Chapter 459
Chapter 459
"Technically, you saved my life, so I shall listen to you then."
Harvey had studied abroad for a few years back then, hence he was a little more open-minded. In his
opinion, marriage was really not a big deal.
"Of course, I won't put you into a difficult situation either." Xenia walked to her bed and sat down. "I
won't stop you from going home during the holidays."
"Going home? Don't worry about that. You can be assured that I will always be here during the New
Year celebrations. My parents travel overseas around that time, so they don't usually stay at home."
The Felton family was not really close among themselves, and even the gatherings were very rare too.
Harvey's brothers were all busy with their own businesses.
As time passed, they were just ordinary people with biological relations.
As Xenia sat on the bed and discussed the future with Harvey, a middle-aged man in a suit entered.
"Mr. Harvey, right?"
The man was holding an envelope, and he went straight to Harvey as soon as he came in.
"Yes, I am."
Harvey nodded. He scanned the man who was standing before him up and down, and felt that he
looked unfamiliar.
He thought that they had never met before.
"Hi, my name is Sawyer Godfrey, I am Madam Harington's attorney. First of all, I would like to apologize
on Madam Harington's behalf for causing your injuries due to her mistakes."
The lawyer named Sawyer introduced himself as soon as he came in.
Without further ado, he immediately concluded that the car accident that happened a few days ago was
a mistake.
"You are Amelia's lawyer? Isn't her lawyer Yoel Jakeman?"
If Amelia had been able to find an actual lawyer back then, she wouldn't have found Yoel, and the
things that happened successively would not have taken place at all.
"I am President Rae's personally appointed lawyer, and I will be in charge of Madam Harington's car
accident this time," Sawyer explained.
Xenia then immediately understood. As she sat on the bed leisurely, she asked, "Hector is really
interesting. Does he only care about his wife and not his daughter?"
"Well, I'm not too sure about this." Sawyer knew that Xenia was not an easy person to deal with, thus
he turned to Harvey and said, "Mr. Harvey, I'm here to discuss the compensation for the accident on
behalf of Madam Harington. This is the listed compensation. Please take a look."
He handed over the envelope to Harvey as he said this. Just as Harvey was about to take it, Xenia
quickly grabbed it and said, "There's no point giving it to him. I have the final say here."
"I'm sorry, but you are?"
Sawyer looked at Xenia and began to sweat a little.
"This is my wife."
"Oh, Mrs. Felton. Nice to meet you."
"What's so nice about it? Do you know why I'm here as well, wearing a patient's clothes?"
Xenia questioned as she read the document.
Sawyer had written a comprehensive agreement including medical fees, work and mental loss
compensation, and many other complicated indemnities. Conclusively, it was a total of 127 thousand
dollars.
"Was it because..."
"It's because my husband's liver had ruptured, and he was close to dying. I donated my liver lobe to
him, and so both of us are here."
Xenia was not satisfied with the compensation fee, hence she spoke with an annoyed tone.
"Oh, so it was you, Mrs. Felton, who donated the liver lobe. Mr. Felton is definitely a lucky man."
Sawyer was slowly understanding the situation. He had to persuade Xenia first in order to get Harvey
to agree on settling this matter out of the court.
However, it seemed that Xenia was ten thousand times more difficult to deal with than Harvey.
"Stop that." Xenia raised the document and continued, "I don't agree that it was a mistake made by
Amelia. She was obviously coming after me. It was a mere coincidence that Harvey saved me from it."
Upon hearing this, Sawyer's expression did not change at all. He refuted with a smile, "Mrs. Felton, I
think you must've been mistaken. Madam Harington probably does not know you, does she? How
could she have hit you if that was the case?"
Sawyer felt a little anxious deep inside, even though he did not show it on his face.
Sawyer had seen Amelia before. Her current mental condition was a little unstable. She made it very
clear that she had intended to kill Xenia when he went to see her.
According to her words, she wanted to hit her until she died.
Now that Sawyer had met Xenia, he finally understood that the one Amelia was talking about was
Xenia.
"I want to ask her too. Why don't you arrange a meetup for us somewhere so I can ask her why she
wanted to hit me? Otherwise, wouldn't my husband's injury be for nothing?"
If it wasn't for the fact that Xenia had been worried about Harvey, she would have gone to meet Amelia.
She couldn't just let this go so easily.
"Regarding this, I'm very sorry. I have no right to arrange anything for you and Madam Harington."
"Why? Is she at the police station?"
"Uh..."
Looking at Sawyer's hesitation, Xenia pressed on, "Don't lie to me. I'm not from an ordinary family
either. It was just a car accident and a small amount of money could easily bail her out. There's no way
they would let her stay in a detention center."
"Yes, I agree with you, Mrs. Felton."
Sawyer glanced at her and did not deny it.
"If you don't have the right for this, then you can pass my words to Amelia, saying that I would like to
meet her." Xenia did not let it go. "Tell her, did she think she could get out from this easily with this tiny
compensation after hitting my husband? Also, one million dollars is definitely not equivalent to a
satisfying compensation. Is that for beggars or something?"
"Mrs. Felton, the compensation had been calculated based on the maximum standard already.
Regardless of the type of accidents, this amount is actually considered more than sufficient."
Sawyer did not know about Xenia's background. However, when he heard her saying one million dollar
was just for beggars, deep down he had a thought that she must be trying to ask for more money.
"More than sufficient? How is one million dollar considered more than sufficient?"
"Mrs. Felton, then what is the amount that you think would be appropriate? "
Looking at her casual attitude towards one million dollars, Sawyer was really tempted to see how much
Xenia would ask for.
"Well firstly, it was the Felton Group's Young Master who had his liver ruptured, and the one who
donated the liver to him was Augustine Lowell's granddaughter. How much money do you think is
appropriate to compensate for both our parents' mental anguish, and also my grandfather who loves
me so dearly?" This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
How could Xenia have missed Sawyer's look as he looked down upon her?
"Well..."
Upon hearing this, Sawyer's facial expression finally had some changes.
Initially, he had thought that Mrs. Felton, who was sitting on the bed, was just an ordinary woman. It
was totally out of his expectations that her background was so much more impactful than Harvey's.
"Therefore, I would like to see Amelia. Otherwise, I'll request a humongous amount of compensation
and I'm afraid that it is not an amount that can be afforded by the Rae family."
To be honest, Xenia didn't care about the money. She just wanted an answer from Amelia, and not
some money as compensation after hitting Harvey.
"Actually..." Sawyer could only come up with an alternative plan after knowing about Xenia's
background. He hesitated and continued, "Madam Harington's mental condition has been unstable
ever since this accident. She's currently receiving treatment in a hospital."
"Mentally unstable?"
Xenia did not expect that Sawyer would use such an excuse to reject her request.
"If she is mentally unstable, ask her to visit our hospital then. We have the best doctors in A City who
can treat her."
After hearing this, Harvey, who had remained silent all this while and allowed Xenia to speak freely,
finally said something.
