We Got Love, The Crazy Kind

Chapter 33 Who’s Your Crush?

Chapter 33 Who’s Your Crush?

Having no other place to go, Amber returned to Liam’s apartment albeit reluctantly.

She opened the door and saw Mia, who was wearing a black lacy dress with an apron tied to her waist.

A trace of disappointment flickered in Mia’s eyes when she saw Amber, but she concealed it quickly

enough before Amber could notice it.

Mia flashed Amber a bashful smile and said, “I’m preparing dinner for tonight, and I’ve brewed Liam’s

favorite chicken soup. Ms. Currie, would you like to have some?”

inferiority. She shook her head and answered Mia with a smile, “Thanks, but I think I’ll pass because I

just had my dinner outside. Well, I should let you get back to your cooking.”

Amber then returned to her room. She felt like calling Pearl, but she was worried that she might have

already gone to bed. After some hesitation, she decided to send Emma a message instead: “Emma,

how does it feel to fall in love with someone?”

She received a reply from Emma in a flash: “Who have you fallen in love with?! Have you slept with him

yet?!”

Being a drama queen as always, Emma sounded agitated.

Amber couldn’t help chuckling at her message; she could easily imagine how excited Emma must be

looking at that moment.

She replied: “I can’t say for sure that I’ve fallen in love with him, but it just feels good to be around him.”

“Who’s the guy?! Do I know him?!” Emma’s message came with several face-with-monocle emojis.

Amber took some time to consider her answer before replying to Emma: “Forget it. There’s no point in

telling you about him because nothing’s going to happen between us. Also, I’m pretty sure my feelings

for him aren’t reciprocated.”

Soon, she received an audio message from Emma. “I’m sorry Amber, I can’t talk right now. Make sure

your phone is switched on for the rest of the day because I’ll call you back later!”

Amber put down her phone. She shook her head in resignation at Emma’s unquenchable thirst for

gossips.

Then, she tiptoed her way out to the bathroom outside to wash up. From the corner of her eyes, she

could see Mia sitting at the dining table, staring at the spread of delectable food with anticipation in her

eyes. With the flowers in the vase in full bloom, the palatable food on the table, and the warm lighting

that brought out Mia’s dazzling, Amber could tell the night was bound to be a perfect one for Liam and

her.

Amber did not want to ruin the perfection with her presence. So, she finished her business in the

bathroom quickly and scuttled back to her room as fast as she could manage.

She did not like the idea of having to do everything in the apartment surreptitiously, and she could

hardly put up with the awkward situation. Now that Mia was back, she had no choice but to sneak

around because she was just Liam’s bogus fiancée.

She tossed and turned on her bed, unable to fall asleep. After some time, she heard someone opening

the main door outside.

It was followed by Mia’s upbeat voice. “Liam, you’re finally back!”

“Oh dear, you’re so wasted… Why did you get so drunk with your clients? It’s been years since you last

got this ripped. Let me brew some tea for you to make you feel better.”

“I don’t need it. I’m feeling alright.” Amber felt a dull pain in her heart when she heard Liam’s slurred

speech.

“What about some chicken soup then? I’ve brewed it for hours. Do you still remember how much you

used to love it?” Mia spoke coyly.

Deep down inside, Amber felt disheartened after observing Mia in action. In her opinion, Mia was the

embodiment of a perfect wife—not only was she beautiful, but she was also a great cook. Amber could

not even recognize some of the gourmet dishes she had prepared.

“I’m no match for her. I’d be a joke if I thought I could ever compete with her,” Amber lamented.

“Oh, Liam! Please put me down first! What a naughty boy you are…” Suddenly, Mia let out a soft

exclamation in a voice as sweet as honey.

“Hmm… You can’t do this when you are reek of alcohol! Go and brush your teeth first! Hmm… Liam,

you’re so annoying…”

Her voice faded as they retreated to the master bedroom. At last, Amber could hear nothing after the

door was slammed shut.

Sitting on the bed, Amber clapped her hand over her mouth as tears started streaming down her face.

“Why am I crying? Am I still clinging to the hope that something might happen between Liam and me?

Am I in the position to feel upset because Liam and Mia are sleeping with each other?” she thought.

“I’m such a joke.”

“Amber Currie, you’re the dumbest girl in the world! You’re hopeless, and I look down on you!” she

reprimanded herself in her head. In the darkness, she slapped herself in the face.
