The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 87

Chapter 87

On their way home from work, Cordelia let Ronan in on the tough decision she was facing.

"I've already submitted my resume to the Audit Department; Wyatt kept it, and I'm taking the written test

this Friday." Cordelia was now feeling a bit smug. She felt her move was bold, but she got what she

wanted.

"Wait, you?" Ronan seemed taken aback.

"Yes, me." Cordelia replied. "Jordan's offer was also pretty tempting."

"Did you tell him I was the one who translated your resume?" Ronan asked calmly.

"No. I didn't want anyone to think I got it through connections." Cordelia explained.

"Well, at least you didn't use the name ‘Ronan.’"

Cordelia sensed a hidden meaning in Ronan's words. Her German resume had his other name, Ethan,

written on it. What did this have to do with the name Ronan? Did he somehow know that she had called

him by his name at lunch?

How did he find out? How did he know everything?

"Seems like getting rejected by the HR department didn't dent your confidence." Ronan said casually.

"Yes, I've always wanted to work in auditing. I won't stop until I reach my goal." Cordelia replied,

clenching her fist.

He casually pulled out a book from the car. It had a belly band and was still wrapped in plastic, looking

really high-end.

"I got you a book." He said.

Cordelia was puzzled but gasped when she saw "Written by Ronan" on the belly band.

"You wrote a book?" Cordelia asked, looking surprised.

"What? Did someone else write a book?" Ronan feigned ignorance.

Cordelia caught on and almost blurted out something she shouldn’t have. "No! No one."

She opened the book and saw that it was titled "Common Misconceptions and Strategies in

Performance Evaluation".

"Did you write this?" Cordelia asked, feeling like Ronan's words and actions were pointed today.

"No, the HR department wrote it, but it's under my name. You can only have this book in your bag, no

other books. Or, if you do, don't let me see it! Or else, you know what's coming." He spoke in his usual

emotionless yet straight-to-the-point tone.

A chill ran down Cordelia's spine. Did he know about Jamie's book? If he didn't, then his aim was too

good. She has to tread lightly around him, or she might get in big trouble.

"Fine, I won't put any other books in my bag!" Cordelia was only a bit annoyed. After all, she had

already finished reading Jamie's book.

She carefully put Ronan's book into her bag.

The next day, Wyatt came to Ronan's office to discuss some matters.

The new department hadn't been established yet, so naturally, there were many issues to sort out.

"Did Cordelia submit her resume to you?" Ronan asked Wyatt.

"Yes, that employee from our Finance Department. She left quite an impression. Quick to react, logical,

clear-headed, and very professional."

Ronan felt a strange sense of pride. He coughed lightly. "You might not know this, but she is my wife."

He hoped Wyatt would take care of Cordelia, given her recent good performance and the lack of

contact with Jamie. Also, Jordan from the Finance Department was just not competent enough to

nurture talents.

Wyatt was shocked. He just commented that Mr. Evans' wife was very low-key and competent for

delivering her resume in person.

"But Ronan, you are not doing so well. Cordelia told me you guys are not planning to have kids in the

next five years. It's your problem, isn't it?" Wyatt joked.

"Did she say that?" Ronan frowned at Wyatt.

"Yes, she seemed very determined." Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

"She can't make that decision on her own!" Ronan retorted.
