Chapter 342
Inside the lab.
Ulrich's assistant, Lily, poured two glasses of water with a smile.
"The boss is indeed in the middle of an experiment, please wait a moment."
For Jasper and Elara, this wasn't their first visit to the lab.
Elara waved her hand, "No worries, go on with your tasks. I'll just look around."
Being in the research field herself, Elara knew what she could touch and what she couldn't.
"This lab's equipment is top-notch!"
It's no wonder it's considered the leading medical research lab in the country.
Lily chuckled, "Still, it's nothing compared to the Polaris Star's lab. The boss couldn't stop praising it after his visit last time."
Elara was puzzled.
"Which batch of equipment does Polaris Star have?"
"The latest. The boss mentioned seeing some gear from the Pollack Group there. Seems like Polaris Star customized it further, making their experiments the most accurate in the country."
Elara raised an eyebrow. "The Pollack Group gear?"
The Pollack Group's range is vast, but to think Polaris Star would just go ahead and purchase such high-ticket items! That's the lab of her idol, indeed powerful!
Ulrich, in his white coat, emerged from the inner lab.
Knowing that visitors from the Schnabel family were looking for him, he had returned to the lab through a back door.
Robert was already lying on the operating table. NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
Ulrich instructed his assistant, "Since he's a tough guy, let's skip the anesthesia."
"Boss, are you really going to perform a vasectomy?"
Ulrich replied coldly, "Just scare him a bit."
It'd be a waste to use their surgical equipment on someone like Robert for a real vasectomy.
The assistant worried, "But if he finds out he's still fertile later on, wouldn't Ms. Gruber be in danger?"
Ulrich shook his head.
"I don't plan to keep him around that long. All the evidence of his crimes is ready. I'll use him to clean up the Shadow Dragon Society!"
For Robert, prison was the best place.
Ulrich's cold gaze softened as he approached Jasper and Elara with a warm smile.
"Jasper, Elara, sorry for the sudden experiment. Forgot to inform Mom and Dad!"
Elara waved it off, "No worries. Dad was just worried about you, that's why he sent us. Where's Malvina?"
"With Noella outside."
"As long as you're okay! I saw an experiment report here, the technique looks a lot like my idol's."
Ulrich raised an eyebrow, "You mean Polaris Star’s Loadstar? Why would I have her stuff here?"
Elara was also confused. She had studied all of Loadstar's reports and was familiar with her techniques.
But that report was signed by Professor Calvin. Could it be Professor Calvin changed his methods recently?
…
At the Falen Gemstones.
The grand and bright jewelry company was bustling, and as the general manager's office door opened, the secretary peeked several times but didn't catch a glimpse of Noella.
A middle-aged man with a coffee cup passed by, disdainfully saying, "Just a young girl, why all the fuss? Find some excuse to send her packing!"
The professionally dressed secretary retorted, "Cosmo! Ms. Noella is the company's owner now, show some respect!"
Cosmo, a senior manager, rolled his eyes. "A parachuter, thinking she can boss us around just because she studied jewelry design in college. Life really does hand out fortunes at birth. Some people are just born lucky."
His tone was sharp and bitter, grating on the ears.
The secretary ignored him, her eyes lighting up when she saw the girl walking in through the door!
Long, slender legs, white sneakers with a floral design, Noella wore a somewhat schoolgirl-like dress and casually carried a shoulder bag as she entered!
The secretary expected Noella to wear a high-end suit on her first day but was surprised to see her looking no different from a student just out of class.
Yet, those cold eyes swept over, and although the secretary was admiring Noella's flawless complexion, feeling envious of the Schnabel family's good genes, she couldn't help but shiver under that gaze!
Quickly stepping forward, she bowed slightly, "Ms. Noella, I'm your secretary, Marisol. Welcome to the company. Would you like me to schedule a meeting?"
Noella glanced around the office layout, her gaze sweeping over the curious onlookers. She composed herself, stating flatly, "No need, I'm just here to have a look. Are the rest of the employees here to do aerobics in front of the general manager's office?"
The employees, curious or hoping to catch a glimpse of drama, didn't matter to Noella.
Cosmo stepped forward to smooth things over. "Ms. Noella, everyone just wanted to welcome you. Plus, our company culture is relaxed; we don't require employees to stay at their desks all the time."
Noella glanced at him.
Marisol quickly introduced, "This is Cosmo, the head of our design department, responsible for the new season's jewelry designs."
Noella nodded, "Cosmo, noted. I was wondering, which company policy allows employees to take their breaks in front of the general manager's office? If the break room and lounge are just for show, we might as well get rid of them."
Cosmo touched his nose, looking somewhat embarrassed. He had intended to curry favor with the long-standing employees in front of Noella, rallying them to his side, but didn't expect Noella to directly challenge him!
Indeed, a new boss brings new rules!
Cosmo, with a glance at Noella, took his coffee and left.
Walking into the office, Noella settled into her chair at her desk. Her phone was buzzing with a barrage of messages.
She had gotten home late last night, and Tristan had woken up just to give Ulrich a piece of his mind.
The gist of it was Ulrich had been caught up with his experiments and hadn't bothered to inform anyone at home, leaving Malvina to fend for herself without dinner.
Without stirring Sienna, Tristan had laid into Ulrich and ordered him to bring Malvina home for dinner tonight.
Noella had received a nudge from Merrick to check in at the office! She understood that the old man was worried the school drama was weighing on her and wanted to give her something to do to take her mind off things.
Marisol handed Noella a financial report, which Noella casually set aside.
"I need the staff details. I'll look at the financials later."
"Sure thing."
Just as Noella began to review the personnel structure of Falen Gemstones, a raucous noise came from the corridor.
"What's going on?"
Marisol stepped out to take a look, reprimanding, "Cosmo, what's this impromptu meeting about?"
How could there be a meeting right when the boss arrives!
Cosmo shrugged off the criticism with a carefree smile.
"It's a routine meeting for the design department. We didn't invite Ms. Noella since she's just a freshman. I was worried it might go over her head."
Marisol caught the subtext right away! This was clearly a power move against the new leader!
