The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 133

Chapter 133

Ronan gave Trina a hefty sum to keep her lips sealed and promised to give Cordelia a ring later in the

evening.

Trina, clueless as ever, agreed.

Ronan pulled over to the side of the road and instructed his assistant to look into Castiel.

Six years ago, when he first started his own business, he had to pick himself up from where he fell. He

was hands-on with everything until one time he got lime in his eyes at a construction site. His cornea

got fried, and the doctors told him that corneas were in short supply and he had to wait.

Ronan was the type to bear pain alone. He didn't tell his grandparents about the incident. As for his

parents who were far away overseas, they were as good as non-existent to him.

Those were the darkest days of his life. Spending his days with bandages over his eyes and waiting in

vain for a cornea, he was bordering on despair.

One day, he went to the water dispenser with a cup to get hot water. He usually judged the water level

by listening to the sound, but that day, his mind was preoccupied with work, and he was a bit absent-

minded. The water overflowed the cup, spilling onto his hand and scalding him.

“The cup is full.” A woman's voice thick with emotion echoed, sounding like a child who just had a good

cry. It wasn't rare to hear such voices in places like hospital.

As she spoke, she turned off the water for Ronan, took the cup from him, and probably wiped it dry with

a paper towel. She handed the cup back to Ronan and left.

A refreshing scent of sandalwood soap lingered, soothing his senses.

Afterward, every day, without fail, Ronan would go to fetch water and would encounter the same girl.

She didn't say anything, and it was as if they had an unspoken understanding. She would hold Ronan's

hand from the outside, wait for the water to fill, turn off the tap, and then leave without saying a word.

This continued for a week.

Then one week later, the doctor informed him that they had a cornea donor. Someone in the hospital

just passed away and donated their cornea.

After the surgery, he spent another two months in the hospital. During that time, a girl stepped into his

life. She claimed that the cornea was her father's and she wanted to see to whom her father's cornea

had been given, hoping that person would live a good life.

Every day, she would accompany Ronan to fill his cup, holding his hand just like the girl from before. NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

However, something felt off to Ronan. It didn't seem like the same girl. There was no one else in the

hospital who knew about his daily routine though.

When his bandages were finally removed, he saw Deanna, who was smiling gently at him.

Deanna confessed that she was the one who helped him fill his cup before, and it was her father's wish

for her to evaluate Ronan's character. Her father wanted Ronan to take care of his family since he was

the recipient of his cornea.

Ronan, feeling responsible, bought a house for Deanna and her mother once his career was on track.

He started dating Deanna, but he felt there was a discrepancy between the person she was and the

person he had imagined. He felt something was off. His feelings for Deanna might have been stuck in

the “absence makes the heart grow fonder’ phase, as he was always longing for the quiet girl who had

helped him silently.

His assistant called, sending over Castiel's background. A project manager at a construction site, fell

from a high-rise, and broke his ribs. Normally, Castiel should have been hospitalized, but his assistant

couldn't find any hospital records. It was like Castiel just vanished off the face of the earth.

“Mr. Evans, someone must have tampered with Castiel's records. I'll keep looking.” his assistant said.

Ronan hung up the phone. If he wasn't mistaken, the one who tampered with the records was probably

Deanna.

What he wanted to know now was who the girl who helped him fill his cup back then was. Was she

someone else, or was it Cordelia?

There were so many people in the hospital after all.
