Chapter 386
Chapter 386
Aiden got it. He definitely wasn’t feeling great about it, but there was no other way around it. He couldn’t just pack up and leave home to search for his father for an explanation, right? After a while, Sophia tidied herself up and came knocking on the door. As soon as she opened it, she was surprised to see Aiden and Alex all ready to go.
“Did Alex change his mind?”
“Yeah, I had a little chat with him, and he came around. He said he wanted to thank the lady as well.”
Sophia nodded in satisfaction. “That’s more like it! That’s my good grandchild. After we’ve met the lady, Grandma will buy you some candy. How does that sound?”
Alex didn’t respond. He stood behind Aiden, not even sparing Sophia a glance.
Just as Sophia was about to probe further, Aiden cut her off. “We better get going before it gets dark. Alex is already feeling a bit under the weather; it will get colder at night. If his cold gets worse and he needs shots or medicine, no one will be able to convince him.”
Sophia had no choice but to agree. “Alright, let’s get there and back quickly.”
When they arrived at the hospital, a few security guards from the Melendez family were already waiting at the entrance, ensuring their safety.
Aiden and Alex followed their grandma into the hospital and went straight to the VIP ward.
As soon as they pushed the door open, they saw Leah lying in bed, getting an IV, with the machine beeping beside her.
“Look who I brought with me?” Sophia led the two boys inside Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
After hearing her voice, Leah tried her best to look her way. She was taken aback when her eyes met Alex’s, then pretended to be excited and tried to sit up.
“Why are they here?”
Sophia hurried over to support her. “You should stay lying down; don’t agitate your wound. It’s not conducive to your recovery.”
Leah nodded and then extended her hand. “Boys, you weren’t scared, were you?”
Aiden shook his head and politely smiled as he said, “Thanks for saving us the other day. We’re fine; we weren’t hurt.”
That’s good, that’s good.” Leah looked at Alex as her heart pounded.
This kid was always sharp and had a habit of speaking out of turn. She worried that her plan would go awry because of him.
Sophia, oblivious to their tension, sat the boys down and said, “See? All these injuries on this lady are because she tried to save you. When you grow up, you must repay her.”
Alex turned his face away, while Aiden gave his clothes a little tug and then smiled at Grandma. “I know, our teacher told us about gratitude. She saved our lives, so we must repay her.”
“Good boy!” Sophia affectionately ruffled his hair and then suddenly got up. “I’m going to buy some fruit. Leah, chat with the boys.”
Sophia deliberately wanted to create an opportunity for them to bond.
Leah caught her drift and gave her a grateful look. “Okay, thank you.”
“Aiden, Alex, chat with the lady.” After saying this, Sophia left the ward.
As soon as the door closed, the ward was quiet.
After a few minutes, Leah coughed softly, awkwardly breaking the silence. “You two are really adorable. Aiden, you’re so polite.”
