Chapter 114
Chapter 114
The weekend was just around the corner.
Cordelia purchased some ingredients, preparing for Deanna's visit. She knew this was going to be a
challenge. When Deanna arrived, Cordelia was cooking in the kitchen with Janice.
Deanna first asked about Barney's health, and then she started chit-chatting with Ronan.
Ronan was sitting on the couch, looking spaced out.
Cordelia cooked a lot of dishes. She thought that even though Deanna wasn't likable, her father had
once saved Ronan's life, so she should try her best to be a good host.
"Dinner's ready,” Cordelia said, bringing out all the dishes.
Barney sat on one side, Cordelia, and Ronan on the other. She also thoughtfully asked Ronan if he
wanted a drink.
"Drink? Are you okay with that?" Ronan turned his head, looking at Cordelia with half-closed eyes.
Cordelia knew Ronan was just putting on a lovey-dovey front in front of Deanna. She didn't understand This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
what was going on between them, but Ronan always acted more affectionately in front of Deanna.
However, she couldn’t help but laugh. “When did I ever stop you from drinking? Want me to pour you a
glass?”
Ronan handed over his glass, and Cordelia poured him a glass of red wine.
Cordelia also poured a glass for Deanna. “Drink up. I made these dishes, and if they don't taste good, I
hope you won't mind."
"Della, you're too modest. When has Ronan ever complained about your cooking? Look, you were mad
at him the other day and only made him toast, didn't he still enjoy it?" Barney joked.
Cordelia knew he didn't like Deanna and was trying to help her.
"Barney, can you not spill the beans?" Cordelia pretended to be angry.
"Alright, alright, I'll shut up. As long as you two are happy, my illness will get better. Maybe I won't be
sick at all. For my longevity, you guys must be happy," Barney continued.
Actually, he usually didn't talk this much.
"Okay."
The conversation between Barney and Cordelia practically exhausted Deanna's fake smile. She
thought, “Cordelia, don't get too cocky.”
The meal ended with superficial smiles all around. After the meal, Janice cleaned up the table, and
Cordelia helped.
Barney went back to his room to take a nap.
As Cordelia was cleaning up the table, she walked by Deanna and wondered, “Why does Deanna also
smell like sandalwood? Does she use that soap too?”
Maybe the smell of the food had masked her scent during the meal. It wasn't until now that Cordelia
noticed.
She carried the dishes into the kitchen. Only Ronan and Deanna were in the living room.
Deanna's words drifted into Cordelia's ears as she was washing dishes in the kitchen.
"Ronan, a few days ago, you said you wanted to smell me after my shower, said that I used to smell
like this. Today I purposely used sandalwood soap to shower, did you smell it?" Deanna said.
"Really?" Ronan said. "It does seem to smell like something."
Deanna laughed.
Hearing this, Cordelia's heart fluttered. She quickly walked to the kitchen door, trying to close it, but
their conversation still drifted in...
"Oh, really?" Ronan responded to Deanna casually.
"Yes, but I haven't used it for many years. Back then, everyone used to use soap to bathe," Deanna
said.
Deanna said this just to tell Ronan that if every person who used Zenwood Soap was his dream girl,
then his dream lovers could be found all over the street.
Cordelia's hand rested on the sink, her mind a blank. No wonder Ronan had been so gentle in bed
lately, even more so than before. He often asked her, "Do you like it?" A question he had never asked
after the lights were out.
She thought it was because her recent performance had greatly satisfied Ronan, or perhaps...
She never thought that he was treating her as a stand-in. Deanna used to use this sandalwood soap.
What satisfied Ronan was not Cordelia, but the scent on her. So, he always waited until the lights were
out.
That night he specifically asked her about the sandalwood soap, but Cordelia didn't think much of it.
He was treating her as a stand-in!
This realization made Cordelia feel very disappointed.
