You Complete Me novel (Skylar and Coralie)

Chapter 112

Chapter 112

Coralie was stunned when she heard the words coming out from Abigail's mouth. She didn't expect her

aunts to be so well-informed. Not only did they know their address after Coralie and her family moved,

they even knew about her divorce.

"I didn't expect you to care so much about me. You even know about my divorce."

When Wayne heard Abigail questioning Coralie about her divorce, he wanted to stand up for her.

However, he saw that there wasn't a pang of anger on Coralie nor did she lose her composure. He

knew that she was able to handle it with ease, so he shut his mouth and sat silently beside her without

not saying a word.

"You're my niece, it's normal for me to care about you."

Abigail didn't mention the source from where she heard Coralie's divorce.

Vera chipped in with a smile, "Coralie's ex-husband wasn't that good after all. It's good they got

divorced. Look at my son-in-law, Jayden. He's a manager at the company he works at, making a million

dollars every year and living a good life."

Abigail wasn't going to be outshone by Vera. "My son-in-law, Seamus, is starting his own business now.

Although the starting was tough, he had a good outlook. I heard a while ago that their company is going

to partner up with Skyton Corporation."

"Puff."

As soon as he heard the word "Skyton Corporation", Wayne couldn't help but snicker.

"What are you laughing at?"

Abigail questioned Wayne.

Wayne realized that he could not dodge the question so he answered, "My sister is now working at

Skyton Corporation."

He was smart enough not to mention Skylar.

Hearing this, Vera couldn't retain her expression anymore. She had never thought that Coralie, who

used to be an insignificant staff worker, was now working for the Skyton Corporation, an huge and

esteemed company.

"Really? I really didn't expect that. What do you work as?"

Abigail questioned Coralie relentlessly.

She knew about Coralie's previous job where she earned only 2,000 dollars a month. At that time,

Coralie was all parsimonious and wouldn't spend much on herself.

Coralie was working at Skyton Corporation now? She was probably doing some menial tasks anyway!

"Yes, I'm working in the finance department, which is relevant to my degree."

Coralie studied finance back in college.

"Oh, I see."

"By the way, Coralie, have you considered remarrying? There is a supervisor in Jayden's company who

is still single. Although he is a bit older, his salary isn't bad, only a few hundred thousand lesser than

Jayden's."

As soon as Abigail stopped, Vera picked up the pace again.

The two sisters had never stopped for a moment. They kept on clattering their tongue against their

teeth, spouting words to humiliate Coralie further.

"No need for that."

Coralie refused frankly.

However, Vera wasn't satisfied with it. "Coralie, don't be so picky. A daughter's filial piety is to give her

parents a good life, isn't it? Look at how hard your mother's life is. Even at her age, she doesn't even

have a house of her own but has to settle down with renting a house."

The truth was, they had a house. However, it was burned down to the ground and even if it was

renovated, it wouldn't be comfortable to live in. That was the reason Coralie rented a house for them.

"Yes, look at Seamus. He gives me a few thousand dollars every month."

Abigail added.

In fact, they were not exactly wrong. Coralie was not earning as much as them, and hadn't married

herself into a wealthy family like their daughters.

Finally, Wayne couldn't take everything in anymore. "My brother-in-law is very kind and generous to

Coralie and our family, it's just that she doesn't bother asking for his money."

"Wayne."

Coralie warned.

However, when the two aunts picked up on the word "brother-in-law", and as if their switch was on,

they deluged her with even more questions.

Coralie was helpless. She raised her hand and glanced at her watch. Unceremoniously, she got up and

opened the door, saying, "Aunties, it's getting late. It's time for you to have your afternoon tea, isn't it? I

won't see you off then."

It was an obvious sign that she was driving them away when she opened the door. If they lingered any

longer, it would only be an embarrassing scene.

Before they left, Abigail added, "Hera, it's been a while since the family has come together, let's keep in

touch soon."

Then they left with their fur coats humped in their arms.

As soon as their annoying presence was no longer, Coralie breathed a sigh of relief and reminded

Hera, "Mom, don't tell them our address next time. They're so annoying."

"Sigh, when they asked me that day, I was in a tight spot to refuse." Hera said.

Hera was a diffident, inoffensive person. When her sisters pestered her with the repeated questioning,

she was at a loss for retreat and could only cave in.

"It's okay, but next time if they asked for you to join them for a family gathering, please don't go."

Coralie pleaded.

Judging by the words they uttered before they left, Coralie was sure that they would ask not only Hera

but even herself to show up for the family gathering. They would probably ask her to bring her current

husband along...

"Okay, I won't go along with their request." Hera reassured.

Coralie was not the kind of cold-blooded person who cared nothing for the family ties, but she knew

that her mother was too diffident and unassertive. If she went, she would only be bullied and looked

down upon by her relatives. It was better not to go.

......

Sure enough, three days later, Wayne went out to have fun. Coralie thought that it was time for Skylar

to return from abroad. When she was looking forward to his phone call, Hera's phone was ringing

frantically like a broken alarm clock.

Hera didn't answer it, but the ringing from her phone kept piercing through the air, over and over again.

Coralie went over to take a look and saw that it was Abigail calling.

She glanced at her mother sympathetically and turned her phone into a silent mode. Then she said,

"Mom, don't cook today. Since I'm already going to work tomorrow, let's go out for lunch today."

"No, it's okay. Tell me what you want to eat, I'll cook for you. The food at home is much healthier."

Although Hera said so, at the end of the day, she still felt that it cost a lot to dine outside and it was a

waste of money.

"It's okay, mom. We can still eat out sometimes!" Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

With Coralie's unflagging insistence, Hera conceded. She took off her apron and went out for a meal

with Coralie.

They decided to go to a nearby restaurant. Without putting on any makeup and donning an ordinary

sweater, jeans, and a winter jacket, Coralie went downstairs with Hera.

As soon as they got downstairs, a Honda happened to be parked downstairs.

Coralie looked at the familiar car plate. A bad premonition rose in her, something bad was going to

happen.

Sure enough, Abigail who was glazed in heavy makeup showed herself from the passenger seat.

Needless to say, the young man on the driver seat must be her son-in-law, Seamus.

When Abigail saw that Coralie and Hera had shown up, she immediately approached them with a

smile. "Hera, Coralie, we're having a family banquet today. Why didn't you pick up my call? I have no

choice but to ask my dear Seamus to send me here and pick you up."

She deliberately emphasized the word "my dear Seamus" because she was afraid that Coralie and

Hera couldn't hear her.

"It's okay, we have something to do today."

Coralie refused in a straightforward, unadorned manner.

"What else can you be busy with during the holidays? Besides, Hera," Abigail held Hera's hand as she

spoke. "Look at you, you've been so busy these years. We sisters haven't had a good time together in

a while. We're having this family banquet for you, please tell me you're going?"
