Chapter 115
Chapter 115
Sofia’s POV
“Good afternoon, Mrs Ricci.” They both echoed out at the same time and I nodded my head once
before finally starting to speak. “Hello Ethan, and Ryan.” I breathed out and stared into the slight gap Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
between both of their shoulders, refusing to meet their eyes as I continued.
“Good afternoon, how have your been today?” I echoed out and watched as Ethan barely acted like he
had heard what I had said, and Ryan had shrugged his right shoulder a little and that was it.
“Anyways, I wanted to ask you guys if Luca left me a message with you guys.” I said to them and finally
dragged my eyes upwards and settled my eyes on both of them at the same time, refusing to dwell too
much on Ryan’s face because it felt like he and I shared a certain secret which no one else knew about
and the thought alone was making me feel so type of way, which was why I was completely avoiding to
stare into his face as much as I can.
“Oh, a message?” Ethan breathed out and I nodded my head once, with my hands still clasped around
the middle of my body, and I watched as he turned his head around to stare at Ryan for a fleeting
second before turning back around to stare down at me.
“About that,” Ethan started to say and lifted his right hand and began to rub the back of his neck as he
continued. “Yes ma’am, Mr Ricci did leave you a message with us.” He finally replied, a bashed look
coming to cover his face all of a sudden, and I had no idea as to why he was appearing like he had
suddenly gotten scolded.
“We are so sorry to not have come to you to inform you about what Mr Ricci had said, we had gotten
carried away in what we were doing outside and had completely forgotten about it until Matilda had
come to inform us that you were in need of our presence.” Ethan continued and I stared up into his face
as soon as he was done speaking, noticing that he didn’t look emotionless and blank faced like he
usually does, instead he looked almost frightened and really worried, at least that was the kind of
emotion that was able to identify what was currently on his face.
“Oh, it’s fine.” I started to say and watched as he shook his head before continuing immediately. “It
isn’t, and I’d take full responsibility for not remembering to deliver the message to you, because the
message was directly delivered to me, and not Ryan.” He said and nodded his head at Ryan at the end
of his sentence and I blinked up at him, not understanding where all these were coming from.
“Nothing’s going to happen, Ethan.” I finally said as soon as he was going to say and I watched as he
only kept staring at me without saying a thing, and then I decided to continue immediately. “Everybody
makes mistakes, what happened was obviously a mistake, you wouldn’t not want tthis not deliver the
message left with you, to me on purpose.” I said to him while still staring up at him, my fingers starting
to absentmindedly tap against my exposed waist.
“You won’t tell Mr Ricci about it?” I heard him say it in a really small voice, and it seemed like it was the
smallest voice I’ve ever heard him used.
I nodded my head firmly, starting to wonder if Luca punishes them really thoroughly, for him to get that
kind of facial expression over his face some minutes ago.
“Yeah, I won’t tell him about this. It wasn’t your fault and you didn’t do it on purpose, remember?” I said
to him and watched as he hesitated before nodding his head at me, a relieved facial expression
crossing his face almost immediately, and I also didn’t miss the small breath that slipped out his lips.
Well, I really hope it isn’t the case that Luca punishes them too thoroughly, or even punishes them at
all, because they’re all good, useful and deserve to not get punished unnecessarily, on something that
obviously wasn’t their fault again.
“Thank you, ma’am.” Ethan finally breathed out, while still staring down at me. As soon as I nodded my
head at him in indicating that I had accepted his appreciation of gratitude, I watched as he turned his
head around, automatically cutting the eye contact between the both of us immediately.
He returned his head back to my face after a moment and started to speak almost immediately. “So,
Mrs Ricci, Mr Ricci asked Ryan and I to help you set up the room in which you’re going to be painting
in, he said that you’re to just stand by if you want to, or that you found go rest while Ryan and I set the
whole place, if you could stand by and assign us where you’d want each things to be positioned in.”
Ethan breathed out in a stronger voice and I swallowed as soon as his whole words sank into my head,
wondering why the whole sentence which Ethan had said seemed to be making my head feel all fuzzy
all of a sudden.
“Oh?” I echoed out in a tiny voice and watched as Ethan nodded his head before continuing almost
immediately. “Yeah, he also said we’re to ensure that everything is arranged and positioned in really
good places, because he wouldn’t like to ever receive a call from home whereby you’d have gotten
injured with any of the things relating to your painting work.” Ethan continued and I moved my weight
from foot to foot as I started to chew on the inside of my cheeks, while staring pointedly at my feet.
Luca was probably thinking about what a clumsy girl I was, which was why he had automatically
thought about me getting injured almost immediately. He was probably right to worry about that, I
guess? Seeing as I had managed to sprain my hand from falling off the bed, if that wasn’t the most
clumsy move anybody can ever perform.
If I was going to be honest with myself, I was going to be saying right now, that him remembering that I
could easily get injured if somethings were not positioned well, had warmed my heart in a really
unexpected way, and it was probably because nobody would have been able to remember this
particular thing about me, assuming I was still back at home, except for the househelp.
“It’s all good then,” I started to say and breathed out a small sigh before continuing to speak, wetting
my lips with a quick swipe of my tongue as I continued to speak almost immediately. “Let’s go then, I’d
help in whatever way I can.” I started to say and watched Ryan who had remained quiet through the
whole conversation which I had exchanged with Ethan for some minutes, right before he started to
speak.
“The boss said you are not allowed to help, but you can hang around if you’re worried about us not
putting some things in where you’d want it to be positioned in, but you’re not allowed to help.” Ryan
said slowly as if he wished to be sure I grasp all what he was saying without any mistake, and I
absorbed his now familiar voice.
The fact that Luca had taken his time to instruct the guards to make sure I don’t touch any of the things
which they were going to be working with, left another kimd or fuzzy feeling in my mind.
Does it mean that he was starting to care for me? Or it could mean that he was just worried about me
injuring myself stupidly wll in the name or lending a henpimt hand to the bodyguards while settikt the
whole thing up.
Or he was just saying that because it was expected of him? I asked myself and was dismissing thst
particular thought out of my head in the next second, as soon as that particular conversation which I
had had with Sarah and Matilda right there in their kitchen, the evening after I had returned back home
from the hospital, the particular day after I had managed to fall or the bed and get myself injured.
She had said that Luca doesn’t do something because he wanted to, or because he was supposed to,
and that he only does something because he wants to.
Which means he genuinely doesn’t want me to get hurt? It had got to be it, out of all the other reasons
that had popped into my head. I mean, it was pretty reasonably a probability, seeing the way he had
acted after I had shamelessly stuttered without control before him right there in the home office,
yesterday. And how he had handled the situation and ordered me to take in deep breath into my lungs,
and how I had found myself doing immediately without any questions or hesitations. There was also the
part about him commanding to look into his eyes, and how it had been extremely hard for me to do so,
because it was Luca and his eyes was just so mesmerizing and hypnotizing, and at the end, I had
ended his averting my gaze, and was super glad that he hadn’t requested for me to bring my eyes back
to rest on his eyes once again.
