Chapter 505
Chapter 505
Lucille was speechless for a moment. That had a big impact on her.
She remembered very clearly that her mother suddenly died of illness when she was seven years old.
After about a year later, Marvin married Alma.
When Alma went to their house, she brought Natasha along, who was only five years old during that
time.
"Lucille, you are my dearest sister, that's why I am so kind to you." Natasha said sarcastically.
"So... dad was the one who cheated?" Lucille asked.
"I think so. I'm just a child. I know little about the adults. Why don't you ask dad?"
Natasha did not pretend to be gentle anymore, but was rather arrogant.
She could imagine Lucille's expression, which was exactly what she wanted.
"I don't believe you!"
Lucille then hung up abruptly.
Her hand was shaking. The impression of Marvin as a good father figure was ruined completely after
the death of her mother and when Alma became part of their life.
Lucille thought Marvin must have difficulties with what happened that night. However, at that moment,
she knew that Marvin could have cheated on her mother when she was still alive...
"What's wrong?" Abby turned her head and saw Lucille's ghastly pale face.
"It's okay. I'm sleepy. I'm going to bed."
Lucille went to bed. However, she tossed and turned, finding it difficult to fall asleep.
Initially, she thought that Franklin had accepted her, which made her feel very happy. However, she
didn't expect that to happen.
Lucille didn't sleep well the entire night because of the family affair that was brought up. She woke up
at 9 the following morning, while Abby was still sleeping.
She quickly got dressed and rushed to work.
When she arrived at the gallery, there was a Mercedes-Benz at the parking lot where Zoel used to park
his car.
The door of the gallery was opened.
When Lucille stepped in, she saw Zoel sitting on the couch playing games. She walked over and
asked, "Where's your car? I think someone has occupied your parking space. Do you need me to make
a call and ask the person to move the car?"
"That's my car." Zoel replied without raising his head and continued to play the game.
"Huh? Have you earned a lot and then get a new car?" Lucille wondered.
Previously, Zoel drove a local made car, which cost around 100,000 dollars. The SUV parked out there
seemed worth more than hundreds of thousands.
The gallery's business was rather stagnant in recent days. There were no major orders. How could he
suddenly get such a luxurious car?
"No, my dad came a few days ago and saw me driving that shabby car. He insisted on getting this for
me. It's hard for me to refuse his kindness."
While Zoel spoke, he raised his head and messed up his hair with one hand, making him look like a
worthless man.
He was already in his early thirties, but he was still acting like a kid.
Lucille put her things away. When she watched him acting like that, she couldn't help but asked, "Did
you get a sugar-mummy?"
"You are looking down on me." Zoel put his cell phone aside and sat up straight. He said with a
mysterious look, "No. In fact, I am the so-called silver-spoon child who will inherit the family property
worth billions of dollars if I don't run my gallery well."
Lucille held the laughter and pretended to believe earnestly, "I will try my best to sell the paintings so
that you won't have to inherit those billions worth of property."
"Well, thanks for your hard work."
Zoel then picked up his phone again and continued playing his game.
Lucille felt down initially. She was enlightened because of the man's ridicule.
As she cleaned the gallery, she listened to the sound effects of the game from Zoel's cell phone. She
suddenly felt a sense of tranquility.
After Zoel has been playing the game for a long time, he raised his head to stare at Lucille, "Lucille,
why don't you marry me?"
"Huh?" Lucille's hands, which were holding the mop, shook in that instant.
"I've been considering going abroad to further my studies recently, but I don't want to leave you here
alone. Why don't you marry me? I'll accept your child and three of us can go abroad together."
Zoel locked the screen of his phone. When the upbeat music of the game stopped, the whole gallery
fell into silence.
Lucille stared at Zoel and waved her hands hastily, "Don't make fun of me."
"You've caught me." Zoel pretended to be indifferent. He said, "But if one day when you realize that
nobody wants you, you can definitely consider me instead."
"There are tons of women chasing after you." Lucille spoke to ease the awkward atmosphere.
"Of course." Zoel was narcissistic. He lowered his head and started the game again. When the music
was on, he whispered to himself, "I am finally serious, but no one believes me."
Lucille continued to mop the floor and did not hear his mutter.
When they got off work that evening, Zoel took out his new car key and whirled it around his finger. He
then asked Lucille, "Where are you going? I'll give you a ride."
"Going home."
Lucille was familiar with Zoel, therefore she did not refuse his offer.
When she got into the car, Zoel suggested, "How about a dinner...?"
Before Zoel could say further, Lucille wanted to refuse.
However, Zoel said immediately, "You've been pregnant for a few months. There's a department store
that sells baby products near the restaurant. Let me accompany you to shop for some baby stuff. Don't All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
you think it is inconvenient for a pregnant lady like you to carry a lot of things? I'll lend you a hand."
"...I'm not in a hurry to buy those things right now." Lucille hesitated.
In fact, when Zoel offered to take her to buy baby products, she was quite tempted.
She had not bought anything as she didn't have much money. She had also given Natasha quite a sum
of money. Since Marvin had given her some money the previous day, thus she could finally go
shopping.
However, what Zoel said that day caused her to scruple.
"Don't say no, let's go. It's unusual that I'm in a good mood today. I'm willing to be your driver and to
carry stuff for you.You won't reject me, will you?"
"Well, thank you, Mr. Parker."
Looking at Zoel's serious expression, Lucille could not help but agreed.
Zoel was happy, as Lucille had agreed. He stepped on the accelerator and drove her to a new
shopping mall. They first found a restaurant at a lower floor to have dinner. After the dinner, they went
to the top floor to buy some baby products.
After going to the upper floor, Zoel asked, "Is the baby a boy or a girl?"
"I don't know..."
Lucille shook her head.
She looked at the dazzling array of baby products. All of which were arranged according to different
color. She then realized that she might be there a bit too early. Generally, people would buy blue stuff
for boys and pink stuff for girls.
She didn't even know the gender of the baby, thus she had no idea which color to pick.
"Then just get something that's not related to gender." Zoel suggested. He picked up a beautiful
cartoon backpack and said, "Let's get this. This backpack is so cute, the kid can carry it later."
"A newborn baby doesn't need this. The kid will only be able to walk about one year of age."
Lucille understood that Zoel did not know much about babies.
"Really? Then what does a newborn need?" As a man, Zoel looked strange when he wandered about
the baby products.
They walked around the stores without noticing there was someone following behind them while taking
photos of them with a cell phone. They had been followed since they were having dinner.
