You Complete Me novel (Skylar and Coralie)

Chapter 113

Chapter 113

Hearing Abigail's words, Hera grabbed onto Coralie's arm and asked, "Coralie, why don't we go? We

haven't seen each other for several years."

When she saw that her mother was keen, Coralie replied, "Then I'll go upstairs and get something first.

Wait for me."

As soon Abigail saw this, she said, "What else do you need? You don't need to take anything with you."

Coralie ignored her and went upstairs. She took the black credit card that Skylar had given her. Based

on previous experiences, the card should be of great use shortly.

......

Coralie's grandparents had passed away a while ago.

The only ones left in the family were Hera and her two sisters. Therefore, the only people who attended

the family banquet were Hera, Abigail, Vera, their daughters, and sons-in-law.

The family banquet was held in a high-end restaurant located in A City, all for an ostentatious display of

their wealth and status.

When Coralie and Hera entered the private room, everyone had already arrived. Apart from Coralie

and Hera, everyone else was dressed formally, especially Abigail and Vera's daughters. They obviously

spent a lot of time and effort dressing up.

Coralie on the other hand was dressed simply. She was without make up and was wearing a dark-

colored down jacket.

"Hera, you're here. Hurry up and sit down. We were waiting for you."

When Vera saw that Coralie and Hera had arrived, she stood up and greeted them.

"Coralie hasn't changed much even after so many years. Unlike us who have been stressed so much

by our work, it's been a while since we last wore such casual clothes."

In the past, Coralie's appearance was the most outstanding among the three of them. But she didn't put

on any makeup today. As soon as Abigail's daughter, Ginny saw that her complexion was not as good

as Coralie and her mother's, she opened her mouth first.

Hearing Ginny's words, Coralie only smirked but did not speak. She found a seat near the door and

settled down comfortably.

Ginny wrapped her arms around her husband, Seamus and said with a smile, "Coralie, where's your

boyfriend? Didn't he come?"

Everyone knew that Coralie was divorced, so they stopped with their pretense and asked for her

boyfriend instead.

"No, he's not around for a few days."

Coralie explained.

Skylar had indeed gone abroad. Although he had just returned, she didn't want him to be put in such an

awkward situation.

"Not around? Stop pretending, I don't think you have a boyfriend. I'll have my son-in-law introduce his

colleague to you," Vera said. She then turned to look at her son in law, "Jayden, a while ago you said

that there's a supervisor in your company, the one who's still single in his forties right? Why don't you

introduce him to Coralie?"

Jayden Thomas was Vera's son-in-law. He took a glimpse at Coralie and said, "No, I think not. That

supervisor is too old to deserve her."

Coralie was surprised by Jayden's refusal.

Vera added immediately, "He doesn't deserve her? Even though Coralie is beautiful, she's but a

divorcee. A divorcee can't be picky about suitors anyway. It's good enough if someone wants to take

her in."

"Aunt Vera, you haven't changed at all. You're still so annoying."

Coralie did not disguise her hatred and frankness in front of everyone at the table.

Vera didn't expect for Coralie to rebuke her like this in front of so many people. Instinctively, she

retorted, "Coralie, I'm doing this for your own good. I saw that you're still renting a place to stay. Seeing

how miserable your life is, I thought I should help you out."

"Mom, Coralie getting married is her own business. You shouldn't stick your head into other people's

business."

Vera's daughter, Rachel Zellweger spoke up.

Coralie looked at Rachel. When she saw Rachel darting her an apologetic look, Coralie naturally felt

fonder of her.

Ginny and Seamus didn't chime in anymore as they saw that Coralie was not someone to be trifled

with. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

Halfway through the meal, Seamus suddenly stood up and said, "I'm sorry, I have to take this phone

call." He then answered the phone and said, "Hello, Assistant Thomas."

Coralie didn't have any reaction to the words "Assistant Thomas".

However, when Seamus came in after finishing his phone call, he straightened his back and said,

"Well, haven't I been partnering with Skyton Corporation recently? Just now, the secretary of Skyton

Corporation, Lorraine Thomas, called me and told me that their president has invited me over to

discuss some matters."

Coralie remained silent. She then heard Rachel whisper to Jayden, "Isn't Lorraine your sister?"

That sentence caught her attention.

It turned out that Jayden was Lorraine's brother. Judging from the situation, it seemed that Seamus

didn't know about this.

Although the family looked happy and harmonious, the truth was, everyone seemed to be on guard

against each other, not wanting to share much.

Abigail said with a smile, "Seamus, Coralie is now working in Skyton Corporation. However, she's just a

small finance executive."

Coralie paid no heed to her words. She was thinking, "When is this family banquet going to end?"

When all the dishes were served, Abigail pointed to the fish on the table and said, "Coralie, this is

Sturgeon, it's the specialty here. Try it."

When Coralie heard about it, she couldn't help but frown. "Isn't Sturgeon a protected species?"

Confronted with her response, Abigail and Vera laughed.

"Protected species? Many high-end restaurants serve this. I'm afraid you haven't eaten it before and

don't know anything about it."

"Yeah, we eat it regularly."

Coralie was thinking if there was something wrong with her memory. She recounted that she had read

it once in the textbook.

Seeing the situation, Jayden quickly explained, "The wild ones can't be eaten, but the ones bred by

human beings for more than three generations can be eaten."

"I see. Thank you."

Coralie thanked him.

As soon as he explained the matter, Abigail and Vera felt a slap on their faces. There was nothing they

could do but chuckle and say,"Jayden knows a lot."

......

About two hours later, the family banquet was finally coming to an end. Abigail asked for the bill and the

waiter came over with a credit card machine.

Abigail fished out a credit card in a generous manner and said, "Vera, let's split the bill, you and me.

Hera won't be able to afford it."

She glanced nonchalantly at Hera while speaking.

When Vera heard that Hera wasn't paying, she asked first, "How much is it?"

"The total would be 4,300 dollars."

The waiter answered.

Upon hearing this number, Vera immediately turned sour. "That's a lot. We'll still need to pay more than

2,000 dollars each."

At this time, Jayden took out his credit card and said, "Let me pay for this meal."

Coralie did not just sit back and take everything in at this time. She stood up, refused Jayden's credit

card and said, "I'll pay. Didn't you all say that this banquet was specially held for my family? It's not right

if I didn't pay for it."

With this, she took out the black credit card Skylar gave from her bag and handed it to the waiter.

Everyone at the table thought she was just pretending to be all high and mighty. However, when they

caught glimpse of the black credit card, they were all stunned, especially Jayden and Seamus.
