “If you had to pick one of the four men here to be your boyfriend, whom would you pick?” Mirasol inquired. The air became deafeningly quiet. The cold wind scraped their faces. “All of this has been planned by the director. I didn’t think of the questions.” Mirasol saw Ivy’s glum expression and quickly defended herself. Ivy chuckled and returned to her usual demeanor. “Of course, I go with Flint.” She then raised an eyebrow at Flint, who was standing next to her. Flint was the best candidate for her boyfriend because he was young, innocent, and straightforward. Wyatt’s expression darkened in an instant. His expression grew cold and gloomy over time. Mirasol continued to ask, “What about your second choice?” with a smug expression on her face. “Brad.” Ivy gave Brad a gentle smile as she looked at him, perplexed. “It’s just a what-if situation,” she quickly explained. Brad chuckled ineffectually, not taking it seriously. Wyatt’s cold stare became even more intense. No one dared to look at him directly because his eyes were so sharp. Vince’s corners of his lips twitched incredulously. “You picked Cooper over me?” ‘Is my place in Ivy’s heart slipping that quickly?’ Vince pondered. Ivy gave him a friendly smile. “If she keeps asking, you’ll be next.” Vince gave Wyatt a thoughtful look. ‘I’m afraid Uncle Wyatt doesn’t stand a chance. He isn’t even

the third choice.’ Mirasol’s face stiffened because Ivy had already started the third response. She looked at Wyatt’s face, which had already darkened and become gloomy. The chill in his eyes was oppressive as he stared intently at Ivy, seemingly struggling to keep his emotions under control. Ivy cracked a grin. “Doesn’t that mean I don’t have to jump?” Mirasol quickly recovered her composure. “There’s no need. The following question is for Mr. Reed.” She looked at Wyatt with interest. “If you had to pick one of the two ladies here to be your girlfriend...” Mirasol’s eyes seemed to glow with a smug triumphant light. How could any normal man choose Ivy after experiencing such an insult from her? Ivy and Mirasol were the only women present! She wouldn’t have gone to this variety show if Mirasol and Wyatt’s names didn’t appear together. Wyatt looked gloomy as he said in a cold and restrained voice before Mirasol could finish her sentence. “Ivy is my choice.” Wyatt then stepped forward unexpectedly, grabbing Ivy in his arms before anyone could react. He then took a step back. The audience was taken aback. “Ah!!” As the wind whistled in her ears, Ivy couldn’t help but scream. Her body felt weightless as she plummeted headfirst down the cliff. The man’s arms were tightly wrapped around her waist. Suddenly, his warm and soft lips covered hers. She detected a faint minty flavor, which calmed her fears. Her cries were cut short as all of her anxiety and panic dispersed in the wind. As he invaded every corner of her mouth, the man’s cold dominance and aggression were unmistakable. Ivy tightened her grip on Wyatt’s clothes because she had forgotten she was also strapped to the safety harness. She clung to him as if he were the only life raft available. She clenched her fists and remained motionless until the man bit her lower lip in retaliation. The stinging sensation awakened Ivy. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

She opened her eyes and saw everything around her quickly fade away. She only had the rope around her waist and the man’s arm around her. Her entire body was tense. The man’s face was like a sculpture: perfect, deep, and exquisite. Her heart skipped a beat when she looked at Wyatt’s inky eyes. The cold wind pelted her face. When she was almost to the bottom of the cliff, the rope around her waist tightened suddenly. The moment she bounced up felt excruciatingly painful as if her body was about to split in half. On the other hand, the man with her did not appear to feel anything. Like the treacherous sea, the depths of his eyes were limitless. Although the surface was calm, a light breeze could cause massive waves in his eyes. Ivy’s face was pale, and she was biting her lower lip. Her panic was visible in her eye. She wasn’t afraid of heights, but she didn’t enjoy falling from an 80-meter cliff. Every second of the fall brought her closer to death, and every nerve in her body was tense! ‘What a jerk! How could he?!’ After only a few meters, the rope around her body was yanked away, and they began to fall again. Wyatt saw the fear in her eyes and gently drew her head to his chest, unable to bear seeing her in this state. He pressed his ear to hers. The wind was silent around him, and his voice was soothing. “You are and always will be my first choice.”
