Chapter 93
The guilty and displeased feelings toward Ronan had carried over till the next day. NôvelDrama.Org © content.
By noon, Cordelia had arranged to have lunch with Brooklyn, but to her surprise, they bumped into
Ronan and a group of high-level executives returning from the outside.
They seemed to have had a site visit in the morning.
When their eyes met, Cordelia inevitably felt awkward. Given her complicated feelings towards Ronan,
she lowered her head and deliberately hid behind Brooklyn.
As Ronan walked past her, he said, "Why are you always avoiding me? And no junk food allowed."
Cordelia and Brooklyn froze. Just one sentence from Ronan had stopped them in their tracks. No junk
food allowed, so they should eat something else. But in the end, they chose junk food. At the
restaurant, Cordelia spoke more cautiously, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I have no idea how he knew about those things. It's making me feel very defensive." Cordelia said.
Brooklyn also felt guilty, because she betrayed Cordelia before. She could only try to lighten the tense
mood, "So, if there's anything else you haven't told him, better spit it out now. Honesty is the best
policy. Resistance only makes things worse."
At this point, Cordelia suddenly remembered, "That day he gave me a book and told me that I could
only carry this book in my bag. No other books are allowed. Do you think he already knows about the
book Jamie wrote?"
Brooklyn nodded quickly, "He must know. This is not a hin. It's a clear message. I'm also curious how
he found out."
Then, Cordelia mentioned the message that Deanna sent yesterday. At the mention of this, Brooklyn
got excited, "Let's get Edwin. Get him to wear the shirt Deanna sent, and we should sent her a warning.
She's just a mistress. What's there to be so cocky about?"
However, Cordelia felt that it wasn't a good idea, as Deanna was his first love and they were bound to
get together someday. As for her and Ronan, they were just a couple by agreement and would
eventually separate.
"We'll see." Cordelia ate her meal slowly.
When they got back to the office, Brooklyn told Cordelia, "You must confess to Mr. Evans."
Although Cordelia was reluctant, she knew that if he exposed the matter in an ungraceful manner one
day, she would feel even more embarrassed.
So, she took The CPA Success Blueprint that Jamie gave her along with his notes, and went to
Ronan's office.
"Did you have junk food again?" Ronan frowned at Cordelia's lips.
Cordelia quickly defended herself, "No!"
"Cordelia, do you find these little schemes amusing?" Clearly, Ronan was annoyed at Cordelia's lies.
"Don't be mad." Thinking that she was going to confess to Ronan today, Cordelia's voice became very
flattering, "I didn't mean to. I only ate a little bit. I came to give you this."
With that, Cordelia placed the notes and the book on Ronan's desk.
Ronan already knew, so he wasn't surprised, "Anything else?"
"No, there's nothing between him and me." Cordelia waved her hands anxiously.
"Take it back!" Ronan pushed it back to Cordelia. He only cared about Cordelia's thoughts and wasn't
interested in Jamie's stuff at all.
"Does this mean honesty is rewarded?" Cordelia asked cautiously.
"You could say that." Ronan said, "And this is for you."
"What's this?" Cordelia saw Ronan push three tickets towards her.
She picked them up and saw they were for the launch of My Dear Dr. Rowland. Without asking, she
knew they must be from Deanna.
"Where's your ticket?" Cordelia asked Ronan.
"I'm not going. Not interested." Ronan said.
So, Deanna gave Ronan three tickets? She was really something, to give out three tickets!
Thinking of Deanna, Cordelia felt annoyed. She turned and left, and as soon as she got back to her
office, she started discussing Deanna with Brooklyn.
"See, you're so nice to her, but she's not grateful at all. Instead, she gave you three tickets. Is she
hinting that there’s a third party between you two?" Brooklyn asked, "Just do as I told you at noon."
Cordelia thought for a moment, and decided to do just that.
