Chapter 341
Malvina was completely taken aback by the kiss!
Ever since they got together, Ulrich had been living a life oscillating between the operating room and the Shadow Dragon Society, just like before. They hardly spent any real quality time together. Malvina herself was swamped with her own pile of issues, not to mention the gang's internal squabbles.
This was, arguably, their closest moment yet!
Gazing at Ulrich, memories of their first encounter flooded back to Malvina.
That version of Ulrich seemed more genuine. Sinister, rebellious, with a touch of morbidity, his gaze was usually cold.
Except when he looked at her, it was always tender!
Suddenly, Malvina realized that beneath Ulrich's typically genteel and somewhat stiff exterior lurked something far more intimidating. Yet, she didn’t dislike this side of Ulrich—in fact, she found herself somewhat drawn to it!
Robert was taken aback by Ulrich's words. “You… you touched my kids?”
Ulrich found a chair for Malvina to sit on, then crouched beside her to massage the marks left by the ropes.
His touch was gentle, but his tone was ice-cold. “Well, you wanted my woman to marry your son, so I had to see for myself what kind of fool he was. And I happened to come across your other kid too. I’m a doctor, after all, more on the benevolent side, so I just helped them reunite. Couldn’t bear to see a family torn apart.”
Robert’s eyes widened, only now realizing he had crossed someone untouchable! This kid, wasn’t he just a pretty face who couldn’t throw a punch in an underground fight club?
Facing this young man, Robert felt his legs tremble uncontrollably.
Ulrich continued, “Your life is cheap, riddled with disease. Your son’s life, however, intrigues me. But you’re quite the breeder, aren’t you? Another bastard child? Don’t worry, they’ll be reunited too.”
Robert’s heart pounded like a drum!
Damn it! The silence outside was so profound, one could hear birds chirping over the lake in the park! It was clear his men had been taken out. Had he known Ulrich was a Schnabel family member, Robert would have never dared to touch him!
Malvina, surprised, asked, “You investigated him?”
Ulrich gently unclenched Malvina’s fists, which were tight with tension.
“You won’t tell me. So couldn’t I just look into it myself? Malvina, you really don’t listen, do you? Don’t you trust that I love you?”
Even after getting together, Malvina often avoided him.
Ulrich understood—it was all about trust. She didn’t believe his feelings were genuine.
“I haven’t. I’m just… too busy.”
“Lies. You had time to visit me at the hospital before becoming my girlfriend. Now, you’re suddenly too busy? Malvina, are you regretting saying yes to me?”
Facing Ulrich’s slightly reddened eyes, a chill ran down Malvina’s spine. She wanted to believe in love, but doubted such good fortune would befall her, especially not with someone as wonderful as
Ulrich. Why would someone like him love her?
Instinctively, she nodded, then shook her head.
“I don’t regret it. I’m just afraid you will. It’s not that I don’t have faith in you; I don’t trust myself. Robert was right about me.”
Ulrich’s grip tightened on Malvina’s chin. “Say that again? Remember, you are better than anyone else! Even if you doubt yourself, you can’t doubt me or Noella! She considers you a friend, which means you are the best. In my presence, you better drop that inferiority complex. You believe what everyone else says, so why can’t you believe me?”
Malvina shivered, but Ulrich forced her to meet his gaze. With no escape from his stare and tears brimming in her eyes, she could only nod in agreement.
“There, good. I’ll take care of some things, then we’ll head home for dinner.”
Ulrich caressed her chin, stretched his wrists, and approached the bound Robert.
“Your turn now.”
“I’ll do whatever you say. I won’t cross Malvina in the gang again!”
Ulrich smirked. “What kind of deal is that? Do you think I’d trust your word? It seems safer to keep you here permanently. Flowers nurtured with human remains bloom beautifully.”
Robert’s skin crawled!
“What do you want?”
“The Shadow Dragon Society’s port operations will go to Malvina, along with all the dealings in District 13.”
That was almost all of Robert’s most valuable assets!
It wasn’t that Ulrich didn’t want the rest; he just found them too dirty. What he wanted for Malvina had to be clean.
“You’re mad! Malvina can’t handle those operations!”
“Isn’t that what you’re for? Once Malvina can stand on her own, your sons will return to you. Oh, and before that, I’ll ensure you’re sterilized. People often only value what they have once they can no longer have more.”
Sterilization? Was this guy insane?
Robert was on the verge of collapse!
“What’s your endgame? She’s just a girl! What don’t you have that you’d go to these lengths for her?”
It was clear to him that Ulrich’s madness was triggered by Malvina!
With a light laugh, Ulrich said, “My lab is next door. Don’t worry, I have a steady hand. But if I get upset, sterilization might turn into castration. As for whether it’s worth it…”
Ulrich’s fist clenched, his smile vanishing in an instant as he delivered a punch to Robert’s gut!
His voice turned cold, his face shadowed. “I crown my princess; who has the right to voice their opinion?”
Robert spat out a mouthful of blood, feeling like his insides were doing somersaults!
Meanwhile, in a nearby cabin, a group huddled together, their eyes glued to the monitor displaying the adjacent cabin.
Phecda and Mizar were practically gasping for air!
"Boss, is your entire family made up of psychopaths or what?"
The spectacle before them was shockingly intense!
Annie, who had briefly collaborated with Ulrich, shrugged. "Dr. Schnabel used to work as a medic on the borders, right on the perilous front lines. He's usually cool as a cucumber, but once he's ticked off, watch out. The last time Dr. Schnabel lost his cool, it was even scarier."
Noella raised an eyebrow. "You mean when my brother got hurt?"
"Exactly! Dr. Schnabel mentioned that you, Ms. Noella, are one of the most important women in his life. Anyone who dares to mess with you is marked by him!" Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Phecda snapped his jaw back into place. "Dr. Schnabel and our boss really are cut from the same cloth. Truly a family thing!"
Palmer turned to Noella, his voice soft. "Would you do the same for the person you like?"
Noella looked back at him, unwavering. "Absolutely!"
