Summary Title: Extraordinary bride

in a world where love and loyalty collide with pride and power, Isla Ainsworth finds herself trapped in a marriage that was never meant to be hers.

The story opens with Isla standing alone in her lavish bedroom, her phone pressed tightly to her ear as she desperately calls her husband, Gabriel Wyndham. Her voice trembles with quiet hope — hope that he would pick up, that he would at least listen, that he would come home. But the line keeps ringing, unanswered. Gabriel, a billionaire known for his cold charm and workaholic nature, has once again chosen silence over his wife.

Tomorrow is her parents’ 30th wedding anniversary — an event her mother insisted Gabriel must attend. Isla prays he will, but deep down, she knows better. Their marriage of two years has always been one built on appearances, not affection. They live together in name only, never having shared a room, let alone a heart.

Two years ago, a single scandal had rewritten her fate. At a party, Isla was drugged and ended up in Gabriel’s hotel room. Paparazzi photos of them leaving together the next morning destroyed both their reputations. To protect the Wyndham family’s spotless name, Gabriel’s powerful grandfather, Alfred Wyndham, forced his grandson to marry her.

For Gabriel, it was duty.
For Isla, it was love.

She had adored him since childhood, watching him from afar while he saw her only as a friend. Despite knowing his heart belonged to another woman — Delphine Winthrope, the glamorous model and his childhood sweetheart — Isla still agreed to the marriage, clinging to her mother’s hopeful words: “Things will get better, honey. Be patient with him.”

But patience, like love, has limits.

That night, when Gabriel ignored her repeated calls, Isla’s worst fears were confirmed. A woman’s voice answered instead — smooth, confident, and painfully familiar. It was Delphine. The woman who had walked away from Gabriel three years ago was now back… and in his arms.

Heartbroken, Isla tried to calm herself. She wanted to believe Gabriel had a reason. But then, a video call from an unknown number shattered every illusion she had left.

When she answered, the screen lit up with sounds of moans and whispered names — Delphine’s voice, Gabriel’s name. Her trembling eyes widened as she saw the faces — her husband’s body moving over Delphine’s, the man she loved betraying her in the most brutal way possible.

The phone slipped from her hands. She collapsed, crying silently into the sheets that had never been shared with him. Her entire world crumbled in one cruel moment.

Still, the next evening, Isla put on a brave smile. Dressed elegantly for her parents’ anniversary celebration, she hid her pain behind flawless grace. The garden glowed with laughter and music, but Isla’s heart was elsewhere — trapped in the memory of that video, of betrayal replaying in her mind like a curse.

Her mother, Diana Ainsworth, noticed her daughter’s dimmed spirit and asked softly, “Where is your husband, Isla? Didn’t he say he’d come?” Isla forced a smile. “He will, Mama. He’s just busy with work.”

But when her mother reminded her that it was Sunday, Isla’s lie collapsed silently inside her.

Then came the sudden commotion — the arrival of the Wyndham family. Leading them was Alfred, and beside him walked Gabriel — tall, composed, untouchable. For a fleeting moment, Isla’s heart fluttered. Maybe he came for her. Maybe there was still hope.

What happened next shocked everyone.

In front of the guests, Gabriel wrapped his arms around Isla’s waist and kissed her — deeply, passionately, like a man in love. Gasps echoed through the garden. To the onlookers, they were the perfect couple. But Isla knew better. His kiss was a performance — a show for the cameras, for the families, for the illusion they both lived in.

Still, her mother’s eyes sparkled with joy. To Diana, the kiss meant reconciliation. To Isla, it meant survival — of appearances, not of love.

After greetings and expensive gifts — including a luxury car for her parents and a hefty cheque from Alfred — Gabriel extended his hand to Isla. “Dance with me.”

She agreed, though every step felt heavy. They moved gracefully to the music, appearing like the perfect pair, while Isla’s heart screamed in silence.

Then came the words she had been dreading. “I was busy with work last night. I hope you understand,” Gabriel whispered.

Her chest tightened. Her voice trembled as she replied, “I know you were with Delphine. I got the message, Gabriel. I understood it very well.”

The music faded. His eyes turned cold. Without a word, he pulled her away from the dance floor, past the guests, and up to her room. The mask had fallen.

“Repeat what you just said,” he demanded.

“I said, you don’t have to lie. You were with her.”

He exhaled sharply, frustration clear in his voice. “You knew about me and Delphine before this marriage. So what is the matter now? Stop acting childish.”

Her voice broke. “You’re right. I was childish — to believe you’d ever love me.”

He sighed, softer now. “Look, Isla. This marriage is just an arrangement. Let’s not disappoint our families. My grandfather can’t know the truth.”

But Isla’s patience finally shattered. “I can’t live like this anymore, Gabriel. Pretending. Crying. Dying a little every night.”

When he reached for her, trying to calm her with touches she no longer wanted, she pushed him away. Her voice cracked with finality. “No. Not anymore. I want a divorce.”

He froze, then straightened, anger flashing in his green eyes. “You know that’s not possible. Stop being childish.”

She met his gaze, her tears unending. “I mean it. I can’t do this any longer.”

Gabriel’s control broke. “I gave you everything — my name, my protection, my wealth. Isn’t that enough?”

She whispered, “It’s not. Because there’s no love.” Then, after a long silence, she said the words that tore both their souls apart. “I love you, Gabby.”

The name hit him like a slap. His eyes darkened. “Don’t call me that. You have no right. Only one person…” His voice trailed off, but Isla already knew who — Delphine.

With a trembling breath, she wiped her tears. “Fine. You don’t love me, and you never will. Tomorrow morning, you’ll see the divorce papers on your desk. Please, just sign them. Goodbye, Gabriel.”

And with that, she walked away — fragile yet fierce, heartbroken but free.

Gabriel stood frozen in the quiet room, her final words echoing in his mind like a haunting melody. For the first time, he realized what he might truly lose — not just a wife, but the woman who had loved him even when the world didn’t.

But by then, it was already too late.
